Awww, that totally sounds cute and non threatening, which would be suitable for a place called Pleasanton. :D

Well Porcupine quills aren't anything to laugh at. My mom's dog got into a fight with one and they had to go to the vet to get them removed. D:
I think the Pleasanton Porcupines has a cute ring to it, and I'm sure it can be used as the butt of a few jokes. ;) I won't fight you on Panthers though as I have yet to hear a mascot be the porcupine.

Petoskey is a beautiful little town. Very high scale feel but very clean, very cozy kind of place. I've only stopped and walked their little downtown area.

I like the old feel of the school. It kind of reminds me slightly of the school used in 10 things I hate about you. I loved the outside of that building. If I remember you get an awesome aerial view during when the credits roll.

Yeah I don't mind. I'm just in love with the architectural structures of that school from that movie.
In all honesty I think building our own little town, using elements of other towns for inspiration may be easier as it will take a lot of the feeling of having to peg it just right. I mean this is meant to be something we do between the two of us, and if more people read it then well awesome I feel honored someone would want to read both of our first attempts at something.
I think we're gathering ideas wonderfully. I already have ideas of how I want to branch out and make it feel like a teenager's diary. It's going to be tough not to want to make it too mature sounding, like she's aged and much wiser than her age...just because I have to remember to rewind myself back into that time period and remember how warped my perception of my own life and everything around me was.

There is a lot that pictures can make up for in my own lack of creativity, so why the heck not? We can add locations as we go in that post I reserved.
One for high school, maybe a park, or a character's house. I do not want anything too fancy though. Living in a dream town would get boring after a while.
I feel bad for anyone keeping up with this. They must be like, bursting with more creative ideas. :P
I plan on adding lots of short sightedness. I think that one of the main ways I will develop my character is through retrospection. After all, that's what a diary is for! :D

I'm just loving the amount of thought that is being put into making this role play up. We may be going over the top, but by having the visuals to compare it with our description, and also collaborating about the details it will make it go together and be a learning experience for the both of us. :)
I'm getting a kick out of it, and perhaps since we weren't taught to do things in a certain way we can develope new techniques for roleplaying.
***WARNING: Twilight References ahead***
If someone is going to write a major book I would imagine A LOT of thought has to go into it. My mother in law has the book right now, but Stephanie Meyer has an excellent book on just all the character bios, to what cars they drive, where they came from, etc. It is so NEAT to see all these things compiled into different sections. Then to see music that influenced certain scenes, too, it's neat to listen to them and kind of get the vibe she was going for in the book. She also had to do a little research on the area she picked, Forks, WA, and found there was thee Quilote (sp?) tribe in a nearby reservation.
I know you're not a real big twi-hard, but the most fasicnating fact is that Jacob (one of the main characters) was only meant to be a very minor character who told her the story of his tribe. He gradually throughout the books was transitioned into a role much larger than that and had a profound impact on the story itself.

I too am loving the amount of detail that is going into the roleplay. I feel as though it is necessary, if not now, then later on when the topic comes up. It's better to get most things out of the way immediately before we find a bunch of inconsistencies or something.
Yeah.. lots of authors do planning like that, and it is something to behold. My English teacher from high school would talk about how even though he didn't like Harry Potter, he respected the amount of detail and planning that went into the plot.
I don't really see a need to define things like music taste, or car unless it is relevant to the story. I try my best to stay away from superfluous details. :D But everyone has their own opinions on what is superfluous or not. For some readers it's really important to be able to imagine each scene with precise detail, while sometimes I just don't care if a character drives a Toyota as opposed to a Honda because it's just not going to make a difference.

Well I think the whole car thing was a reflexion of their personalities. I haven't actually gotten to finish that in depth book as my husband lent it to his mom while I was only a quarter of the way in. She really did think of it all!

That is true. A person's clothing and taste in music can say a lot about them.
