[IMGleft]http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r19/FLAMMING_MONKEY/231155-bigthumbnail.jpg[/IMGleft]Nadya was hidden up in a tree after just setting up a large trap for a creature to unknowingly become her dinner. There was one problem though, Nadya did not realize how close the trap was setup near a path that lead to the nearest city. That dinner she was anticipating might end up something inedible. However she did not know any better, she was a being of the forest, often referred to as a gypsy. People from the cities believed that her people were hideous creatures that took on the form of a human, were beggars, thieves, and true barbarians. Not that their usually bright and cheerful wardrobes were ever described. Yes, she wore paint on her face and a had a few tattoos, but nothing frightening. When she walked twinkling of small bells could be heard, not screams or sickening things.
With such a naive perspective on the city people she thought they were decent and was curious to see what it was like inside their world. Though her companion, a cat like creature that was able to use camouflage like a chameleon named Sergio, thought other wise. Every time she went never that perspicuous wall his protests were loud and clear. Just like now he had a bad feeling about this day, even though Nadya was a 19 year old women he was still a nervous wreak.

On the other side of the wall, Eric was just getting off of work and was ready to hit the town for a good time. Eric was a 21 year old assistant to a scientist. He hated his job, there was so much paperwork to be filled, the room was always a mess. How he just couldn't understand scientist. There work space was always cluttered. It ended up from him being an assistant to a secretary always running errands and making sure things got done.
Now that he was out of that chaos he was working on getting his tie off curious what the night would bring him. He knew one thing he was going out to eat like every other night, he was the true bachelor that had no idea how to cook. So he let other people do it for him. Using his handy little phone he looked through all the nearby restaurants as he walked to his vehicle. Chinese, no, Mexican, no.... There were so many possibilities and all he wanted was a classic cheeseburger. Not some fancy themed place.
It came as a shock to him at how things changed so much when he was a kid. There was one fascination though that bothered everyone, the world outside of their enclosed shell. Getting from each city was a daunting task especially if night was upon them. The dangers increased. He would never get caught out there at night.

[IMGright]http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/britbrat78/goth/CloudedEyes.jpg[/IMGright]Alexandria crouched in the bushes, dagger held tight in her left hand. Her opaque eyes followed the large congregation of people as they made their way towards the Capital. Each person was adorned with jewels and such like...making them look absolutely ridiculous.
"Merial...." She whispered the Councilwoman's name softly, malice dripping from every word. She would have her revenge; she would kill all of them for what they did to her. The years she'd spent in exile had only fueled her rage. Every year that passed, Alexandria's hate had grown. Oh, yes. They would pay dearly for the pain they'd caused her...for the abuse and torture she'd suffered at Merial's hands.
Just thinking of what she'd been through caused a ripple of fear to course through her body. She bore the scars of their torment but soon...they would bear hers into the afterlife where they would burn in everlasting flame. They would suffer for eternity...just as she had suffered.

Vance stood quietly at the large lab window, staring out with a solemn expression on his face. If one did know better, they would think he was starting down at the people below. But, alas, he wasn't. His attention was focused more on the large bubble-like dome that encompassed the city. He'd always wondered what was on the other side. On more than one occasion, he'd asked his parents. They told him not to worry about things like that and had continued with their research.
Vance's parents were both Geneticists employed by the Council. What exactly they did, Vance didn't know. He did know, however, that it had something to do with mutations in humans. He'd accidentally read some compiled data he's father had left on his desk.
Vance himself did not wish to be a scientist. For years, he'd suspected the Council as being a corrupt form of government. He even suspected that they, including his parents, had been experimenting on people. He didn't have any proof, though. He had it in his mind, however, to one day prove to all the colonies that the Council should be disbanded. Easier said than done. The colonies had been constructed by the Council so everyone loved them, or pretended to at least.

