A rash of attacks in Newyork city has left the people in a panic. men and women have been

found in the streets, too much blood pooled around them at the scene to have them still be

alive, pouring from a singular bite mark at the neck just beneath the jaw, piercing both the

carotid artery, and the jugular vein. these people wake within hours, sometimes minutes of

being found. always during interrogation, they complain of a thirst that they cannot slack, and

headaches that send them to the hospital within a day. they come home feeling fine, but are

often seen stalking the streets at night. what are they now those that should be dead and

walk?

Ardener road his skateboard down the street lazily, turning down his usual shortcut through the alleys. he didnt hear the rustle of clothing behind him, and by the time he felt her fingers on his shoulders, dragging him off of the skateboard. "You smell..... divine" Something hit him over the back of the head, hard enough to fracture his scull.

Ouai stood over him for a few moments, staring down at him, taking in his beauty. she knelt down and tore into his neck, drinking her fill of his blood and leaving him to die in the alley.

Ardener's hand trailed up to cover the wound in his neck, from which blood was flowing freely and without cease. he could see flashing lights on the backs of his eyelids, and slowly opened them. police milled around, a few staring at him in shocked amazement while the others had yet to notice."wh- what happened to me?" they continued staring at him for several moments until one of them finally offered him a hand up and he stood up, stumbling hard into the alley wall. "you ok kid? what happened to you?"
"lay off jack, whatever it was-
Ardener tuned them out, sliding down the wall and clutching his head in pain. one of them came up kid, we can interview you in the hospital kid, come on, youre still loosing blood, horrible as it is, and ya aint dead, so somethins gotta be done.

Finx lifted her dress up off the ground and desended the stairs slowly. She lived in a spacious mansion but she was the only person in there that didn't need to be kept warm her servants were all in love with vampires if you will and would do anything for her but what she needed was a lacky someone to help her around and do her dirty work and that was what she went to find tonight.

Rosemary was walking home from the chapel near her house when it happened. There was a sound behind her.she turned but no one was there.shivering, she shrugged and started walking again.next thing she knew, she was being held in an iron grip, a quiet but deadly voice behind her whispering in her ear "you are about to get your wish.you are welcome." and then there was pain.incredible pain in her neck, searing through her veins. The grip released, and Rosemary collapsed, blood pooling around her......
Rosemary woke up to bright lights flashing around her.there were police all around, talking in grim tones."this is the second one tonight.same markings and everything.how do we explain this?" A deep male voice asked."excuse me? Officers? What happened?" Rose asked.the officer who had spoken before turned and stared at her, shocked.she slowly sat up and blinked several times.just then, a horrible headache came over her.she closed her eyes and swayed, unable to balance.the officer came over and said something about the hospital.she was picked up and placed gently laying down in the back of a squad car.she slipped in and out of consciousness all the way to the hospital.
Gemini smiled from the shadows.it had bern her first hunt in days, and she wad happy with it.she had overheard the girl praying for a miracle,for her heart to get better, and had decided to help.well, the child would never feel her heartbeat again, but at least she would live.and now she owed Gemini.the thought made her chuckle as the police cars carted the girl away."good luck, child.you'll need it." She said, and faded into the shadows, her laugh still echoing after she was gone.

Ardener lay on the hospital bed, a hand over the bandage on his neck, a 6th bottle of water in his other. a nurse was readying an iv of blood and saline. the doctors had no idea what had happened to him or how he was even alive. he had precious few pints of blood left in him, yet aside from the puncture wounds on his neck, his only other injury was was what they said was " a hairline fracture of the scull that appeared to be at least 1 week to 10 days old." he sighed. as he had repeated to the police, he had received the injury that night, and that it was the last thing he could remember. the doctors had also said that there was no way that two such small cuts could have bled that much without clotting, and they could in no way account for the missing injury after a thorough examination and physical. and yet again, they could not account for his continued life. the nurse took the hand away from his neck and inserted the iv into his arm " dont move it" she told him sternly, then her face softened. "is there anyone i can call for you?" "n-no, if youl bring me the paperwork ill start filling it out." the nurse nodded and left.

Rosemary was wheeled in to the hospital on a stretcher and placed next to another patient who had much the same injuries as her.the police had questioned her over and over, but her story stayed the same.she had been walking home when someone had attacked her.she remembered pain and nothing else.the doctors bustled around her, trying to figure out if anything about her could reveal what had happened to the patient next to her.finally, it was decided that her case was just as much a mystery as the other, and let her be.she was hooked up to an I.v. pole filled with blood to replace what she had lost, and set up for comfort.several bottles of water were put within her reach, but she didn't touch them.she was burning with thirst, but water held no appeal.after she was let be, she noticed something rather alarming."w-what...what's this?! My heart...I can't feel it! Its not beating!" She said, beginning to panic.she turned to the male next to her."hey, you...what's going on here? I keep hearing them say that we were both attacked in the same way.tell me...can you feel your heartbeat? Or am I just finally dead?" She asked, desperate for an answer.

Ardener Looked over at her calmly, saying simply "No, cant feel shit." he kept filling out his papers. "we arent dead.... i think."

Finx pushed her hair from her face were was she going to find a human to bite that would want it. "I'll never find someone to be around me." she sighed softly and kept walking in search of her meal.

Rosemary nearly cried, but kept her cool.she fell back agar.st her pillow and closed her eyes tightly."this isn't what I wanted.the woman who attacked me- I think it was a woman, at least- she said she was granting my wish.I didn't wish to be dead!" She said, fighting back tears."im so thirsty.it hurts, this thirst.it burns."

Rosemary took a gulp of water and made a face.it was the worst taste she had ever known."darn.I used to like water." She said.in fact, with her heart condition, she never drank a.trying else."I'm Rosemary Kazane.you wouldn't know me- im almost never outside.who might you be?" She asked politely, finishing her first water and starting another.

"Ardener Kerns, skate punk extraordinair, and i know of the Kazanes and their sick daughter, you guys have the money to cover this up, yippy....."

Rosemary blushed."you're clearly out of the loop.my family hasn't had that kind of money since I was four.I live with my aunt, who is a complete drunk and will probably never even notice that im gone.my parents are both dead.my mother died in a car accident and my father was shot.there's still plenty of money, but my aunt is in charge of it until I turn 18 and she doesn't even know the money is there.which is good because she'd spend it all on booze anyway." She informed him. She hated when people judged her because of her family or her heart."and as for being sick, its a heart condition.other than that im healthy.im not some weak sickly little girl." She added proudly.she had lived past ten, when the doctors had said she would die.she was strong, she told herself.
