Those are words I heard often as a child and I vowed that when I was all grown up, I would never utter those words to my kids. No matter how much they might need to hear them...
This is my journal on my goal and journey of adopting a Yan-Yan. I hear that Yan-Yan can be very demanding but I'm willing to do my best.
Of course, it might not be a good sign when the adoption lady was so quick to hand the little bundle over. And I swear I heard her whisper a "Thank you Peeblo for letting me get rid of this terror!" But she couldn't have meant Yan-Yan. I'll assume it was some other baby up for adoption that was giving her grief.
When I arrived back home, it was clear to see what Yan-Yan wanted to do. But how does one explain to him that Catherine is too mature for him? Oh dear... He threw a small fit. But I must not allow those dreaded words to leave my mouth! I'll promise to let him play tomorrow if he behaves.

A second entry for the first day! But in an odd way, I found this too cute to not share. While I was able to calm little Yan-Yan down by promising him that I would let him watch me play Catherine tomorrow, it was short-lived.
Who knew he was so smart?! He put two and two together from the back of the game case. And posed a good question. "How does that Vincent guy get the ladies?" I stutter... Not even I know how the goofy dude gets both Katherine and Catherine. "It's those lame boxers, isn't it?" I shrug and tell him that I don't think that's the case. But he got a crazy idea that he wanted to dress like Vincent. "To get in Catherine's bosom" as Vincent is portrayed in the cover.
When I denied him this, he began to throw yet another fit. This one a little bigger than the first. And yes, I was able to prevent the dreaded words again. So I merrily went about making him a Yan-Yan sized pair of boxers, just like Vincent's. And then he had to have the pillow. And the horns.
I will assume, by the careless array of video games in my room and the fact that I found a slumbering Yan-Yan on one of said games, that my little Yan-Yan stayed up late last night and played some games.
Just recently was I able to wake him from a rather deep sleep. I assume it was a deep sleep as there was some drool and I heard him remark "Die, sheep, die!" and made a motion that he was shoving (?) something out of the way.
This did make me smile, I will admit, as I listened to the soft snores and occasional "Hyah!" But I can't have him waste the day by sleeping! No, I need to make sure he gets food. And has a chance to hang out with my boys.
Perhaps, I should have explained it better to him... But now there's a very Yan-Yan sized mess mixed with some Chicken in a Biscuits. It all started when I asked Yan-Yan if he was hungry. I reminded him that he would have to wait until later for some baked spaghetti but I did have some things he could snack on.
When I showed him the things in the cabinets, his eyes automatically were drawn toward the Chicken in a Biscuit box. "Chicken! Chicken!" he excitedly exclaimed as he jumped up and down. At this time, I didn't think that he thought there was real chicken in the box.
Well, I think he found out that this was not a yummy poultry treat when he took that first bite. In fact, he spit it out in disgust and downed the whole can of Mello Yello! And threw the box of crackers all over my room. :(
Luckily, I did manage to take a picture of him with the crackers before he made his little mess. I thought I would update this before I set off to clean his mess.
Managed to get his mess cleaned up. Of course, Yan-Yan didn't offer to help at all. That was fine. So I let him go play with the boys.
Before I knew it, he had them playing a game he liked to call, "Jump off the dresser and on to the bed." Needless to say, that game was short-lived. I had to explain to all three how dangerous it was. Instead, I asked them to sit down on the bed and watch some TV. Seems like Yan-Yan really enjoys Family Guy.
Then came time to fix dinner! Yan-Yan was so excited to help me cook the ground beef that goes in the baked spaghetti. I made sure to let him know how hot grease could hurt him if he wasn't careful and I have to say that I was proud that he didn't get any grease on him.
Poor I was up all night with a terrible toothache and only managed to go to bed at a rather late/early time. I did wind up getting a few hours of sleep and woke up fairly refreshed. Tooth still hurts some but I can deal with it.
One thing I had noticed was how quiet it was in the house. Panic arose as I went to make sure that the boys and Yan-Yan hadn't raided the cabinets.
But how cute it was to see that Yan-Yan had decided to be the "big brother" and keep the kids in line. Courtesy of a rather colorful toy gun too.
So little Yan-Yan had wanted me to show everyone how he makes his way through the house. It does seem like he was shy while I recorded him in his personal basket carrier but when he first came across it, all I heard was cries of happiness and impatience.