A rare thing came to Nadya's acute ears. It sounded as if there was a group of people traveling somewhere. That was not common at all. With spiked curiosity she quickly tied her skirts back along with her hair. Carefully she moved across the largest and lowest branch. Wanted to see what was going on.
Now in a stable spot she looked down to see crowd of people gaudily dressed. Made her feel not so disgusted with her outfit. At least hers was colorful and tasteful. There was something off though, one of them was walking deeper into her woods near her tree...
The relief that flooded over her was immense when the woman just barely missed the trap she set up. Though there was something wrong. Nadya could feel it down to her core, something bad was going to happen in her home. One problem, she couldn't stop something she didn't know that was going to happen. So she decide to watch chewing on her lower lip nervously. What was that woman doing? Did she know about the tales.. She was definitely not from the jungle.
---------------------------------
Almost at his car Eric swore in a rage, he had just left his briefcase in the lab. Dropping his keys back into his pocket he made a dash back up all the stairs to the lab only to let out a frustrated groan. He was gone that long and the room was already a disaster, one thing was different though. Why was his boss' son here?
"If I may ask. Why are you here Vance?" he asked with as much politeness as he could before going back to the hunt for his briefcase. There were papers in it that he would have to copy, organize then bring them back and and file them away. It was one of the reasons he knew of Vince. The kids father talked about him all the time, something about how proud he was.
Eric never listened, didn't see any reason too. Now he had one though, never saw Vance in here before. Wanted to make sure everything was okay. Loosing his job would be horrible and trying to find a new one would be nearly impossible.

Time flew quickly and, eventually, the sun begun to set. Alexandria didn't have to worry, though. Thanks to the experiments done on her, she was able to see in the dark. The others were not so lucky. The minute the sun set, the group halted and built a large bonfire, to keep the creatures of the forest away. The fire had no effect on her and she was set on her purpose to take her revenge.
Soon, everyone fell asleep...aside from a few guards, that is. But they would be easy enough to avoid. Moving stealthily through the sleeping figures, she made her way towards the sleeping figure of her enemy. As she stood over the sleeping woman, a cold smile spread across her face.
Dagger raised for attack, she hesitated. Confused, she looked around to make sure she'd not been seen. After everything this woman had done, after all the pain she'd inflicted on Alexandria...she still could not bring herself to murder the woman. Why? What kept her from this? Growling in frustration, Alexandria stowed her dagger away and began backing away slowly.
"You there! Stop!" A voice shouted, rousing the sleeping woman. The minute Merial laid eyes on her, her face paled. Alexandria glanced briefly at the woman, winking, and then vanished into the forest.
----------------------------------------------------------
Vance merely glanced as the Lab assistant ran into the room. He didn't expect him to say anything to him, so few people did, that he was slightly surprised when the man spoke.
"What am I doing here?" He echoed, shrugging. "Don't know really. I suppose just getting out of the house for a bit." That was a lie, of course. He'd wanted proof of what the Council and his parents were up to but he hadn't found a thing. he was very disappointed.
"I'd ask what your doing, but it's fairly obvious." He nodded towards the forgotten briefcase. "Don't worry. This will stay between the two of us." He turned back to the window. "I wouldn't dream of having you fired because of a forgotten briefcase. And, also, sorry for the mess. I'll make sure to clean up before I leave."

Nadya seen the whole thing and her jaw just gaped open. None of it made sense, one thing was sure she didn't want any blood split in her home. Her people were kind and gentle. They killed only for food when needed, along with only large carnivorous animals. Fed as many people as they could possible before killing more animals.
When he girl came close enough Nadya jumped down her skirts pillowing behind her. The red sown into the yellow of the skirt was supposed to represent fire. A fire that blazed in her eyes. "What do you think you were doing?" she accused the woman with a glare that wasn't exactly angry. Nadya couldn't be mad even if the female before her tried to kill someone.
"Why did you pull a dagger out on that person?" She clarified wanting an answer her hand placed just above her own weapon. Then soon enough Sergio came to join Nadya on her shoulder hissing and growling. All the creatures hair was standing up on end. He was extremely suspicious and worried for his guardian.
------------------------------
Following Vance's nod Eric quickly picked up his briefcase before pausing with a raised eyebrow. If the boy did desire to have him fired why be so formal. Was such a pain anyway and he hated it. "Let you do my job?" he asked with a little skeptic scoff. Not like he would let that happen.
"I'm sorry I can not trust your word. I will clean up and you can help." he spoke with a smile setting his briefcase by the door, then took of his suit coat to get ready to get back to work. "I have no idea why a male of your age would get out of your home by going to your parents work..." He vocalized his opinion not holding it in.
Eric really had no idea why Vance was here, it made no sense at all. Without waiting for an answer he went to work organizing all the paperwork to then file it away too. Not like he had anything planned for the nigh.

