I really like books of the gothic genre, and I like graphic novels too! What's your favorite genre?

I like the fantasy genre and not much else but, ironically, my favourtie book of all time is a coming of age comedy story about a South African boy at boarding school in the early nineties. Most definetely not the type of book I thought would be on my top five list XD

I like lots of genres, if I say I don't like a particular genre I know at some point I will find a book in that genre I love. I enjoy romance novels, but I love fantasy and graphic novels too. I love adventure and I like a bit of sci-fi too. C:

I like mysteries where there's more than one suspect and where you can try to solve the mystery before you finish the book. I also like books based with events of any past war we've had. I prefer World War II based usually though. Some people I know wonder why and how that came to be...

I seem to have quite a weakness for the action/adventure with a touch of humor type. ^^ I love those so much. Especially Maximum Ride and The Hunger Games. ^^

Well, I do enjoy mystery books; Books that make you think like the DaVinci Code, Angels and Demons, and the Lost Symbol.

I also enjoy fantasy books like Lord of the Rings and the Eragon Inheritance!
And my girly side comes out when I say I like Nicholas Sparks book.

I enjoy fantasy, historical fiction, and romance novels. They are usually best when they are all rolled up into one book. I also like graphic novels, usually in the same genres.

Historical fiction with romance, a touch of fantasy, a whole bunch of humor and a realistic not-happily-ever-after-ending. I can't read books that aren't funny. And yet I love tragic books... I'm such a hypocrite XD

I love fantasy books, because you change always change anything. Fantasy books are great because they always are different and aren't like other books which is good too.

Romance, comedy, and maybe a little mystery. I like books that crack me up, and make me go, 'aaawww' at the same time. xD

Fantasy, Romance, Mystery, and a bit of horror and humor. I really just love books that actually make me think after reading a chapter. I also like dark fantasy because its more realistic and interesting. :D

I would have to say that my favorite is Fantasy but I also like mystery novels and science fiction, sometimes I'll read non-fiction to learn things that I find incredibly interesting or to reasearch things I might end up writing about. So I like history books too.

I'm not sure I understand the point of this thread... Do you mean what type of book like what format the books are in? Or do you mean like what style of writing they are?

Alternative history? Is that like the stories about King Arthur and the Crusades and whatnot? Those are pretty good. One I really liked was by Stephen Lawhead about Saint Patrick. That was interesting.

I'm very much into dystopian novels at the moment - George Owell's 1984, Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale and the like. I also love biographic books such as Jean Sasson's Mayada, Daughter of Iraq and Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild.

I just realised how depressing my taste in books is.

1984 had me raging. "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" I actually yelled at the book when I read the last sentence. Personally though, the teenified version of that called Candor by Pam Bachorz was better. I liked how much more I could relate to it, because it seemed way less far fetched.

i like reading love novels, i like the suspense of wondering wether or not they are going to make it as a couple or if they are just going to throw it all away, and i really like the obsticles that some go through just to prove that they love each other and they arent going to throw their love away just becuz people dont want to see them together. and some of the novels i have read i feel like i can relate to in some way or another.
