Do you like Aion or World of Warcraft better.

So I recently discovered the game Aion and have played it for a little while, but not enough to say I like it or WoW better. I have played WoW off and on over the years and have yet to put it down.

Even though I played Aion on a private server, I have to say that it is a lot more fun than WoW was. There are more quests, more items to get, refining is at least simple. The graphics are better, as is the music.

Aion is a very PRETTY game, and like all especially pretty games, it outranks WoW in terms of graphics. WoW frustrates me a little in that some very old areas - like, for example, the Blood Elf starting area - still have two-dimensional trees and "pop-up" bushes.

But WoW does an excellent job of doing something that most MMOs have a hard time with - making all of the quests revolve around a circular plot. You don't feel like you're just running around doing errands. Everything you do, in every zone you enter, seems to have an effect on the storyline.

A good example of this is a dragon egg you obtain as a quest reward in a level 50 area. Since the 4.3 patch, there's a new endgame quest that directly involves that egg you picked up. This little junk quest, in an area most people choose not to level in, ends up having significantly profound effects on the Cataclysm quests!

WoW's raiding system is so dynamic, challenging and well-designed that I honestly haven't found an MMO yet that even comes close to comparing to it.

And while most of its' music is pretty generic, there are a few zones where the music outright beats any other RPG music I've ever heard. Grizzly Hills and the Argent Tournament Grounds come to mind.

My only other regret about WoW - which Aion doesn't tackle any better - is a severe lack of puzzle and brainteasing challenges. I switched from Dungeons and Dragons Online to WoW, and was disappointed when the puzzles I'd come to love became a thing of a past. Nothing's quite as fun as hearing your best friend screaming at you to "finish the damn puzzle!" while you're sitting there scribbling the clues on a piece of paper, and there are giant man-eating spiders attempting to eat you both.

Except the thing with Aion is that the quests do revolve around a central plot especially when you're playing as the Elyos faction and have to do the Memory quests which explains why you lost your memory. And even the abyss quests.

What's great about Aion is the crucible challenge which you can do as many times as you want solo mode and obtain medals which can be redeemed for fashion, weapons and armor.

How are the people in Aion... WoW has become a HUGE haven for spammers, douche bags, and.... little kids. I am, luckilly, in a good guild with many mature and laid back gamers... an arena here a raid there.....

I stand by WoW.
Sure it's not as pretty, but there's a reason for that.
Blizzard made the game not super detailed so that nearly any decent computer could run it.
The reason the BE starting area has sucky trees and bushes is because that's a Burning Crusade era zone. It hasn't been updated like the rest of Azeroth has. The same can be applied to the Draenei starting area and Outland. I'm absolutely certain Blizzard has plans to update these areas in time, but it takes a lot of work to do something like that.

They did take a step in the right direction a while back though. When they added the higher quality water option.
If you have your water setting set higher, the water will appear much better.

I've only played a private server. There are a good handful of people in the game that I have met, especially on the Elyos faction. Though there are a few people who act like children. (Like this one guy who constantly calls people nerds when they call him out for being a fail chanter/gladiator. Seriously...he's worse at his class than what I am).

However the game has attracted some hackers. And some of the gms can be major douchebags and even crybabys...but that's all I will say.

It's not just WoW that's attracted people like that. Any game has those people.
It's an internet thing and there's no way of getting around it.
