thread.

So, I was thinking we can post our profiles and get started any time now. ^^

Full Name: Colby Alexander Charming.
Nicknames: That's Mr. Charming to you, but my colleagues call me Alex.
Age: Twenty Five
Sex: Male
Biography: Always a charismatic and engaging individual, Alex knew he was born to teach. From the helpful friend who would help you study for exams, to now - his first year teaching out of teachers college. Easy to say, his scholarly life has been a success... His love-life... Not so much. Being as charming and smart as he was, he tended to attract the sort of girl who just couldn't stick with it. From relationship to relationship, his high-school love affairs had him branded as a man-whore of sorts. What a charming title, am I right? Luckily love found him Laura Snow - and unluckily she has seven brothers. Why is this a problem? Well, on the night of their 3rd anniversary, when he was getting ready to propose, Laura was a no-show. And her seven brothers wont let him get near enough to her to ask why. So - at the beginning of this new school year, he has to handle the onslaught of fan-girls, as well as his new evil boss - alone. Looking forward to it!

Full Name: Eva Louise Cinders
Nicknames: Cinders
Age: 17
Sex: Female
Biography: She is the youngest of three children; herself and her elder twin sisters, Melody and Harmony. She is a soft spoken person and always tries to look on the positive side of life, even though there are very few positive things in her life. Her father's a rich man. A shrewd business man that is often jetsetting to exotic locations around the globe. He often leaves his daughters in the care of his newest trophy-wife, Carissa. Carissa has no patience for "children" so used a portion of her newly acquired wealth to send her three step-brats to an exclusive boarding school in the countryside. Eva realised that one of her friends was also going to this school, so that made things a little more bearable for her. However, with her sisters increasing control and dominance over her as well as their increasing popularity, she was not looking forward to this year at all. Even though she is a kind-hearted soul and a promising scholar, she just knew that this would not be the "wondrous opportunity" that Carissa had sold the school to both the girls and their father.

Glancing at his alarm clock from his comfortable position in the bed, he groaned. It was only 6:45. He had no need to be up; school didn’t officially start until tomorrow. He had his entire lesson plan ready to go already, his supplies already neatly packed in his shoulder bag...He had even taken his new uniforms – ‘Why do the teachers needs uniforms?’ – To get pressed and dry-cleaned. ‘So why do I feel like I have something to do today?’ Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he resigned himself to the fact that he wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep at his point. With a stretch and a yawn, he made his way over to the bathroom to begin his morning routine.

Shower. Towel. Toothbrush. Spit. Rinse. All as usual, well, for the most part.

The unused sink beside him made it obviously aware that someone was missing. With a slight pout on his lips, he sighed and placed his tooth brush back in its place before going to get dressed.

--

Ah coffee. Glorious coffee. Every teachers vice. As he waited for it to brew, he went to go check his mailbox. “Paper, bills, Oh honey!” He yelled back into the house, chuckling “We won a million-“ He stopped short and swore at himself before continuing to sift through the stack of mail. It was a package from the school that caught his eye. Dated two days ago, the letter mentioned to not forget about check-in day. It was accompanied with a key.

‘Check in day!’

He then began running and tripping around the house with as much grace as an elephant as he gathered his things. Check in day? How could he forget? It was a boarding school after all, teachers boarded as well! Taking only a brief moment to stop and slow down to check his appearance, he sighed. He needed yet wear the teachers uniform – uniforms need only be worn on school days – but without it he could probably be mistaken for one of the students.

His dirty blonde hair was slightly long, showing off that it did in fact have some wave to it. His face looked young and boyish, in a handsome sort of way. ‘It’s the face the girls fall for, your kinda nerdy otherwise dear.’ Is what his mother used to tell him.
Today he adorned a white dress shirt with a black vest and matching tie, casual, but not overly so. He wouldn’t have minded a pair of jeans and a tee-shirt. But he recalled the headmistress being... well... quite ‘strict’ if he was being nice.

The coffee left forgotten, he left the house with his uniforms, some essentials, and all his work-materials.

--

“Glad you could join us Mr. Charming.” Was the greeting he got upon entering the gym, which was set up now to sign students in, as well as let them do a meet-and-greet with their teachers. Luckily only a few students were here now.

“Glad to join you Ms. Wick.” He said, flashing her a smile. She looked rather unimpressed.

