No, not quite light reading.
But looking past all the dull scholarly articles out there, 1776 is really one of the best historical books available. It's something that you'll be happy you read, even if it took some time to get to the back cover.

Yeah, I could use some good edumacational reading! I'm pretty lousy when it comes to history, having no formal education and that.
Which reminds me, I need to get to watching some of those cool looking documentaries in my Netflix queue...

I'm trying to make myself get through a few other books before I read A Dance with Dragons, but it feels like it will be forever until I get to read it! :gonk: I just haven't got the time to read more than a little bit for pleasure. Right now I'm working on Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. I like it so far, I enjoy the style of narration, and the pacing and characters are very well done.
I'm also rereading Lord of the Rings, but that is for class, which is so very marvelous. It does not feel like homework at all!

Knerd -
I'm down for some gushing when you're finished!
The last third or so of that book just flew by for me after I had to push so hard to get through the first bit!
Iltu -
I am still so incredibly jealous that you get to do Tolkien for a class. So jealous. haha

I don't know how much you're into sci-fi or fantasy, but if you want a good read, check out The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series by Michael Scott. They're an easy read, but really good too!

The 13th Horseman by Barry Hutchison. It's about a 14 year old boy being asked to join the horsemen of the apocalypse. The book is aimed at young adults/teens but people have being comparing the kind of humour to Pratchett and Monty Python so I'm looking forward to reading it.

I read chapters as they are released and I read something like a few hundred pages a week if I have the time and if there are new releases.

Hm....usually if I read chapters as they're released I count them up until I get to what I think would be a full novel. Or, better yet, you could just count the pages and when you get to a certain number, list it as a book. I've seen people on here who record their challenges by the number of pages they've read.

Eh, everyone's list in this thread is just their own personal list. We're not holding you up to any specific standard. If it makes you feel good to count manga chapters as books, then you might as well do it. If you'd rather hold out for something more challenging, then don't. Either way, this is just meant to be an incentive to get you to read more and keep track of your habits - Do whatever makes you happy. :)
I actually count pages along with counting books, so little problems like this balance out. It helps me get a grasp of whether I've been doing short easy reads or longer more engaging reads.