It would seem as if Yan-Yan knows how to use my laptop. And what my credit card info is! When I checked the mail today, there was a small package addressed to him. Now, I'm not one to snoop and be nosy but I was curious as to just what my little Yan-Yan had delivered to him.
I handed it over, casually mentioning how nice it was that a friend (perhaps?) had thought to send him a gift. He ignored me and took off to my bedroom. I let him stay in there a few minutes in case it was a gift of panties as I'm sure he would be embarrassed.
Well, minutes turned into about half a hour... So my patience was wearing thin. Surely whatever he got couldn't take that long to look at...
Perhaps I was wrong. Also, after checking my bank account, it seems that little Yan-Yan's new 'hobby' costs $15. -.- Time for those words yet? It might be.
Little Yan-Yan has been acting all sweet and lovable today. My first thought was that he had done something bad. Or he found out that I had found out about that naughty book he ordered.
That wasn't the case. He scooted next to me as I was online and said in the cutest Yan-Yan voice ever: "Mommy, wanna see what you are getting me for Christmas?" First, I was all mushy over him calling me mommy. <3 Then, my mind got to racing... What did little Yan-Yan expect me to get him for Christmas? A toy dinosaur?! Panties?!
Nope, this is what he expects from me:
Oh, my little Yan-Yan... Do they even make boxes big enough to put her in?
Dinner time, my little Yan-Yan! Tonight, we're eating a yummy meal of chili beans. Oh, and you get to sleep in the boys room tonight. Beans aren't called the musical fruit for nothing.
I know that Yan-Yan can feed himself. I watched him devour a cheeseburger in two bites. But tonight he wanted to be babied. And after him calling me mommy, I couldn't resist.
Tasty, aren't they? And they are more meat than beans. Just the way you like them.
Little Yan-Yan was so eager to help me get the boys ready for their first day of school. He double-checked the backpacks to make sure all the supplies were in place and he dubbed the backpack mountain as "Yan-Yan Kingdom."
While he gave a rousing speech to his (invisible) subjects, I had to wake up my boys and help them get dressed for school. Looking so handsome, I had to take a picture of my three boys.
Yan-Yan did fuss a little that he couldn't ride the school bus with the boys but his mood brightened up when I explained that right now, he would be able to go to school one day. He just needs to grow a little more. Also, mentioned that school doesn't have an "all-you-can-eat" buffet.
Little Yan-Yan found the stash of Reese's Cups. Luckily, I got to him before he could eat the whole bag. Though he got plenty hyper from eating only half the bag.
Proof how hyper he was is in the photos below. No drawer was safe ("Yan-Yan, those panties aren't mine... They're Game Master's.") and he thought he was sneaky by hanging out in the cereal box. Glancing at the box, I would say that all the marshmallows have been eaten.
Oh, little Yan-Yan... I hope this sugar high doesn't last too long.
Sugar rush is still going strong but little Yan-Yan isn't bouncing off the walls anymore. He decided today to go introduce himself to all the fine folks around here. first was the guy from Fallout 3. I didn't have it in me to tell Yan-Yan that his new dinosaur costume is more cute than scary. But he did scare the guy stiff!
Next was Uncle Raiho. Yan-Yan took an automatic liking to this finely dressed Jack Frost. I was a bit worried as Uncle Raiho is very picky of who he hangs out with but the piggyback ride he gave Yan-Yan is a good sign.
He also was nice enough to give Yan-Yan a gift! Though my little Yan-Yan is too young to gamble, I let him scratch the tickets. Not like they would be winners...
Yan-Yan, you won $14?! You lucky duck you! I'll let you spend that money on yourself. Just wait until I can get them cashed.
After school today, all three boys wanted something to do. Little Yan-Yan wanted to play Call of Duty: Black Ops but when he saw the zombies, it scared him. And he went crazy and wasted all the ammo. So he watched someone else play and offered some hints. "Run away!" and "Zombies dun have baobees!" echoed through the room.
It wasn't long before Yan-Yan wanted to play as the Incredible Hulk so I let him play my PSP and Matthew's copy of Super Hero Squad.
Yan-Yan was disappointed that my game collection was lacking women who took advantage of the bouncing boob physics.
Party time for Yan-Yan! Despite the fact that we had company stay over last night, it didn't stop little Yan-Yan for socializing with a few gal pals. And I wouldn't have found out if it wasn't for the picture of him mingling with Miss Kitty and the Green Lady.
I really dig your taste in music, little Yan-Yan. Too Sexy by Right Said Fred really does fit your personality.
