How do you like watching your anime? In your language (Dubbed) or in their language, with your language subtitles (subbed)?

I prefer subbed. The characters voices sound better, and more fit, in their natural language. Not all English actors are bad (I'm from America, so dubbed would be Japanese -> English). Plus, I like subtitles in almost everything I watch, even if it's just television. Makes me pay more attention to what's going on, when I read what they're saying instead of just hearing.

Definitely subbed. I like hearing the original voices. Unfortunately just about all the anime that I see on TV are dubbed...and it's all basically the same few people doing the dubbing so you keep hearing repeat voices and sometimes recognize it as some other character from another anime that they had dubbed...>_>

English voiceovers are okay, at least they mostly keep to how the original voices sound, like if someone has a deep voice, they try to get someone with a deep voice to do their voice. But the ones I've been hearing here in Taiwan (thus, in Chinese), sometimes they're completely wacky because they don't have the voices needed for the character. Like for Yami from Yu-Gi-Oh!, his original Japanese voice was a deep one, and the American dubber also had a rather deep voice. But the one doing the Chinese dubbing had a higher-pitched voice and it just sounded off. D:

I definitely prefer subbed. However, I once watched the Chinese dubbed version of Fruits Basket anime and thought the voices were pretty well matched to the original...at least from memory.

It really depends on who dubbed it and which version I saw first. If it's a really bad dub, like, 4kids quality, then definitely subbed. But if it's a decent dub, I can watch it and sometimes prefer it over the original if I've seen it first. I personally prefer the English voices in Azumanga Daioh, simply because I saw that version first.

Dubbed--unless it's by 4kids or an equally bad production company.

I liked subbed, don't get me wrong, but, in general, if there's a dubbed version, I'd rather watch it first.
I hate watching things subbed because I can't multitask, and not multitasking drives me nuts.

That really depends... in many cases I really like hearing the original voices but one exception to that is the OVA of Hellsing, I really feel that the accents are important and I can't pick up on them in Japanese. The story takes place in England so it's odd for me to listen to English/Scottish/German characters speaking Japanese or French or Russian or something. I'm not knocking the original voice actors, I just think it's a little more believable in the English dub and it helps me get into the story a little better if the characters sound like they might actually come from their place of origin.

SUBBED. I used to watch stuff dubbed...BUT NO MORE. NO MORE I TELL YOU.

It depends on the anime. If it's an anime with a lot of young high-pitched moe girls, then I can't stand their original Japanese voices and would rather have the dubbed (ex. Tohru's japanese voice in Fruits Basket EEEEEERRRRRRR).

9/10 funimation dubs I wish to kill with fire. I can't stand Naruto dub. Some of them like FMA or Death Note I like both the sub and dub. I love Axis Powers hetalia sub, but I wish to kill the dub with fire (except for Eric Vale, he is king <3) If it has Romi Park in it, there is a 99.9% chance I will watch the subbed, and if it has Yuri Lowenthal in it, I will most likely stay away. Some animes subbed is the only option because not enough people in English speaking countries want it dubbed.

The best solution is just to read the manga since I like it better anyway, and you can picture the character's voices in your head how you want them, so they won't be disappointed. (I imagine Tobi/Madara Uchiha with a voice identical to Ross the intern ^_^).

I actually prefer dubbed. I mean, I hate the 4kids crap and some of Geneon's stuff wa just awful, but Funimation, I think, does a fantastic job of dubbing animes. And they do a lot of the shows that I have an interest in. So yes I like the dubs better. I have no reason to not like the subbed. But I never said I didn't like them. I do. I just like the dubs more.

I see the merits in both. Given that I usually buy my anime, not just watch it on TV (not saying there is a problem with that either, I just tend to like animes that are not on TV). I'll watch it one way then the other to compare the differences.

It depends, like Faulkner, I'm more likely to listen to the English dub over the original Japanese track with subs if the setting is western oriented like Baccano!or FullMetal Alchemist.

I prefer subbed most of the time, but some dubbed are good too.

I only watch dubs that are by Funimation,or any other GOOD/DECENT company.

Personally I hate dubbed ones.
They ruin the essence of the movie.

I like subbed for two reasons.
1.) The original actors make it seem much more like acting instead of just reading a script
2.) because reading subtitles takes away from me looking at the mouth. When watching a dubbed, the only thing to keep my occupied is the mouths, which dont move properly to what they are saying.

I prefer dubbed, though I have seen subbed animus and I didn't think much of it.
I just like anime and don't really care which :)

I LOVE Geneon's older stuff--I don't know any of their newer stuff. But the old stuff done in the 90s and earth 2000s~~ awesome!

I can't exactly say I prefer ether or, really.
I'll watch both subbed and dubbed series and decide which I enjoyed more for simple that particular series.
Like, just because I enjoy Azumanga Daioh's sub more doesn't mean I like every other sub over the dubs of the same company.

I don't like 4Kids though... I've yet to find ANYTHING that I've liked from them...

I can watch an anime either way. But sometimes the English dubs can ruin the characters. And then reading subs all the time can probably result in having to watch the scene again. Because, it's kind of hard to concentrate on reading the subtitles and watching what happens in the anime at the same time. For me that is. I'm kind of slow at reading.XD

definitely dubbed I'd rather be able to understand whats being said then have to read it. I think it kind of takes away from what your watching especially when the sub titles are more then 1 line long sometimes you can miss the last word or two and could miss something unless you have the ability to rewind.

I definatley without a doubt prefer dubbed. I can't stand hearing the voices I can't understand. I tried watching subbed anime before and it annoyed me that I had to spend more time reading the subtitles than actually enjoy myself watching the anime. Not to mention most of the japanese voices sound the same to me. So dubbed for me. No japanese. I like my english.