Alexandria came to a dead halt when the mysterious girl leaped from the tree, landing directly in front of her. The girl was obviously a gypsy; she could tell from the face paint and decorative clothing the girl wore. When the girl began hurling accusations at her, demand to know things that weren't exactly any of her business.
"Listen, lady. What I do and who I do it to is none of your concern." She flipped her hair back and stared the girl down. "And if you must know, that...WOMAN..." She spat this last word out in undisguised fury. "...has caused me more pain than you shall ever know. Now, let me pass."
Her last words were not a question but more of a silent threat, Alexandria only slightly fingering the dagger she had concealed in her tunic. She did not wish this girl harm, for she'd done nothing to her, but she would have no choice if the girl did not remove herself from the path.
------------------------------------------------------
Vance surveyed the man for a brief moment longer before joining him in cleaning. "Most people would never dare speak to me in such a manner." Vance noted, piling some random papers on a nearby desk. "I find your honesty quite refreshing. It gets so tiresome when people treat me differently because of who my parents are."
His eyes shifted in the man's direction again. They looked very similar, he couldn't help but notice. They both had narrow faces and were slender in build. They both also possessed great intelligence; the other had to have. If he were not gifted with a high intellect, than the pair would not have been standing here having this conversation.
"And I would also like to apologize for my rudeness earlier. I'm afraid that I haven't been in a very good mood lately and i took my frustration out on you." He tried, to no effect, to remember the other's name. "I'm afraid your name escapes me, sir." He found no reason to be anything but honest with the other.

Nadya slid out her dagger and in seconds had it against the unpleasant females neck while Sergio camouflaged himself and went after the strangers weapon. This time the gypsies voice came out malicious. "It is my concern when you are attempting to spill a foreigners blood in my home." Even with the attempted stare down Nadya held her ground and gave her a glare right back. Kind but prideful protection overcame that and this female was threatening the safety of her world.
"I may not be well educated over the people of the cities, I know they were of high standing. It will cause a ruckus, one that would be directed towards us..." Nadya accused the girl with the thoughts that were rolling through her mind. "...I don't want a pointless war to arise from someones meaningless grudge."
The words she spoke didn't end there, she wasn't the type that was good at keeping her opinion to herself. "Why did you let that pain get to you? It didn't seem like she continued hurting you or you wouldn't be here right now. You couldn't even kill her. She hurt you so bad." Her words were anything but respectful she even laughed in disgust.
----------------------------------
It surprised Eric that his bosses son assisted him in cleaning, was a very kind gesture in his mind. "Are you my boss?" Eric asked with amusement in his voice taking the papers Vance stacked and started to file them away. "Until you are my superior and are a threat to my job I will give you the respect I believe you deserve." So now he would treat the boy like someone on the streets that he just met.
While he was file away the papers he left the file drawers open knowing more papers would be finding themselves in it. One thing continued bother him, and that was why that child was in the lab. No matter how hard he tried to ignore he couldn't help but glance over at him. At least his help was making the cleaning up go faster. "I don't care how rude you are as long as you are helping me and the name is Eric."
Once they were almost done Eric couldn't help in wanting to repay for the kindness he offered. "Let me repay you by taking you out to get something to eat. You wanted to get away from home didn't you? I don't think going to where your parents work is a good place to get away." If he was being honest why couldn't he? Not like anything bad could come from his offer.

