WELCOME, MENEWSHANS!!
So, I was wondering, who's your favorite superhero, supervillian, and/or anti hero? Let me know and tell me why! Your reason can be as long or short as you like, and you can dress up your post if you want to.just don't make it too super bright please! Debate about your faves here, but be nice, and above all, have fun!
For me, my favorites are:
Hero: Batman!
Why? : because batman is proof that you don't need super powers to be a super hero.you don't need a dramatic weakness or a damsel in distress.you just need morals, values, and some kick-ass skills.Batman is not only a martial arts master, but a technical wiz, with all his awesome gadgets and vehicles.and added to all that, he's a very successful businessman! Not to mention, batman is the one superhero that dares to be different, preferring the dark over the day.he's not afraid to venture into the night, where evil is at it's most active.batman is calm, cool and collected at all times, and even when faced with the most dire circumstances, he always figures a way out of it.batman has a rule of never killing, or seriously hurting anyone.batman proves that darkness does nkt always equate to evil, just as light does not always equate to good.all in all, batman kicks booty, big time!
Villain: the joker
Why? : The perfect counterpart to the dark knight, the joker is the embodiment of basic human fear.first off, clowns are scary as hell.anyone that has to paint a smile on their face has something to hide.following that statement, the joker, much like batman, defies many of the basic rules/stereotypes of supervillains.where most villains are serious and angry all the time, the joker laughs, and genuinely seems to enjoy what he does.where most have some reason for being evil, some kind of backstory, the joker is a complete mystery, and freely admits having no good reason for doing evil things.he simply does because he feels like it.he is, in a word, insane.and if you think about it, what could be scarier than a bad guy that laughs while he blows stuff up? He is the perfect counterbalance to the always straight faced batman, and always keeps the hero on his toes, constantly turning the tables.the other villains that batman faces are formidable, but the dark knight just wouldn't be complete without the joker.and to top it off, this lunatic manages to get a girlfriend! How does that happen? It's because he's the best of the worst, the greatest supervillain.
Anti-Hero: Cat Woman.
Why? : cat woman is, in my humble opinion, the best anti hero there is because she completes the set.it was a mans world at first, all around, until, mercifully, female superheroes came along.with them, of course, there came female supervillains.but they were always outnumbered.when anti heroes were introduced, it seemed like a men only kind of thing, but wait! Cat Woman enters the picture and completes the female super set.anti heroes are great for alot of reasons, the biggest being that they show that there is no black and white, only shades of gray, and that the line between good and evil is a fine one indeed.many times one must do evil to attain a greater good, and anti heroes are able to decide: which is the greater evil? Cat woman is the embodiment of what it means to be an anti hero, always carefully treading that fine line and having to make decisions that are too difficult for most.she's graceful, intelligent, collected, calculating, and beautiful, and as if all that were not enough, she's also a kick ass fighter! Cat woman proves once and for all that a woman can excel in any area a man can, be it good, evil, or somewhere in the middle.and did I
mention she kicks ass?

Thor, mostly because he is just an all around good guy in the Norse myths, and in the comics they kept him as being "kinda the big and not dumb but a bit slow", helpful guy in comics.
You get the feeling (in the Norse) that if you were standing outside trying to take down a tree that was in your roof, Thor would just take off his coat and start lending brute strength. Simply because it was something that needed to be done, and he could help. Sure hes never going to win a chess match with any one, but hes also unlikly to even try. He knows what hes good at, and sticks mainly to that.
At least as far as I know. I don't read a lot of comics so there are, I am sure, huge storylines that differ from what I am saying, but for the most part, that's how I see him, and when I read about him, these are the stories I read.
I even forgive marvel for making him blonde.

Sorrry!!! I fell asleep last night. haha
let's see. I'm gonna have to agree with you on anti-hero. I love catwoman, and halle berry makes her so much more awesome.
But as for picking actual super heroes I'm having a hard time saying who my favorite is. I will say that I don't like spiderman or superman though. Spiderman is so whiny, and come on... the girl likes him. Tell her the truth. stop lying. i'm pretty sure she can handle it if she likes you back. And if not she's not some horrible person to go blabbing it around to get you killed.
And superman just gets obnoxious...

Lex Luthor will always be one of my top villains. He had no powers and used his intelligence to get what he wanted.

