Alright, I didn't want to post this, but I really need coins for pants that actually don't look horrible with the boots. Any feedback is appreciated I suppose. This is a story I've been writing, it's about character's in my RPG and what they did and this is the first chapter:::::::
I walk into the classroom and see the bored faces of the children sitting at their desks. They hardly give me any notice as I take a seat at the front of the room. The teacher stood, and began to speak to her students.
“I'd like you all to show Charlie's father the same respect you show all of our guests. He's a very busy man.”
“If he's so busy,” I watched the student's posture change as he began to sass his teacher, “why does he have nothing better to do then come in here and read us a story?” The teacher was about to discipline her student, but I interrupted her.
“I have nothing better to do today, because I am on a vacation. Please, go back to your relaxed position in your chair.” I watched the boy lay his head back down on his desk. “Miss Eluryh, may I begin now?”
“I suppose, I shall leave it to you then.” She took her seat at the back of the class and began marking the student's work. I turn myself to the class once more to see my son sleeping. That's fine, he's heard all this stories before.
“Tell me children, how many of you have heard the story of the King's Knights?”
“Yes, we all have heard of them, they were heroes who saved the world twice in their lifetime. It's a wonderful fairy tale.” The girl spoke with such insulting sarcasm.
“Call it what you wish, but I'll bet my eye-patch you've never heard the version I'm going to tell you today.” I put my hand into my bag and pulled out the book I brought with me. I needed to be careful not to tear any pages, “This is one of my favourite stories.” I say to them. Some sighed, and one of the dreesca boys began to fiddle with his tail. “I suppose if you wish you can sleep during the story, but you'll miss out. Now then, to set the tone... A long time ago, in a land far away-”
“Let me guess, Eluryh?” A student said.
“Actually yes, just like your teacher's name. Now if you'll let me continue the prologue?
The wind blew across the grass and through the trees, as a dark shape shuffled into a bush. A group a men of all different races, only four at this time period, sat around a fire. The tallest of them all addressed the others in a commanding voice.
“Rest tonight men,” he began, “tomorrow promises to be full of hard work, and sweat, and blood.” The members of the group all laughed. The man, who of course is their boss, was joking. The group was there to go fishing and bring back the catch, for their village to sell and live off of. The next day the fishermen would travel to the lake-
“Hold on, 'would'? You should stay here and learn some grammar mister.”
“Hm, perhaps I should. However if you would listen to the rest of my story, you would understand why I used the past tense. Now, I shall continue the story, please try not to interrupt again.”
The next day the fishermen would travel to the lake, bring their catch back to camp, and repeat the process for the next two days. However at the time, they had to settle down and go to sleep.
While they slept the dark shape in the bushes stirred. It climbed quietly up a tree down the path the fishers would use in the morning. There was a crack like the breaking of bones accompanied by the soft sound of flesh tearing.
The sun rose over the horizon, its glow moving through the trees, making its way to the fisher's tents. They woke, quickly getting their morning work done, packing their equipment and getting ready for the day. Before they had left their home town of Mar'Sal, the mayor had finally agreed to allow the fisher's to set-up a permanent camp in this clearing. This allowed the group to leave the tents behind as they set off to their first day of fishing.
As the cheerful men marched down the path to the lake, they saw something quite baffling. A fishhook hanging down from the trees. Upon the point was a bloody foot, placed like a worm on a hook. The men looked at it bewildered, wondering what it could possibly be doing here. One man, a proud looking orange-feathered Dreefea, walked up to it, and grabbed the foot. The hook shifted lower, and swooped upwards, taking half of the bird-man's body with it, leaving the lower half behind, which fell to the ground.
The group only just now realizing hey were caught in a trap, tried to move onward around the hook. This proved impossible however , as another hook had descended from the trees. They turned trying to go back the way they came, but soon learned they were surrounded.
The screams heard that morning were loud enough to wake the dead, and boil blood. Though he wasn't dead, a man sleeping nearby did wake, and he went to investigate. He walked along the path he came upon where the fishers were fished. He saw the equipment that had been left behind, along with all the blood and remains. He panicked, grabbed a fishing pole, and proceeded to run back to town. He arrived early the next morning, out of breath and hysterical. He ran to the mayor's office. He banged on the door as hard as he could. When the mayor finally opened the door she saw the weeping man. She stepped out in her pajamas, picked the man up, and took him inside.
The man woke upon an elegant bed and saw his mayor sitting in a chair near him. The mayor stood and motioned for him to come towards her.
“Here, tell me your story.”
