So has anyone ever read any of her books.? She is absolutely awesome!! I have been Reading her Anita Blake Vampire series for a long time now and I can't wait to for more. She has two different series one is The Anita Blake series that has to do with Necromancy, Vampire's, Were animals such as were wolfs, leopards, tigers, lions, swans, panthers and so on. The second one is The Merry Gentry Series which has to do with Fairies. She is a half i guess you could say dark and light faerie which has to do with royalty and she has to get pregnant to make sure that her cousin doesn't get the throne because he hates her and wants to kill her. Lots have happened and there is over 8 books in both series and she will be coming with a new one for The Anita series really soon.. What are people's thoughts on Laurell K Hamilton's books if you already know of her. And would you think of reading her if you haven't.

I've never read the Anita Blake series but I do know about the author and a bit about the novels because I like to wander sites involving books often.

Now, from what I've heard, the Anita Blake series started out fantastic but after the seventh book, they started going downhill and that even a lot of hardcore fans have given up :(

It's because of this that I doubt I'll ever read them because I don't wont to start a series and never finish.

Ohhh, I love Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series. ^____^ I tried really hard to get into the Merry Gentry books but didn't like those nearly as much. xD;;
I love love love the leopards in the Anita series. Nathaniel is my favorite character, hands down. :3 I also love Jason because he's so much fun. xD

I really liked the books up until a certain point...I can't really tell you what point it was though. I liked when the books were a healthy dose of the crime solving and supernatural. I was disappointed when it got to the point where it was like 'Whelp. How many more men can Anita collect? :D'

I really guess it depends on what you like to read. The books do have a lot of sex in them but the first 3 books don't have any sex at all. Once you get past the third book sex becomes involved, but not a lot really its just natural intercourse. But once you get to the 11 book something really big happens which then causes her to have a lot of sex from 12 up. She has 19 books of just the Anita Blake series and the last one she came out with didn't revolve around sex and neither did the one before it or technically the one before that as well.
(See list at the bottom of my post for which ones I'm talking about)
I would have to say that the books do get a little blah in the center at least like 2 or three of them. But they are wonderful book. I would say you should try them but once again it is all preference on what you like. I am somewhat a provert so sex doesn't bother me, but I d know reading about sex weirds some people out or makes some people all blah. But for anyone who wants to enjoy the series you should. I love these books, I just hope people will too!

List of The Anita Blake Series:
1) Guilty Pleasures
2) The Laughing Corpse
3) Circus Of The Damned
4) Lunatic Cafe
5) Bloody Bones
6) The Killing Dance
7) Burnt Offerings
8) Blue Moon
9) Obsidian Butterfly
10) Narcissus and Chains
11) Cerulean Sins
12) Incubus Dreams
13) Micah
14) Danse Macabre
15) The Harlequin
16) Blood Noir
17) Skin Trade
18) Flirt
19) Bullet

I agree with you Nathaniel is one of my Favorite characters too! He is so yummy and handsome I wish I could eat him.. Or maybe not.. I don't think I could eat Leopard I would be sad. Jason is good he comes from a kinda creepy town though >_<```

Though I would have to say that Damian is one of my all time favorite Vampires.
I do agree on the subject of her collecting to much men. I know she keeps adding but she get herself to the point of only a few as the stories go. Which makes me a bit happier I have a hard time sometimes remembering the men she does her deeds with lol.
I wish I could get myself to sit a read the fay books. I know that the one book I'm stuck on if I was to skip it I would be just fine but... Yeah I don't know whether I gonna force myself to read through it or skip it. I've been reading these book since I was like 13 so almost 10 years and I have to say that he books are some of the coolest.

Even though it was so short, I really enjoyed Flirt for the fact that Nathaniel and Jason were so adorable. I loved them trying to teach Anita how to flirt. Ahaha. :3

It's hard for me to pick a favorite vamp. I like Asher, but he can be kind of catty from time to time. I might just have to be lame and say that I'm a Jean-Claude gal. xD I liked Richard...up until a certain point. I don't even know how to describe him though. Just...ugh.

I read a few chapters of the fay books and I know you should read more than that to really know if you like it or not, but...I just couldn't do it. I might try to give them a shot some day if I get bored enough. I dunno though. It's really not looking promising for Merry and her gang. xD;

I absolutely adore this author. I've read all of her AN books at least twice ... though I tend to skim the sex >.> The vampires are hot and Anita is kickass. I like both Asher and Jean-Claude, I've never been able to pick a favorite between them. Richards a guy I like off and on ... after a certain point he gets very angry and hateful .... but well ... crap that's a spoiler ... something happens and he gets better .... >.> so I like him again.

As for the Merry Gentry series, I started reading it, then got distracted by something else. heh. I need to go back and reread it. I liked what I did read, though there's a lot of sex involved ....

The characters are good, and again, I don't have a favorite .... okay, yes, I do. I like Darkness .... not that I can remember his actual name for the life of me ......

I never read the Anita Blake series but I read the Meredith Gentry series and loved it. There was definitely a lot of sex involved but they were really good books.

I remember reading her books religiously while I was in High School. After a point it got way to smutty for my taste, but I do still like reading her work.

Ive read all her work for the most part both her major series and the nightseer book plus the anthologies she has been apart of i like them all but agree that the AB series has gotten a bit smutty for me so i usually wait a while and then read to or three book to catch up.

I love the Anita Blake series. Even after the sex was amped up I liked them, it fit. Though if anyone has picked up the last book(Hit List) it actually is like some of the earlier books which was a nice change of pace. Plus you get to see a new side of Edward and Anita's friendship which I really enjoyed.

The only thing that bothered me about Flirt was other readers. A lot of other people I know or what I read online about it complained about how short the book was, but it was a novella, not a novel. It wasn't suppose to be very long. I read somewhere that the book was very spur of the moment, just came to her while writing other things and wouldn't leave until she wrote it.

I love Laurell K. Hamilton!! I've read both her Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series, and both of them are fantastic! I know a lot of people were put off when the Anita Blake series became more sex orientated, but I thought it was an impressive way of developing Anita's character. The Merry Gentry series was both violent and sexual, with no apologies, and that worked very well. Like many a fan, I have worried that Merry's story was at an end so you can imagine how excited I am that a new book is coming out winter of next year! :D

I absolutely adored the first handful of books, it was really refreshing to see a strong, badass character like Anita who can hold her own against all the baddies and be a really inspiration female leader. At first, I didn't mind the smutty parts, and kinda enjoyed it because, well, it was good in smaller doses. I got really really exasperated though with some of the books. Have you guys read Micah? The whole book is smaller than all the other ones, it's all double-spaced, and there is a blank page after every chapter... It was a dissapointment to me.

I've been told that later on it gets better, but I don't have the drive to keep reading them anymore. Which is sad, because I'm a huge fan of the early series.

I do occasionally reread some of the ones I own though. I have the first few, and Obsidian Butterfly I like to read because of Edward, and the return to real Action.. although it's a little traumatizing at parts. D:

My friends have kind of pushed me into reading her books, the first 3 were kind of flat and a struggle to get into, but after that it's picked up a bit. They are good for mind candy, kind of like the Sookie Stackhouse novels. A fun read.
