The only thing I can think of to add would be another group RP section for animal role plays.

A furrie sub thread? o.o That would be fantasy, right...? ._. Or 100% animals? like wolf threads and such~

I haven't read everyone's opinions on this matter (since there is just way too much to read through) so if I repeat anything, just consider it my added support for the topic.

Firstly, I wholeheartedly further the support of the 18+ section. I heard someone mention that they would be willing to pay for it, though, and that I certainly do not agree with. If that were to actually happen, I would probably still pay for it myself, but the issue with that is that even though I'd be willing to pay, I may have a role-play partner who ISN'T--so things just get all messed up from there on. I do believe it to be fair enough if we don't earn gold from posting in it--because no gold is better than no 18+ forum--but it would still be a preference of mine to gain gold from it--if you manage to work out a way. Also, I agree with the fact that 18+ should only be available and viewable by actual 18+ members. I was a member on a forum before that had that feature, and I think it works really great.

As for new features, I don't feel that us role-players really need a whole lot. I mean, it's simply writing... there isn't much to enhance. Perhaps more sub-categories or the little titles before the main title? I'm not really sure. I'm perfectly fine with what you offer now, so there isn't much I can think of that could really make it any better.

If you had a mennie shop that stocked, like, costume-like items... that might be a big hit? Not too sure... but I can imagine some people may enjoy dressing up their avatar to look like whatever they are role-playing. Mainstream stuff like vampires, monsters, superheros, school uniforms... you get the picture. Because there isn't exactly a 'costume-type' store on here at the present moment, so I think it would be pretty neat.

In the end, I love role-playing on Menewsha because of the people. You can try to enhance your features and such, but it's really all about who you find on here. Luckily, Menewsha just happens to attract several literate and decent individuals.

RolePlayGateway is a forum that focuses entirely on role playing, as you know, and has one of the features I mentioned in my post - the ability to create generic profiles for characters that you use frequently. I really like this feature and find it be useful. They also have a feature where you can list your RPs as well. I haven't really used this feature so I can't give you any kind of feedback on it.

I have not used this feature either but it looks really awesome. (I'm going to check it out later this evening so I can get back to you if no one else does before me.)

As far as the community goes.. I always got the impression that most users were fairly intelligent and good writers. This, of course, varies person by person but overall it's good quality role playing. There's some elitism going on but nothing extreme. I've always enjoyed playing there in the past but, like I said in my previous post, it's only role playing, really, and that's just not enough for me.

I would support an 18+ non gold section.
The other sites that I role play on are invisionfree forums that are usually themed and are also intermediate/college leveled. The only way these sites gain money is from ads. That's what I can tell. I don't mind them though, they usually either amuse me or I just naturally ignore them lol. I role play here because I happen to have an account here and I harassed a couple of my friends in joining.

In terms of mennies... I'm sorry I wouldn't pay for role playing. Don't ask me why, but I gladly pay for fake clothes every month but I think it's mostly just because I wanna support mene as well. As far as paying to use the role play forum I'd probably not be into that.

The 18+ idea is WONDERFUL. It's sad we wouldn't be able to make any profit on it since most of us love to rp and thus do it ALOT there for stacking up tons of posts. But we'll just have to deal. ^^

I like how safe it makes the roleplays and the fact that it stops a bunch of smut from cluttering the forum where young teenagers post. If you do add one, I would be interested, but I don't think I would use it too often.

A "poke user" feature, not quite like the current @someone tag. Sometimes a partner simply disappears, and sending a PM is a little overkill. It would be nice to "poke" someone and remind them of your existence.

I played D&D for years. This is just fun to do on a website. To have people to talk to as different characters of yourself is just a fun way to play it instead of just having one particular character you know? I chose Mene because it was the first site i ever saw this on. I didnt even think Gaia had this type of feature.

The Pg 13 restriction is kinda basic for a role playing area. If you made and 18+ section i wouldnt mind being in it. It would make things even more interesting.

Nope... I dont roleplay on other sites... Sorry i cant give you any tips. But i do roleplay on aim with my friends and i think allowing people to write like:

Angela: Brad i cant believe you would just say that to my brother. *She says in a huffy sort of annoyed tone*
Brad: I couldnt help it. The man was really getting on my nerves. *He walks over to her trying to calm her down* I promise not to do it again.

Or even having the actions in between the dialouge because i had a friend that use to roleplay here and she was kicked out of mene for roleplaying like that. At least from what i remember with the big banned sign over her avatars head and that just happens to be how most people roleplay if you know what i mean.

Just to disagree with you that that's how most people roleplay, I learned to roleplay using prose like you find in normal fiction, and I've mostly seen regular prose. Your lines could be re-written as:

"Brad, I can't believe you would just say that to my brother," Angela says in a huffy sort of annoyed tone.
"I couldn't help it. The man was really getting on my nerves." He walks over to her, trying to calm her down. "I promise not to do it again."

Then again, I've seen semi-lit roleplays using your kind of writing. In the end, I think it's up to the person running the roleplay as to what's allowed, not Menewsha.

Adding an 18+ area may make people scrutinize the 13+ area more. Roleplaying is great because it doesn't actually need any gimmicks or tools beyond an imagination so what could you honestly make us pay mennies for?

