Wow, I just realized it's February already and although I've started a number of the books on my list, I haven't finished any of them yet! I'm still plodding along through Ivanhoe, but I've been getting distracted from my other reads by lab reports and a lab puppy. ^__^ But I've decided to set aside Sundays as a reading day, though, and I must read at least 50 pages every Sunday! It can be out of multiple books, too (I like to jump around from book to book a lot for some reason.. Maybe it's a result of being the kid who brought home ten books from the library each week and read them all simultaneously!) My problem is I always start way too many books at once, and then never finish any of them. People ask "Have you read such-and-such?" and I say "Yes.. wait.. no, I just read half of it." :P

Knerd - You really do! And I don't think you'll be too disappointed. I watched the series first and that's what drew my attention to the books, and after reading the first I have to say that they did a really good job with making the series super close to the book.

I don't know how you do that, Lost. Maybe you should try only reading one book at a time until you've finished it?

Haha, im like that im awful for it.
I get half way through one and start another and another then i have to decide which one to read. Quite often the decision is "ill decide later" So rather than reading 3 quicker than i expect, i read them looooads slower D=
I'm still trying to finish reading Magician by Raymond E Feist, but i keep procrastinating wanting to read the next Temeraire book D=

I haven't read any of those, so I'm afraid I can't be of much help. Though all this talk of Game of Thrones has gotten me interested. Maybe you should read that, you'll certainly have plenty of people here to talk about it with!
I just finished the last Harry Potter book. I'm going to miss this series... I got one of the books I won on Goodreads recently, so I'm going to read that next so I can get a review up for it ASAP, since that's why they give them out in the first place. But... it doesn't sound as good as Harry Potter. What am I going to do, I'm ruined.

I was at goodwill today and found Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! :eager: I heard a couple talking about it and I got really excited and was hoping they weren't going to buy it, and sure enough they didn't, so I snatched it up. It was only seventy cents! It's in pretty good condition too.

I always hear people talk about those books but I honestly have no desire to read them.
I'm sure that they're fun and really entertaining, but I like Jane Austen for what she is. Reading her stories with zombies or sea monsters of ninja aristocratic ladies might just ruin them for me.

Yeah, I'm not sure that I'd be able to read more than one before the novelty of it would wear it off. But hey, 70 cents, it's worth a try! Just for a bit of fun.
I hadn't heard of Android Karenina. The only two I'd heard of were P&P&Z and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.

I never heard of that one either!
I put Anna Karenina on my kindle in the hopes that I'll someday soon have the courage to start reading it. I want to like the Russians so much, but they take so much energy.

Oh wow, my school is offering a Lord of the Rings class next quarter! I can't wait until registration opens, that will be the first class I sign up for.
They're also offering a Faulkner class, but I think I'm going to have to pass on that one, as much as it kills me. It's at a really inconvenient time of day, and I've heard the professor isn't too great. Maybe if it's offered during another year, I'll take it.
In other sort-of book related news, my roommate and I printed out all of these, and we're going to tape them (and some construction paper pink and red hearts) all over the outside of our door. Who needs a special someone when you have LotR valentines to decorate with?

Taiyo- Next quarter, at least! And I actually got in, so I'm super pumped. Last quarter there was a philosophy at Hogwarts class that I had to miss out on because it was full before registration was even open to freshmen.
As much as I love some of the classes I'm in now, I am pretty excited for next quarter and this class.
Hey, no such thing as rereading Harry Potter too many times. ;)

Are you going through withdrawal already?
I guess the one good thing to look forward to is Pottermore and MyHogwarts opening up sometime this year. Both of them have the potential to be big and add a lot more to the HP universe, so you'll be able to be involved with the books somehow.

@ Cherry: There's still Harry Potter nut out there, you know.
@ Knerd:  I deal with the Harry Potter withdrawl by re-reading the books....which I've done gods know how many times.

MyHogwarts? Will HAVE to check that out. I have heard of Pottermore though,
A friend of mine and I are sort of writing our own..."version" of the Harry Potter books...making a little fanverse, where Hogwarts has an NJROTC unit...Oh the hilarity

I don't think that the beta testing period for it has even started yet. I've only heard rumbles about myHogwarts and managed to get signed up for it the day before the website stopped taking email addresses, but nothing for it has actually begun yet. I'll have to let you guys know when the ball gets rolling.