I paused for a moment, hoping to create suspense. I look up from my book and at the class.
“I don't remember that part of the story.” I hear some of them say. More of the students were paying attention than before.
“Should I continue the story children?” Some of them nodded, one of them said yes. This is good, it seems my storytelling is improving. “Well then, I'll keep going. If you don't mind, the rest of the story is in the present tense for the most part, and goes like this; Spring has just ended, and it's now the second day of the First Summer month.
Chapter One
Meeting of Chance
Country-Eluryh
Town/City-Marsa'l
The Date- Sr1/02/235
Spring has just ended, and it's now the second day of the First Summer month. It's a clear, warm day in the town of Mar'Sal. A nice quiet day despite the towns current problem, and some strange girl setting signs on fire with her matches. The law decided to throw her into prison. A man with orange hair who is also a newcomer to the town walked on by, watching the scalian ”Er, Dreesca” girl struggle against the guards.
The orange-haired man's chest was covered by iron plate-mail, there was a fedora on his head, and he wore leather pants to go with his leather shoes. On his walk through the town he saw a few villagers talking amongst themselves and thought to himself, perchance these kind sirs know of an adventure for me? As he walked towards them he saw another person go by.
Like the girl with matches he was a dreesca, with black and red scales in no particular pattern. He walked with a crossbow in his hand, and a loincloth that blends with the colours of his surroundings between his legs. The dreesca himself must have had a chameleon strain in him, because he too blended with his surroundings at times. A young dreemen girl entered the town next. She wore leather gear with two rusted knives at her side; she headed towards the mayor's office.
Two women and a blue haired man had already been speaking with the mayor before the girl arrived. One woman, wearing a corset, tight leather pants, and knee-high boots, as well as cat ears and tail. The other woman wore a breast-plate and a couter over her cotton button-up shirt. Below her waist she was wearing sandals, fishnet stockings and shorts. Her hands covered by fingerless gloves and her wrist had a diamond wedding bracelet on it. No one noticed the two knives she kept hidden in her clothes.
The blue haired man differed from all the others not only because of his hair, but also because of his trenchcoat. If you looked at it long enough it appeared to bleed. It couldn't be bleeding though, his silk white shirt had no stains on it. He also wore boots with the look of a pirate, as well as a pair of black pants. Another thing setting him apart is his absurdly large sword in an interesting looking sheath slung across his back.
The sheath was blue and gold with a pattern that somehow, seemed familiar to everyone. He also wore a bracelet identical to the woman, without feline accessories.
The orange haired man, after talking with the pair of villagers, decided it would be best for him to visit the mayor. He stopped by the jail to ask for directions, after he had realized he didn't ask the two men when they told him to go see the mayor in the first place. The dreesca girl was sitting in the only cell when he came in, apparently talking to the prison guard.
“So you'll accept community service then?” The guard said to the girl.
“Sure I guess” She sounded a bit confused, like she didn't understand why she was put in jail.
“Right, I'll take you to the mayor then, come with me.” As he was unlocking the cell the orange haired man asked,
“Mind if I come along with you? I am looking for the mayor so I may obtain a quest.”
“Huh? Yeah sure, c'mon.” As the trio walked towards the mayor's, the dreesca man followed them stealthily, and said to himself,
“I'll bet the guard is just a useless cannon fodder character in this chapter.” The guard turned his head and looked for whoever was speaking. Finding no one, he continued to lead the dreemen, the dreesca, and unknowingly the other dreesca to the mayor.
“So you'll help us then?” The mayor was a bit tall for being a dreemen female, she was nearly as tall as the blue-haired man. She wore a very expensive looking top, with a peasant skirt along with her “Mayor” sash.
“You just want us to find out why they're disappearing right? Yeah, I'll help with that.” The blue-haired man spoke with just a little bit of annoyance in his voice. Just a reconnaissance mission, why would his employer send him here?.
“We'll both help with it.” The woman next to him said. “How about you two?” She said to the “cat” girl and the younger girl.
“Sure I'll help, my name is Kat by the way.” After introducing herself with a smile on her face she sat down on the bench. “Who're you three?”
“Should you really be asking my name as well? Even though I haven't agreed to help?” The little girl said. The blue-haired man turned to her, he looked at her as though she had said something strange and then asked,
“Are you going to help?”
“Yes, I was just making a point” The little girl said. Kat looked at the girl and asked again,
“Who're you three?” The blue-haired man looked at her, turned to the woman next to him, shook his head, and then left to the forest on the edge of the town. “Why'd he leave like that?”