“Hope you found your quarters all right, your station is over there beside Mr. Stillskin.” With that, the women walked away and Alex shuddered. ’She reminds me of...My grandmother...

“So! Are you ready to fill young minds Mr. Charming?” Rodney asked as he approached. The man came off as slightly weird, but he did seem friendly enough at the staff meeting last week.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.”
And with that, he took his seat and mentally prepared himself for the onslaught of students he knew would be arriving any moment.

Ella was sitting at the kitchen table, slowly pushing porridge from one side of her bowl to the other. She knew that she ought to attempt to eat something, it was going to be a busy day. Check-in day at the school always was according to Phil. He was used to it though, so he knew the procedure. He'd been going there for years. His dad struck oil so he could afford to send Phil away. He was still welcome at home though, unlike Ella. He promised to keep an eye on her though. To help her get settled in and find her way around. For that, she was grateful. She was glad that they were going to school together. He was her only 'real' friend, someone that she always missed when he was away during term times. It was a lonely life for Ella, always the last choice. She didn't expect any different when she went to school.

"Come on, dork," Melody said as she breezed into the kitchen. "We're going to be late! The train leaves at eleven." She grabbed an apple and paused for a moment. Taking the time to give Ella a cold stare. "You better not be weird at school...I know you and what you're like. Ruin this for me and Harmony and you'll wish you were never born!"

"I already do..." Ella muttered as Melody left the room.

Ella put her bowl on the counter for Carissa to deal with later and took one last look around the kitchen. Sure, she had the option to come back for Christmas, but she doubted she'd take it. She wouldn't see this house for a whole year. In a way she was glad, in another, she wished she could stay.

She went up to her room and grabbed her suitcases. She had two, a rucksack and her school satchel. This was nothing compared to the staggering twelve cases the twins had, as well as three hold-alls and four backpacks. Ella wondered how they could amass so much, then she remembered, Carissa doted on them. Walking down to the car with her luggage, she stowed it away and then climbed in the back behind the drivers seat. Her father was taking them, he wanted it to be family only, so dismissed the usual driver, Hans. Sadly "family only" also included Carissa. She was already in the front seat, admiring herself in the mirror.

"You better behave, brat. I don't want you getting expelled and sent back to me. Do you hear? Because I won't have it. I won't take you back," she said, eyeing Ella up in her mirror.

"As if I'd do a thing like that, I'm glad of the break from you," Ella replied sarcastically.

Before an argument could start, the twins and their father got into the car. He smiled and started up the engine. Mindless chatter between everyone broke out. Well, everyone but Ella. As the car drove along the interstate to the station, she remained silent. She rested her head on the window and brought her knees up under her chin. She was imagining what the school would be like. What was in store for her. It was rather exciting. A chance to be who she always wanted to away from the tyranny of Carissa.

The car pulled into the station car park. She hugged her father goodbye and reluctantly hugged Carissa. She made up a story about going to meet Phil, so she grabbed her cases and bags and left the others to it. True, she would be meeting up with Phil outside the school after the three hour train ride, but she just wanted some space.

She set herself up in a carriage and settled down, listening to music. She brought her sketchbook with her and began to draw. Slowly the train began to fill and on a whistle, pulled away. She was drawing a castle, ignoring the people pressed against the window, crying and waving to loved ones. This castle was enchanted. Ivy and other plants growing all around, a mystical forest surrounding it. There was a princess trapped inside, locked up by a foul witch. In her head she pretended that she was the princess and that Carissa was her captor, which in a way was true. However, she had escaped. She had done what she always wanted, what ever trapped soul wants. She got out.

Phil came in to her carriage with a huge smile on his face.

"Cinders! There you are! I've been looking for you everywhere! We're almost there. Excited?"

"I've been better..."

"Well cheer up! Here, did you get your form to check in with?"

"Form? What form?" Ella asked, starting to panic.

"Didn't think you would have. Anyway, basically it just tells you where to check in. You're a new comer, so you'll be checking in with some new guy. Dunno what he looks like. His name begins with a C though. It was on the noticeboard last term. I'll point out who he is when we get there, he's the one no-one knows."

The train pulled into the station. Right next to the station was a large old building which was obviously the school. As this was a private train, it was clearly prestigious. Ella grabbed her cases and Phil disappeared off to get his. She waited patiently as others milled on and off, and she hopped off after them. She saw Phil's flaming red hair and walked up to him.

Together, they started into the school. This was the start of her new life.

