HELL YES!You should definitely read it and watch both series! But I recommend the second series first, FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. This is one of my favorite animes!

I feel the same way. :( they are probably never going to be alike. That's sad. I probably shouldn't be talking about this since I have a BF and it would be insulting to him. You know, one time I was talking to my mom telling her about what I have planned in February. This is how it went...
mom and me: (were talking about my plans in February. in the middle of conversation dad calls mom)
mom: *talking on the phone with my dad about their anniversary. mom hangs up.*
me: you know, the most romantic thing I got from my bf was a cookie.
mom: well, you guys are teenagers. what do you expect?
me: a hug, where he doesn't want to let me go, would be nice.
mom: what?
me: I said, a hug would be nice.
mom: *smiles* okay, go to bed.

I think my mom is planning something and she scares me sometimes.

:) I would give you a hug even if I'm not you boyfriend, but I'm in Illinois right now. Sorry. :(

I just started Blue Exorcist and D. Gray man. Also reading Chibi Vampire, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge, Kimi Ni Todoke, Zombie Loan, Otomen and Hoshi Wa Utau. For Yamato and Kimi I'm waiting for next chapter. The others I'm just switching depending on what I feel like reading like funny(chibi vampire), Drama(Hoshi wa Utau), or horror(Blue Exorcist, D. Gray man and Zombie Loan)

And now I can Add One Piece, Shakugan no Shana and Highschool of the Dead to my long list.

The last manga I've read was Lives by Taguchi Masayuki, same artist of Battle Royale. It's a very good concept, a real pity that it ended so abruptly! What's readable feels more like a prologue to an even better manga. It's only ten chapters long, so it's worth spending thirty minutes on.
My current favourite manga is by another legendary manga-ka, Mori Kaoru (maker of Emma), called Otoyomegatari. It blends romance and culture amidst AMAZINGLY DETAILED art. The first page alone contains detail porn on her outfit-- definitely a great series.
As for more popular mangas, I like to follow what's going on in The World God Only Knows as well as the Higurashi and Umeniko no Nako Koro ni series.

It is interesting. It's monstly normal. Until you reach episode 6. Then it becomes the kind of anime I normally watch. All I can say about the later episodes is this.
