Sooo, for the longest time now I've wished there were coin items on Mene. :ninja:
With a Marketplace now, I really feel having a coin item could benefit the site, by bringing in more money. Plus, they'd circulate nicely. C:

I've just seen tons of *amazing* item suggestions, in both the CI suggestion thread and the regular item suggestion thread. Items that aren't quite "CI's" but aren't really "regular" either, but fall in-between. :'3

Are you talking about a cash shop? I believe they have said that they will do one of those in the future.

Nooo, I'm not saying a cash shop. I'm saying like, paying for an item, that when you open it it'll give you a random item. From one that's rare to one that's not-so-rare.

They have them on Gaia I believe, and I know Ernya for sure.. but I'm not saying a cash shop by any means, just another item to add that we could donate for, that could be listed under the CI's. xD

You buy it, open it, get a random "chance" item. The random can be either a "rare" one from it or a non-rare one, and whatnot xD

.Simplicity.'s talking about RIGs. These are something that cause mad fury on Gaia because people buy them and always get the crap items from them, not the decent stuff that people would actually want, because Gaia's RIGs are probably just that...and always have been, if you find a pink or blue box or a trunk you can pretty much guarantee that you'll get some piece of tatt like a dried grass skirt or a bobbly antenna headband out of it, rather than something that's actually worth having...

@Saisei - Well, yeah? I wouldn't want anything like Gaia has, as Jelly mentioned with the random giftboxes. Those are trash because you never get anything good.

What I'm *trying* to suggest is something like Ernya's system. The site itself releases a new coin each month and within each coin are about 5-6 different items you can win. You can get a common one, a not so common one, or one of the rare ones. On Ernya, when they release them, they say what's inside of them in the announcement, which I believe is to try and make people buy them, but I'd rather it be random...but at the same time, knowing what's inside them would highly encourage me to purchase one, in hopes of getting the item I want.

Edit; Also, once a new coin item is released, the old one is gone forever, which is un-like Gaia's system. So you can't always have a chance at getting the items, as you do on Gaia.

Why? It's just like these new cows in a sense (As they're unexpected items), except you're spending your gold for the item that only The Auctioneer can release until more get out in the open.

With something like this, there would be more new items introduced into the site to keep users active and on their toes and it's something that Mene could profit off of.

Care to elaborate on why you don't like the idea of a chance item though?

If it was something that is only available through the chance item then I could justify paying for it seeing as it would be just like a CI but random. Like bonus items that you can donate for but that would mean more work for the pixelists.

But I just do want it to get to the point where I dont want to come on cause I'm scared I would spend about 100 dollars in an hour trying to get rares.....

If its something like every other month or so..... then I guess thats OK

I don't really like the idea, simply because I want to know what I'm buying and how it's going to look. I rarely buy items for future avatars, usually I just work on my current until I get bored of it. To spend real money on an item that I don't even know what it's going to look like, i just refuse to do it. But thats just me.

That's exactly what I was thinking~ :yes:
It would be more work, but perhaps they could be released for a month when a pixelist has the free time, so they wouldn't be a "frequent" thing but would also be random. :'3

Welllll, the way I look at this is simply if you don't want to take the chance, then don't spend your money? :sweat:

There comes a time when you have to know what to spend and what not to spend..but it's a gamble at your own risk type of thing. Why not just wait for others to get them and sell the items..?

But you would? With this type of item you'd be shown what was in it before, so you could see if you wanted to gamble with it or not..
I can see why you wouldn't want to do this though, as your reason is a fine reason not to buy them with cash, but there could always be an item you like, that you can buy at a future date. :P

This idea has me torn.

On one hand it may help bring in money......on the other hand these items are easily manipulated by higher ups....like on gaia. I don't really think they would manipulate them....but whose to say they wont....?

I think more-or-less that's where choosing how "rare" or how hard an item would be to get from the coin comes into play..

I like to think that as long as there's active users in the market these type of items wouldn't be that bad to get ahold of. :'3

I actually don't mind this idea. I think it could be a once a month release along with CIs but I would prefer if I knew the items I would be able to get. Like if there are 6 items and one or two are rares would be a nice number. c: I could see this as a special item that would be a same price as a CI.

I would partake of it if they showed me the items first because I'd like to see what it is I might be getting. I just wouldn't be willing to spend rl money on something that I may not like in the end.

Alright, so here's my best show at explaining what I think would work nicely. ^^

Around the *middle* of the month the new coins would be introduced. Maybe something like this could draw people in during the middle of the month instead of just the beginning for the new CI's? :'3
Anyways, there would be an announcement, and in the announcement there could be a banner, an announcement of the items themselves, and then in the next pose perhaps a place showing off the poses for each one. ^^

Plus, I would think, with something like this, to make people more willing to buy it, perhaps make it cheaper than CI's? ^^; Something like $1.00 - $1.50, instead of $2.50, that way more people would be open to spending their money on it. :'3

I think the CI's are set at 2.50 because thats the lowest amount they can set it at and still make a profit after third party fees....I do believe that was mentioned somewhere in the past.

Are you sure you're not mixing this up with SMS payments for Mennies? As those have a minimum purchase because of transaction fees.

Personally, I'm tired of chance items and wasting money on things like them.
Yes, they're fun. But they stop being fun pretty quick if you never win the item you like.