So, his job was to check in the new students... Assign them their dorm numbers, give them their schedules, and try to answer and question they might have about the new school. It was simple enough, though – some students just couldn’t seem to grasp it.

“So... I will be in your second period English class?” A girl asked, smiling innocently up at him while her brother stood off to the side, visibly annoyed with having to wait.

“Yes Miss Gretel, that’s what is says on your schedule.” He offered, pointing to the second time square. “Any more question?” He asked. And, the girl – who couldn’t seem to think of anything else to say, shook her head and resigned herself to having to find her dorm. Her brother, overjoyed that she was done grabbed her arm and started pulling her towards the dorms...Or what he thought must have been their dorms. “Oh! You’re going the wrong.... way.” Alex tried to warn them, but they were already out of sight.

Done with those students, there didn’t seem to be any left for registration – at least for the moment anyway. Giving a sigh of relief, he walked back around the desk and sat down. Glad for the break...Hopefully his first class would be less hectic.

“Well, aren’t you quite popular.” Rodney said, smirking at the blonde teacher.

Looking over towards his co-worker, Alex shrugged his shoulders in a modest way. “I’ll take that as a good thing... Students tend to do better if they like their teacher, so I’ve heard.” He said sheepishly, scratching the back of his head as he leaned back in his chair.

“Hopefully it doesn’t get them...distracted.” He said in a suggestive tone, before turned to help some students.

His mouth fell open slightly at the innuendo. The last thing he needed was his co-workings thinking like that. He didn’t need his old reputation haunting him. Especially when the girls in question would now be students! He didn’t want to get fired. Giving a nervous laugh to brush it off, he turned towards the next student to approach and found his laugh caught in his throat. “Oh...um.. Yes, can I help you?” He asked, leaning back causing the chair to hit the ground with a small bang. He smiled, hoping to look casual as he started reaching to put together the handouts the girl would need.

Eva walked into the main hall, Phil turned left and went off to a different desk, while she went to the one he pointed out for her. She smiled warmly at the man, waving her hand a little.

"Hi," she said a little nervously. "I'm Eva Cinders. This is my first time here, so I was told to check in with you. My friend's been here before, so he told me. Is this right?"

She shut up suddenly, aware that she was babbling. She always did that when she was nervous. It was a habit that she really wanted to get out of, she just didn't know how. Her father called it her curse. He often said that some witch must have cast a spell on her when she was a baby so that she would talk the hind legs off a donkey whenever she felt nervous. He always said that it was a good weapon. Something that she found pretty funny too. Her sisters, on the other hand, did not. They were just annoyed because they didn't have a special joke with their father, they just had a lot of private jokes between the two of them. A lot of them which considered Eva to be the butt.

She placed her cases on the floor and slipped her bag off her shoulders, tossing her hair over as she did. She looked up and smiled at the man.

"Sorry," she said for what she knew would be the first in a long and embarrassing case of babbleitus. "I tend to talk a lot when I'm nervous. Usually things that aren't important and don't make sense. It's a horrible habit of mine."

Alex stood, nodding to the girl as he handed her a package of papers, the usual sort, the kinds with rules and regulations, dos and don’ts. The kind that usually ended up in a recycling bin somewhere, unread. At least he hoped it would be a recycling bin, and not a garbage can. The sad part was that he was sure the headmistress was going to make all the teachers cover these rules on the first day of class. What fun material. ’I’d rather hop right into Othello, or Wicked.’ He thought, looking up as the girl ended her chattering.

“Your friend was right Ms. Cinders. I’m Mr. Charming, welcome to the school.” He offered her a warm smile, as he began to look through the packages with the dorm keys in it. “Eva...Eva...” Finding it, he said a quick ‘Ahha!’ Just as she tossed her hair back. He could smell the lingering scent of her shampoo – it was familiar... Luckily her blonde hair was in sharp contrast to the black of Laura’s hair. ’Why are you even comparing them?’ And he retorted with ’Because it’s refreshing.’

“I don’t mind at all... I find some of my best thoughts come from me babbling.” He was still holding the package, and looking down at it, he grinned. “And...Perhaps your habit will be of some use to you. You’re in my second period English class.” He said pointing to the time-table on the package as he handed Eva her dorm key.

