I know it's an old movie but I think pretty much everyone's seen it, if not where have you been?

Something occurred to me the last time I watched it. I think with Mary's ability to pull out ridiculously large objects out of her bag that she's really a witch.

I know there's that whole running gag about women carrying around over sized purses but really. Aside from her bag she can turn clouds into stairs, change the animals on a merry-go-round into live animals and all the other crazy things that happen in that movie.

So I'm saying that Mary Poppins is a witch. Anyone else agree with me?

Of course she's a witch. That's a textbook Undetectable Extension Charm XD

I love the movie too - I have it on DVD. I also read the books as a kid, they were awesome.

She jumps into a chalk drawing. Definitely a witch, in the best of ways!

lol ok cool I thought I was the only one that made that connection. A friend of my and I actually got into a debate over it. I was trying to convince them that she was in fact a witch but they were stubborn saying that "it's a Disney movie and Disney would never endorse anything as "questionable" as witch craft".

lol which of course isn't true (any of their princess is proof of that).

I think to many people link witch craft or magic to evil.

Oxo FireOnix, where are you from? I haven't heard about "questionable" witchcraft since I lived in the midwest. Most people these days are able to distinguish between entertainment and real voodoo stuff.

Also, there's magic in every Disney movie ever. xP

Around the same time Disney also put out a film called 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks' and the character in that is -definitely- a witch.

I love Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. They are both great, although I like Bedknobs and Broomsticks a bit more because of the end scene where all the museum stuff comes to life and kicks Nazi ass. It's just so awesome. xD

But... Mary Poppins has great music and is really fun. I love the chimnee sweep guy (can't remember his name Dx).

Bert! He's my favourite too. XD

Ok, does the suffragette mother amuse anyone else? She's always going on about women's rights.. but then she's just like "Oh, I can't possibly make a decision without my husband's approval."

Yes, I LOVE the suffragette mother xD Her musical number is one of my favorites; she cracks me up, as sexist as she could be seen.

On the topic of magic and caretakers, I was a fan of Mrs. Piggly-Wiggly as a child.

I'm from the North East. It doesn't really matter where you live stereotypes and labels live everywhere. I've been accused of being a devil worshiper based on a necklace I wear. I'm not of course but that doesn't stop anyone.

I just started this topic to get a conversation going I'm not trying to start anything devious.