Alexandria held her ground, not even flinching. "I had no intention of causing a war. If she were to die..." She shrugged, her white eyes void of any emotion. "..well, than her superiors would know exactly who killed her." A cold smile spread on her face. "If killing me will ease your mind, than by all means go ahead and try."
Unknown to the mysterious girl, Alexandria could not die...at least not easily. The experiments done on her had seen to that. Her body healed itself as soon as an injury occurred. She'd been burned, throat slit, and every bone in her body broken. The only thing that hadn't been done was for her to be beheaded. That would probably be the only thing that would cause her to die.
"You try watching your whole family be massacred, being experiment on for eleven years, and then thrown to the wolves when you'd served your purpose. Then you can lecture me on morals. As far as I am concerned, that woman deserves to die...painfully."
She tilted her head. "That would be the reason I decided not to kill the woman. She deserves worse than I knife in the heart. That would be a mercy killing." This was a lie of course. But the girl was a stranger; and she didn't trust strangers. "Having this woman in this forest can only mean trouble. My guess? She's traveling to the nearest colony to pursue genetic testing on people...your people, most likely."
--------------------------------------------------------
Vance chuckled at Eric's question. "No, I am not your boss. As far as I'm concerned, I will never be anyone's boss. I have no desire to take up my father's mantle...not one little bit. And I agree with you completely that respect should be earned." he sighed. "So many people now a days that think respect should be freely given to those of superior birth or authority..people who never in their life do a single deed to warrant said respect. 'Tis a shame really."
He place some more papers in a nearby filing cabinet. When Eric mentioned dinner, he turned and smirked. "Dinner? Well, that sounds just fine. I was beginning to get a little hungry anyway. What exactly did you have in mind, Eric? I know this really good burger joint just about two miles from here."

"I will not give you the pleasure of death if you are in such suffering." Nadya stood on level ground with the woman before her, not even her emotionless eyes phased Nadya. There was not point in letting someone like her get under her skin, she was protecting her home from a disgusting threat.
With a deep breath she slid the knife from the females neck but never moved out of the females way. "Why I'm not living in that city. I'm not as simple minded as you and living out her isn't hell. You made it that way and now you suffer in pain you caused yourself." Nadya's words were cruel she didn't see any pity towards the experiment before her. Found it rather demeaning that the girl still held such a grudge.
"But I'm guessing you expect me to pity you because you were experimented on. It hasn't seemed to affect you that much. You have the ability to move, speak, could of made us of it. Seems you decide to let yourself go." Nadya laughed along with the mere threat of her people getting taken for genetic testing. If the lady ventured into the woods on her own survival would be lacking and then taking her people. Survival would come to only death.
There was so much people didn't know about them. Unlike the city folk they all treated everyone like family and would never experiment on one another. Their leaders were the elders who lived through many experiences and knew a lot more then someone of her age. "They can try all they want but I don't they are that much of fouls to travel deep into the forest. Why else would they cage themselves off in that dome. Fear of this world is my guess."
---------------------------------
Eric put away the last stake of papers, closed the filling cabinets and rearranged the room one last time finishing with a smile. "That is surprising..." he said commenting on the fact Vance didn't want to take up his fathers research. "I only show your father respect because of the paycheck I get every week and the pleasant working environment. The ones with the two-faced respect will so learn the hard way when they get betrayed."
With the room cleaned once more Eric went to grab his briefcase and suit coat. "I believe you have just read my mind Vance. A burger joint would be just perfect. I could enjoy a nice cheeseburger then all these fancy themed restaurants sprouting up everywhere." he chuckled holding the door for Vance so they could go.