Mr. Stillskin, who had wandered over from his desk peered down at the time table from over her shoulders. “And it seems you have first period with me. I’ll make sure your mind is nice and sharp for Mr. Charming here.” He said, grinning, before a few students approached his table. He slinked off, leaving Mr. Charming wide-eyed. He shook it off though – it wouldn’t be good to let the students see his reaction towards Rodney. But there was just something...odd about him.

||So, did we decide on a way for them to sort of... start their taboo relationship? x3 Brains, start your stormin'!||

((Hm...I don't think we did decide on anything. Perhaps she could appear more advanced than the other members of his class, or show a passion that the others didn't, so he offered her to stay behind. Maybe give her some extra books or hints on how to take the subject further, and it builds from there?))

"Thanks," she said warmly as she took the papers from him. They were brightly coloured on glossy paper, though they seemed to be common sense. Don't run in the halls, things of that nature. She leafed through them briefly anyway, out of politeness more than anything else. She probably would read them over in her dorm, just as something to do. Also, she really didn't want to get in trouble here. Though, Phil would probably show her the ropes. He'd be a lousy friend not to.

She laughed as he replied. "I'm glad that you don't mind babbling. A lot of people seem to have a problem with it, but I think it's quite a good ice breaker. You get used to the people speaking quicker. I've not really met too many other people that babble though. Maybe that's a good thing though, I think two babblers in one conversation is a recipe for disaster, nothing would get done."

She took her dorm key and timetable, glancing over it. It seemed well spaced out and the classes, at least on appearance seemed to her liking. English and History were the ones that stood out most though. They were always her favourite areas. Reading about past wars and battles, although gruesome and something most girls shy away from, was her guilty pleasure. World War II was a particular interest of her. The Nazi conditioning, although horrible, was very interesting from a psychological perspective too.

She realised that she was daydreaming and quickly snapped out of it. She looked up when another teacher came over. She smiled as he spoke, nodding slightly, though not getting a chance to say much before he left.

"That's good then, a familiar face is definitely going to be welcome when classes start. What is it that...um...he teaches?" Eva said, scanning her timetable trying to find this man's name and class. She couldn't for the life of her remember which say that Mr. Charming had pointed to.

"Mr. Stillskin teaches Science period one." He said, pointing to the timetable again. Her words reminded him that the students he was dealing with were new to the school as well. He remembered going into high school. He had his elementry school friends with him - but meeting the new teachers had always been a bit nerve wracking. Especially if the teachers were anything like Rodney or the headmistress. Luckily grade nine was the year he really came out of his shell. He became more charismatic, and school went by easily for him. Though - he had a feeling that starting out alone could be a scary thing.

Having an 'ahah!' moment, he turned back to the desk and pulled out another paper. Reading it over quickly he smiled. "You know - if you're interested - I'm starting a book club after classes Tuesday and Thursdays... It would be a great way for you to meet new people at the school, and you do get extra English credits for attending." He said, grinning and chuckling a bit as he handed her the sheet. "The first month is Shakespeare marathon month. Than the club can decide what to read next." He said, feeling a but of pride in himself. He told himself he was going to get involved in the school - and the headmistress seemed pleased when he brought forth the idea. Now he just had to get students interested in it.

As more students started filing into the gym and heading towards his desk, he smiled at the girl. "Nice to meet you Miss Cinders... Hope to see you there. Now, if you'll excuse me." He said, nodding towards the other new students as he went to go sign them in.

Eva nodded as she glanced back down at her timetable. She sighed slightly. Mr. Stiltskin didn't seem a teacher to cross, and science was one of her worst subjects. She just knew that this class would be a year long struggle for her. The only science she was good at was biology, and even then it was only the human body. Plants, physics and chemistry all either bored her or went way over her head.

She looked up at Mr. Charming and happily took the leaflet from him. English was her real forte, she had a love of all things literary. A book club, although something she knew her sisters would tease her about, was something that greatly interested her. She smiled warmly.

"Thank you for the offer, I'll definitely check it out. I've actually read a couple of Shakespeare plays before. Romeo and Juliette and A Midsummer Nights Dream, simply because they're the only two I could get a hold of. I'd love to read Julius Caesar though," Eva said happily. "And of course. I'm sorry for holding you up. Thank you for your help."

She folded up all her papers and stuck them in the back pocket of her jeans. She slid her dorm key into the front left pocket and gathered up her bags. She nodded her head to Mr. Charming before heading over to the side of the hall to meet Phil, who she noticed was waiting for her.
