This sucks - I can see who's online and click their username to chat with them,
but I can't actually chat with them because the chat window won't open!

That's odd, I don't have that error, that chat feature actually works pretty well for me. :gonk:

It's all very new at the moment so some teething problems are to be expected, hopefully they'll all sort themselves out soon enough :)
I wonder if the IM issue could be something as simple as a pop-up blocker or similar?

I actually have a popup blocker (specifically Ad-Block Plus), but it doesn't hinder the new IMing feature at all.
Though, another error I have noticed, is it will still give me the tab title of "New Message Received" for long after I have checked that message, though, it only happened once, so it might have been a hiccup.

Ah, propably not pop-up related stuff then.
The new messages thing, where do you see that? Because I see it on my main tabs if I'm in a chat room, as it was confusing me a bit last night xD

Where the title of the thread is now (on my browser, I mean, not the actual thread title on the webpage), before when I got a new message apparently, it changed to "New Messages", though I honestly didn't see any, the last message I got was long before I went to bed...And then it just stayed there for a while until I opened and shut the Who's Online tab a couple of times.
So, it's probably a hiccup, but just saying it happened, in case it happens to other people, and it is in fact more than a new feature hiccup.

jellysundae: The IM isn't permanent though, right?
With the Facebook stuff alone, my browsing is labored and lagged so much.
And I don't really want them there...

Does it fix your lag issues if you sign off from the chat and minimize the bar?

This is a pemanent feature, it's not going away. I'd have thought not using/minimising it would prevent it from causing you any problems, too
Do you have a slow or shared connection then, M i r o? I'm suprised at anything on here causing lag.

Scratch that.
The "New Messages..." flashing in my window just won't friggin' stop even though I READ the message that triggered it like an hour ago, and have gone to a dozen new pages since. It's very annoying.