Alexandria remained silent. She was no longer in the mood to argue with this...girl. She now knew that this girl was one who felt no sympathy others so it was pointless to argue. She started to turn away and, when she did, noticed something very odd. The campfires were no longer lit in her enemy's tent.
"Something has happened." she stated and slowly began creeping back towards the campsite. When she arrived, she was horrified by what she saw; the entire campsite had been destroyed, all the people murdered. What manner of beast could have done such a thing? There had been no noise; no inkling that something was amiss.
------------------------------------------------------
Vance nodded in agreement and slowly followed Eric out of the room. "Shall we take your car or mine? Or separate?" He did not like making assumptions, therefore he found asking much more polite.
They were crossing the parking lot when an inhuman shriek echoed through the night, causing Vance to jump. He looked up, the direction the shriek had originated from and was slightly horrified to see a giant creature on the roof of the glass dome around them.
"Good God! What in heavens is that?!" Never in his life had he seen such a creature. It was the size of two school buses, the only reason it was visible from this distance, and had giant red glowing eyes. A pair of wings sprouted grotesquely from it's back and a long pink tongue hung from beneath it's sharp jowls.
(Thought I'd spice things up a bit.)

Nadya would of merely walked away like nothing that just happened did. That was till the vengeful female, spoke. Quickly Nadya turned and looked over the campsite. A slow swallow slid down her throat and Sergio growled from around her neck. Without another thought she grabbed the other girls arm. "Welcome to the forest." was all Nadya said. Hopefully her trap would ensnared the beast, but there was always a good chance it wouldn't.
With the foreigner in tow Nadya ran deeper into the forest her skirt billowing out around her. She may lack sympathy, allowing the woman to die in the forest, she wouldn't let happen. "I suggest you hold your tongue and be respectful if you don't want to meet what killed your tormentor." Nadya warned as she pulled the girl into her village, a village of caravans. They traveled constantly, never willing to stay in one place. The caravan was filled with animals from the forest, some wild, others tamed by other gypsies. It was a colorful and peaceful place.
"There is a big guy at the city dome." Nadya spoke to a few of the gypsies who spread the word like rapid fire. Most had shocked looks. Animals rarely went near the dome only if they were angered. They feared you as much as you feared them. Only if it wasn't one certain creature which got everyone worrying.
---------------------------------
"We shall take mine. Would be the easiest and most convenient." Eric spoke while pulling out his keys as they walked through the parking lot. Soon getting distracted by a shriek and the next few words that escaped Vance's lips. Only Eric had a much different reaction, he merely raised his eyebrow.
"That is one amazing creature and I'm thankful for the dome." He nodded at his own words as he made his way to his car. It was the only way Eric stayed calm in situations. Had to make light of things, reassuring himself their was nothing to worry about and it was that bad.
Truly though the creature was fascinating, one of the many reasons he wanted to venture through the forest at least one time in his life. There would be so much to see, minus the dangers that would come along with it. But adrenaline rushes were always exciting. "Wanna' take a closer look?"
[{Brilliant job.}]

Alexandria remained quiet, carefully examining the other gypsies. She absolutely detested being around this many people; she was a loner by nature, even before the experimentation. She'd hardly left the village at all, except for it was necessary.
Though the thought of a monster being out there disturbed her a great deal, she felt a slight wave of glee washing through her body. Her tormentor was dead. No longer would she be plagued by the constant fear of being taken again; she could finally live her life without worrying about her quest for revenge.
What now? She thought to herself, settling down on a rough tree stump. The past four years of her life had been filled with images of revenge. Without that one task to propel her forward in life, Alexandria now felt the void within herself she'd been trying so hard to avoid.
Vance was slightly disturbed by Eric's reaction to the beast. He acted so calm and collected...an attribute that Vance had always prided himself on having. He felt a slight twinge of regret at his actions. He was only glad that Father had not been there to witness his pathetic display of emotion.
"Did that creature not disturb you at all?" Vance inquired as they reached his car. He was curious; most normal people would have probably reacted very similar to Vance. Then again, Father only hired people that were slightly...off. It made it easier to cover-up his doings.