“I guess he doesn't want you to know his name.” The woman said. “I'm Takara, that was my husband, sorry about him acting that way. Anyway, what is your name little girl?” Upon being called “little girl” the little girl looked quite upset.
“My name is Larin. And-” She was interrupted when a guard approached the mayor with two people following him.
“ 'ello thar mayor. These two want to help the town too.” He gestured to the dreesca girl and dreemen man.
“Don't forget me.” The red and black dreesca appeared right in front of the guard, startling him. This caused him to fall and yell out just how surprised he was with a few curse words.
“Wh-where did you come from?!”
“I was here the entire time useless guard.” He stepped over the guard, his tail dragging across the man making a few rips in the uniform. The group speaking to the mayor all looked at him. More than likely a few of them decided he was a show-off and they didn't like him already. “So what adventure are you sending us on?” The mayor looked at him puzzled.
“How did you know I was going to ask something like that?”
“The same way I know the guards you're going to send with us are just filler.” Now everyone looked at the red and black dreesca with confusion. The blue-haired man returned, and said to the mayor,
“If that's all I can explain it to these ones and you can go back to your work.”
“Thank you...” The mayor turned to leave, headed to her home, when the black and red dreesca asked;
“Why do you wear expensive and poor clothes at the same time?” The mayor lit up at the question. She explained why with a smile on her face.
“Because, I believe there should be no class system, so I wear both high and low to show they are equal”
“But, you wear the high class on top, wouldn't that send a message saying; the rich are more important than the poor?” The mayor looked a her clothes, and back to the dreesca.
“W-well I suppose, but that's not the message I'm trying to send-”
“Maybe you should go home, and I'll tell them what we're doing, alright Ms. Greshia?” The blue-haired man spoke up, a little irritated. The mayor nodded, and left.
“Alright, the mayor wants... Well us I guess, to go into the forest to their fisher's camp and find out what's been happening to all the people who've been disappearing. Afterwards, we're to come back and tell the mayor what we discovered.” The man had said it all in one breath without pausing once. The rest of the people looked at him. One of them thought what is with that sword? Can he really use that thing? After the thought was conceived the chameleon dreesca said, out loud;
“Yes he can” At this the attention was now on the dreesca and not the blue-haired man. “Hello my name is Wade, why don't we all introduce ourselves?” Everyone took turns introducing themselves. Takara, Kat, and Larin all said their names again, as well as Wade. The orange haired man introduced himself as Dave, and the dreesca girl called herself Damian. Once introductions were finished, the group agreed to enter the forest to find the cause of the disturbances.
The mayor sent a couple soldiers to accompany the group of adventurers, Bob, a tall thin dreefea with pink and purple feathers. Bob's partner Tim, a shorter than average dreeder with dark grey skin, stood at attention until he was called. As the group travelled through the forest, Damian chased after a pair of squirrels.
“What?” Dave said, bewildered as he watched Damian run off into the trees. Takara chased after her, while the rest of the group continued on.
Takara found Damian by a tree, holding a squirrel and three lit matches. Takara grabbed the matches away and pulled on Damian's ear,
“Ow ow ow, why are you doing that?”
“Why are you setting squirrels on fire?”
“Because it's bright and squeaky” The smile on her face as she spoke said she really only wanted the squeak. Takara thought this girl was disgusting, she was willing to harm an innocent creature, for something so stupid.
“You're coming back to the group n-” She saw a fishhook with a bleeding foot attached to it. “What is that?” As she pointed Damian's eyes followed all the way to the crescent piece of metal. Her eyes went back to the squirrel, and she smiled.
Wade led the way through the forest towards the fisher's camp.
“I wonder why he's going so slowly hm?”
“Huh? Who's going slow?” Dave was curious who Wade was talking about, no one here was going slowly at all.
“No one here. You don't need worry about it, idiot with a sword.” Dave looked quite offended by this and was about to draw his sword, however the blue-haired man spoke up.
“Wade, after we're done here, I don't think you should accompany us anymore.”
“I understand, there really is no place for me yet is there? Very well, after you all defeat your enemy here I'll go.”
“What?” Larin continued to speak, “What enemy? We're only here to investigate, aren't we?”
“That is why we're here, but you never know what could happen.”
“The names are right,” one student started, “but that's not all of them, and I don't remember this in any of the other stories.” I smile looking up from my book.
“That's because they aren't the heroes yet. This is what they did before all the darkness came to the land.” The children seem more interested in the story then ever now. “On to chapter two?” I tease them.
“Yes please sir.” A young dreeant said. She reminds me of one of my old friends from long ago.
