Honestly... I don't actually think it would help me lol... even if I don't have Aspergers... I can't for the life of me figure out society's social system.
I nod, wave, bow, and other forms of body language, but sadly... 90% of the time I don't know WHY I do them... I just see other people doing it and figure it makes people happy so why not? XD
Some days I'll think to myself "I have NO idea what that actually means"

Yeah, I get what you mean. I also get the second part of your quote too, although it varies from culture to region so hm... That's the hard part, I would so mess up in certain parts of the world. lol but not lol. Dx!
At least they know I mean well. Eye contact is overrated but I have to blend in some how.
I wonder if anyone ever had to try to 'pass', I don't mean passing in the racial sense either.

Ooh eye contact... I've gotten pretty sneaky with that one... I look at their mouth like a deaf person would and try to lip read even though I don't need to.
Pass? What do you mean?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passing_(sociology) <<< That article will explain it better than I can. :) I it is easier to explain the racial kind of passing. :S I can explain the other one, it isn't hard to explain but it is confusing to some that don't understand.

Haha that happened on gaia for me... not on here at all...
It's amazing how hard it is to give "signals" for them to stop flirting... like... CONSTANTLY turning them down... I was so close to just blurting out "I'm a fking DUDE GTFO!" =.=
Males of this species are damn dense sometimes...

Well I was bored so I decided to take the Aspie test and I scored 173 of 200, it said you are most likely an Aspie ._. lol.

Wow, well I suppose mine could be a bit biased because of my anxiety disorders. I guess that score would explain a lot though, how I come across now and even when I was younger and I look back on it, I was a strange kid. I ended up with mostly no friends for most of my life, but I was never anxious as a child so I wonder if that's how it got started.
How are you doing today Poet?

Doing alright.
I actually find that the test tells me a lot, even if it can't be a guarantee it shows what is "normal" XD
I remember when I was doing it the first time and I was like "Oh crap that's not normal?"

Yeah, I was actually amazed that I scored so high near the end of the test, most of the questions seemed like normal things to me to.. I guess not.. but sort of? Well it's normal for me anyways, meeow. >>
Btw I like your avatar it's spooky, like a cute anime cat girl out for blood.

I took that test and it said I am a normie. XD! But I have a diagnosis of Asperger's though. lol That test hits the nail on the head but for some it doesn't. :-/ I tend to 'pass' as a normie sometimes so yeah... Even if I answer the questions honestly, I still get the normie results.
I don't use the word Asperger's folk use to describe everyday people, I believe it is degrading and wrong.

@ Liz - Ah... interesting...
Poet actually had to google a few when they took them.
I prefer the term "Aspie" personally, because it's cuter XD
Anyone I talk about AS with calls it "Ass Burger" =.=

Ah, poet knows a bit. Their best friend has it and poet is a suspected aspie.
Poet has been researching it for 5 years and a half now

*knock knock* Anyone home?
Sorry not sure what to say, but this looks like a place I should belong to.
I guess the current convo is on Asperger's? I know a little about it, not a lot, I have two cousins that are Aspies and we only recently ruled it out for me as well, but turns out I'm just an interesting and rather messed up bipolar. On the surface though, my cousins and I would appear to have the same symptoms.
What interests me is all three of us were initially misdiagnosed as ADHD. Did that happen to any of you? The more I research psychology, people's experience with diagnosing, the idea of normal, and the authority complex permeating the field, the more I question whether ADHD exists at all. It certainly has an established habit of standing in the way of accurate diagnosis of more serious conditions. What do you think?

Hello melted. :)
That's funny you brought that up actually because I suspected maybe I have some kind of a.d.d, but it gets to a point where I am done with diagnosis and I feel like I have a tendency to over-analyze everything that goes on with me, I have narrowed it down to a.d.d or aspergers though.
Would aspergers explain why I can't keep focused on a conversation to save my life? It's like I'm stuck in my head. The reason why I feel that it doesn't make sense I've known two aspie kids before and they are nothing like me in mannerism, and while my people skills suck, but I'm not oblivious to all social rules.

@ Scathe - That's how I feel... I've spent so long trying to find the answer that I just don't feel like it's worth it anymore XD
I just figure AS is the closest diagnosis I'll get.
Focus? What's focus? XD
I feel stuck in my head constantly.
One thing about Aspergers that MANY people don't understand. There is not a single identical Aspie. Not one. They are all different and unique. That's why they are so hard to diagnose

lol hummy... poet has the attention span of a 5 year old in a playground.
I CAN focus on some things, but usually only if it's entertaining. But typically most games only keep my attention for up to 2 weeks and a REALLY good game might keep my attention for a few months.
(To this day I have not found a game that could keep my attention constantly)