Once they were in the camp Nadya was put to work getting ready to move quickly if the beast decided to travel in their direction. They may of been people of the forest, but they knew better then to become food for some creature. All the work that needed to be done was exhausting giving Nadya the slim yet muscular build she had. Once she was done though, her guest was now something of her responsibility. Watching the female sitting there alone was kind of depressing.
"Alright, lets get you doing something, helpful." Nadya chuckled pulling the female up from the stump and lead her over to a small table of elderly men that seemed to be playing a game of poker. All of them were a friendly bunch and welcomed the new girl instantly. She was a new player on top of that, easily pleased they were. For Nadya she thought nothing could go wrong if she left her there.
"What is your name, dear?" One of them asked dealing out some cards to her already making her apart of the game without asking.
"It is Miss, you old fool." Another countered, bickering like happy little old men they were.
"Aw, don't get your panties in a bunch now Samuel..." The third and finally one spoke up, the mellow one in the group.
---------------
Eric unlocked the doors of his car so Vance could get in even as he continued to observe the beast soon distracted by the words from the young man. His brow creased at the middle perplexed. "How is it disturbing? I believe it is more fascinating then anything. To think what resides out of these walls. A whole new world we have yet to set foot in. It is menacing yes, but disturbing no." he explained himself before slipping into his car.
Now in the car Eric turned down the volume on his radio before even starting the vehicle. Liked his music rather loud when he was always traveling alone. Kept himself from getting distracted and doing something really stupid because he wasn't paying attention. Once the car was started he looked over at Vance to see if he was buckled in.

Alexandria was slightly surprised when the girl pulled her off the tree stump. She was even more so when she found herself seated at a table full of men, all who were playing some kind of card came.
"I'm called Alexandria." She responded, someone suspiciously, when one of the men asked her name. Who were these people and why were they acting so friendly towards her? She was caught off guard by this treatment, something she hadn't experienced in a while.
"What is this called?" She asked out of curiosity, motioning towards the cards. "I do not believe that I've ever played this game before."
Vance grudgingly nodded. "I suppose. I was just...caught off guard. I've never seen a creature like that before. It just came as a shock." Now that he'd calmed down, he was slightly embarrassed by his reaction.
He thought of something then. "What all do you know about the world outside the dome? I mean...have you ever ventured out? I know it's...against the law but I've never understood why. I believe that our government is hiding something from us." He left out the part where he believe his Father to be involved as well. For all he knew, Eric was part of the conspiracy.

Sergio climbed up onto the table next to Alexandria subsisting in for Nadya and all the elderly men at the table were glad to see the little guy. The all gave him a pat on the head only to turn back to the new girl in the camp.
"That is a lovely name!" Samuel spoke trying to make her feel more comfortable. They were just elderly men that liked to have fun.
"You are too old for her Samuel. And we are playing Gin Rummy my dear." Vance spoke showing her how to play, it was a simple game.
"Fools. So Alexandria, how did you met Nadya? She never hangs around anyone. Only animals." Tyler asked motioning over to Sergio that was pawing at Alexandria's card. He even knew how to play the game.
---------
Eric chuckled looking over at Vance before laughing even more. The connection was finally made. "Hey, don't worry I won't tell anyone that you got a shock from the creature just now. It'll be our secret." He looked over at Vance only to chuckle. Felt bad for the kid, a little. Not like Eric cared to go out of his way to ruin the kids image or tell his parents who were also his bosses. The ones who gave him money.
"I barely know anything to be honest, have yet to venture out into it though. Just know it is a lot different from inside here. Cleaner air, more dangers, but all the more reward. Your father is searching for something out there but I have no clue what. They humanoids that live out there are different. Stronger, healthier, things we desire." he shook his head at how greedy that just made their race sound. Knew one thing whatever was out there was truly fascinating and amazing.

Alexandria was a little hesitant about telling these elder men about her meeting with Nadya. Of course, she had no remorse for what she'd almost done; in her mind, those people had deserved to die. Though, perhaps not in the manner that they had.
"We met...in the forest. I was tracking something of great importance and that is how me met." She explained very sparely, hoping that the men did not inquire further. These men were nice...perhaps a bit too nice for her liking.
Vance laughed in response, nodding his head in appreciation. "Much obliged. Father would be none too pleased about my reaction."
He listen as Eric spoke about the things he knew. The man knew almost as much as he did; almost nothing useful though. He could never use this information to bring down his father and the people he worked for. Though it was slightly comforting to know that Eric shared his appreciation for the world outside the dome.