At most a way to create our own private board with multiple sub-boards would be interesting (by paying for it? A little more for each extra sub-board added?) but there's no real way to merchandise roleplaying since its a free thing that people can do almost anywhere these days,

Maybe I'm just lacking ideas at the moment.

Sinspiration: I actually enjoy that idea, I hate to admit it but one thing i enjoyed on gaia was the guild option to create sub forums and such inside the guild.

Just to clear up this misconception, we don't ban or kick people out of the site just for script roleplaying. Your friend was probably doing much more serious things in addition to that that she didn't tell you about (or, her account simply wound up deactivated due to a dead email address and no response from her).

1- I roleplay so that I am encouraged to keep writing. It's sort of like an intellectual/imaginative exercise for me. What I write while roleplaying may not be great, but at least I'm writing (because if I don't the other players have characters talking to a suddenly unresponsive character, so I try to keep up).

2- I chose Menewsha for roleplaying because I saw an ad for Menewsha a while ago that said it was more adult-oriented (not in a XXX way, but in an age way), and like I expected, I found some mature roleplayers here.

1- I like the PG-13 restriction. It keeps things from getting too ...uh, intense. I may be a legal adult, but I don't want to have to quit a roleplay simply because someone refuses to stop graphically describing everything.

2- I don't think I'd use the 18+ section. Unless each roleplay was marked for what they were 18+ for. For example, one could be 18+ for theme, another for language, and another for sexual content, etc. Otherwise someone seeking a roleplay where they could simply swear might find that everyone else came to the roleplay expecting to graphically slaughter.

Also, would there be some sort of way to keep the stray 11-17 year old from venturing in? Especially for the preteen to young teen aged people. Perhaps it could be a password-protected area or something? I'd be worried about how easily they could go in and possibly read sexual and/or violent pieces.

Perhaps you could have a roleplay contest, that would cost mennies to enter? Everyone thinks their roleplay is the best, so I think people might pay to see if it really is (in the eyes of whomever judges). I don't know if that's such a great idea, but I thought I'd brainstorm a little, LOL.

I'm also a member of Ernya, and I'm not yet a roleplayer on there, but I'm thinking about it. I like that Ernya allows avatars to have natural-looking make-up/blush. The blush may not seem like a big deal, but the blush can come in green or purple, which is perfect for making a character/avatar look sleep deprived or sick. Ernya does not have ads, at least not that I've noticed... I think it would be perfectly fine, though, if you got some ads. There's no shame in it.

Its hard for me to roleplay in english and I know Im not the only one here.

I roleplay as a way to escape from reality. When I write I can be anyone and do anything. I can be a benevolent princess in one thread as I write the post and then switch to another thread and be a mage on the side of evil with a tragic past, and then switch yet again to a flirty piratess who loves to toy with hearts. It's so much fun and it really helps you see the world through the eyes of another. I choose Menewsha for this because there are a lot of sites out there who aren't literate enough for me but Menewsha is. With minimal searching I could find an advanced literacy thread for me to really enjoy.

While I do not like the PG 13 rule, it is all to common on so many sites that I have really learned to live with it. I can work around it but I don't like my characters amount of physical love to be limited to fleeting kisses and hugs with now real passion. Especially since I have many characters who are more passion and lust than innocence and true love. I would adore the addition of an 18+ forum since it would be a whole new genre I could try out and even if not just lust I could include more real world stuff in my characters like alcohol and drugs that aren't normally appropiate in PG 13 threads. Not to mention Mene would then be one of three sites that it would be available on that I'm on and I would love it.

I can't really think of any FEATURES that are necessary at the moment other than being able to use actual post layouts for our characters, which are against the rules since it adds to the amount of gold you get.

I would like having a few yearly items that we could get with Menes that are splendid. They would cost more than monthly items and there'd only be like five or so so it doesn't end up like Gaia did but they could be really pretty.

Most of the other roleplay sites I'm on are monetized by Cash shop items like those mentioned above but the ones that I'm on that aren't avatar sites are Donation ran.

Mentioning my own opinion on the 18+ section, Gaiaonline did the same thing back when they were a smaller community, and it immediately deteriorated into members using little filtering on their spelling and grammar, using the forum just to cyber. I believe the best choice is to tell people to keep 18+ material in PMs and keep the PG-13 rating on the rest of the site.

As for why I roleplay on Mene, it's a lovely, quiet community. I haven't been judged on what I like to roleplay, as I have on Gaia, and most of the people here are quality roleplayers, with pristine grammar, spelling and dedication. :3

Erm . . . . . . . Short answer, "no" with a "but", long answer, "yes" with a "however". In some role-play situations, an eighteen-plus section is ENTIRELY appropriate to keep the plot going. Though, as Ezekielle Netzerenne just said, there may be a possibility of the forum going into full "cybering" mode. And, even if it wasn't pillaged by pedo's, I wouldn't use the sub-section if it earned no gold, seeing as my role-playing is pretty much the only way I can generate any of our beautiful, shiny currency. :yes:

You know I remember that time on Gaia, I also remember when they used to have a personals section. However you have to admit even at that time in gaia's life they didn't moderate their forums worth spit. That was one of the reasons it deteriorated so badly.