I've never really considered Thor, but I like the argument for him.
Superman annoys me simply because of Lois Laine.who's that stupid, to not see the similarities between superman and clark kent? She's supposed to be a reporter! And its not like he wears a mask.le duh, Lois!
Lex luthor is certainly a good choice for villains.

I love the episode of Lois and Clark the new adventures of Superman where one of the "villains", Tempest tells Lois Clark is Superman and how she's known as being dumb in the futures where he comes from because she couldn't figure out he was Superman when all he did was put a pair of glasses on.
Glad I'm not the only one that can't stand Superman. His character just irritates me.

thank you everyone! Everyone always is astonished when i say i can't stand the guy!
And yeah... seriously. He just changes clothes and puts on glasses. How hard can it be to not put two and two together.
I can change outfits and put my contacts on AND dye my hair. And act differently and talk with an accent. and people STILL know that its me!

I had someone think I had a fake ID before because in my ID I had long black hair and now my hair is really short and red. He told me I couldn't go into the casino when it was a legit ID. I just thought it was funny because aside from the hair my ID looks like me.

For me, I'll probably be carded the rest of my life.I'm 21 and my looks, hight, weight, etc haven't changed since I was twelve.but I agree on the outfit change thing- I can change everything and people know its me.except for two years ago on halloween when I used black and red temporary hair dye and put on a black tank top and tattered jeans, then put a band-aid over a spot on my arm and went as a drug addict.it was a frigging good costume and no one recognized me.too bad it was freezing out.but the shivering added to the addict effect.I wish I had a picture, but nobody took one.

i had to ^^;;;
Which of course would mean
Favorite Villan: team rocket - james and jessie
Because they're just amusing, and their schemes are always interesting even though foolhardy.
But realisticly on DC and Marvel heros... I'm still not sure. I honestly like the teen titans.

I suppose that if I had to pick a favourite, it would be Poison Ivy. Although she might be on the radical side of the spectrum when it comes to conservation, I still think she was one of the most powerful female super villains. No one could stand in her way, and she will achieve her goals--not just attacking a single person--ruthlessly and without hesitation. Even through all that, she never actually killed Batman, so there must be something in there that likes the chase, right?

My favorite anti-hero is DeadPool, because he breaks all the rules. He contantly breaks the fourth wall and talks directly to the reader because he is fully aware that he is in a comic book. He's like a weird combination of Spider-Man and Wolverine.

Oh, poison Ivy is a good one. I especially love the Batman & Robin movie with her, Mister Freeze and a sexy Robin :D
Least I thought so...
I love how Poison Ivy can actually trick people to her advantage instead of having to kill them. Besides which, her powers are fun.

Poison ivy is pretty wicked.I always did like her.as for starfire, I can assure you she never turns out evil.actually, raven is the one who...well, it's difficult to explain, but in a way she was directly responsible for her father- an intergalactic planet destroying demon- being unleashed on the earth.but she made up for it by defeating him...that arc in the anime was so awesome.
I'm so happy that this thread is picking up! :)

I really am thinking i saw Starfire disaplyed on a "villans" poster somewhere. Everyone was villans on it but her. It confused me very much. :O
But Raven IS evil. Even though she is awesome and on the good guys side. :D

I've got a thing for antiheroes, myself. Can anybody say Ghost Rider? He's my man. I love the flaming skull and his constant battle between his inner demons. Not to mention he's a bit insane, and it's entertaining. I guess my typical girly taste for bad boys plays out when I think of him.
I also agree--I hate Spiderman, and I think Superman is freakishly boring. I also deplore superhero "groups" like The Fantastic Four, The Justice League....
I love Iron Man, as well.
I don't really have a favorite villain. Well, I do, but he's not from a superhero movie or franchise.

I'll have to look into the starfire thing.it's worth checking out.I remember that her sister, blackfire, was wanted for intergalactic crimes and tried to frame her for it.....I am definitely going to look into that.
I've heard of ghost rider, but I've never really seen him in action.I have that bad boy attraction, too, which is probably why I like batman; he caters to the darkness in me ;) I don't think spiderman is boring, though he's far from my favorite.at least the villains against him are interesting.:)

I guess perhaps Spiderman is too much of an involved story line for me to care for it. I don't love super hero films because they make me think, I love them because of the action and the strong characters.
