I personally thought it was pretty awesome. The concept is completely original, you don't see any hints of other movies in this movie.
As for MY thoughts on the ending...
SPOILERX
I was so freaked out too! I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the top to fall... but I THINK I saw it tilt to the right a bit before the movie ended. I'm not sure though. *sigh* Everyone in the theater I was in groaned when it was just cut off, they were pretty much just as disappointed as I was. XD
I agree it was very original. It was also great visually. The action never got too powerful and it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.
I got jumpy whenever Mal showed up. She was scary.
SPOILERX
I was sure it looked like it was going to fall too, but they cut it off too soon! My sister also remarked on the fact that we never saw him pass back through the kick, we just saw him open his eyes. Ugh, this movie is so depressing if he didn't wake up!
Loved the film. I've had the soundtrack on a loop on my computer for the last few days. Chris Nolan + Hans Zimmer = guaranteed amazing-ness.
Everyone in the theater groaned at the ending, yeah, and people were complaining about it. I think I'm the only person I know who likes that kind of ending.
Also, coolest fight scene in the history of forever.
Oh don't get me wrong. I really liked the ending. It made me groan, but I don't think I would have been satisfied knowing if it had been one way or the other.
Which was the coolest fight scene? Where the hotel hallway was flipping around, because I thought that was the coolest.
I actually did like the ending as well. It's definitely the type of ending that gets you thinking, I've always despised the happily-ever-after-now-everything's-resolved type of ending. And of course, it makes for interesting discussions as well, yush? : P
Ooh! The hotel hallway fight scene was most definitely awesome. :3
I even played close attention to the kids. They were wearing the same clothes as in the dream except that Phillipa was wearing a white shirt under her pink dress.
One of my friends can lucid dream (meaning that you are aware that you are dreaming and can sometimes, to varying degrees, control your dream). She said that when she watched it, it gave her shivers because of the similarities. Apparently when you realize you're dreaming in real life, everyone in your dream really does look at you. Creepy...
I wish I was a lucid dreamer. I would love to be able to do whatever I want in my dream.
That is creepy that the people in her dream look at her when she realizes she's dreaming. I suppose that element of Inception could have come from a real experience. It's creepy as hell though.
haha I loved this movie! ^_^ It was great, and even my overly critical brother loved it to death. I definitely think that it is very original for movies. It's a topic not many people have touched on...and it gets you thinking about so much. I think they took an idea many people have considered (I know I've at least considered this type of thing since I was a little kid) and created a very visual and exciting movie out of it. The romance wasn't cheesy, which is always nice.
As for the ending...

I kind of expected it to end like that. I hoped it would just topple over, and it really is nerve wracking how they cut it before it seemed it would. But I also think it's interesting that he didn't care. He looked back to see, but didn't really wait around very long. He accepted that reality as his and that was enough. ^_^
i loved it.
all my friends told me it was super confusing but after i saw it i began to doubt my friends intelligence. :/
i had no problem understanding the movie at all.

IAWTP.
I knew that a bunch of people would come out, twirl their finger in their hair, and talk about how they didn't get it at all.
It's called thinking. :P
Seriously. I mean, there may be some details that flew past me (the times for each consecutive dream) but as long as you pay attention to what's going on, you can understand it. My ten year old sister understood it!
I saw it at 11: 15 pm and didn't get home til 2 in the morning after spending the whole day walking around the zoo but it was completely worth it XD
And while, yes the movie was original in some aspects, the whole wife-husband relationship was apparently very very similar to the one in Shutter Island, or so people keep telling me.
The hallway fight scene in zero gravity was definitely the best XD
I actually had no trouble understanding it, but, like everyone else probably did, I groaned before breaking out laughing at the end XD and somewhere in the beginning too. Some losers sitting behind me wouldn't stop talking though....
I can't believe there aren't any threads about this in here.
I watched this a couple of days ago, and my dreams are STILL being messed up by Inception.
The concept was just...wow. And the whole vagueness made it so cool! I traced quite a bit of inconsistencies, but if you don't focus on them it's just like...mind-blowingly awesome. 8D
I saw Inception about a week ago and it BLEW MY MIND, not to say I was quite brainfucked afterwards. It was soemtimes hard to follow but I ABSOLUTELY loved it! Are there any other fans out there? Who did you like the best? >u>
I have now seen this movie three times, the latest viewing was with my brother who attempted to convince the rest of us that the entire movie was a dream. While he had some valid points, I don't think it was.
