"Third gym badge." Shane Lanson grinned, "And that bastard told me I wouldn't even get past the first." The male kept grinning, his emerald green eyes lit up. He was a rather petite eighteen year old with short brown hair. His clothing was fairly simple. A pair of blue jeans and a simple black T-shirt that had the elements of fire, lighting and water symbolized in colors with the silhouettes of what seemed to be Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon.
Shane looked down at a spikey yellow creature with an equally spikey white mane. "Ready to head to the next badge?" The Jolteon's eyes seemed to light up at this.
"Jolllt jolt!" The Pokemon exclaimed before jumping on Shane's left shoulder.
Shane laughed, "Let's..." He started before trailing off at a scream in the distance.
"Give my Roselia BACK!
Shane narrowed his eyes to this, turning to face the scream which was located towards the Pokemon center. He immidietly let out a long sigh, " You're kidding me. You've absolutely got to be kidding me!" He snapped, Jolteon growling lightly. A group of of three males in black outfits stood outside the Pokemon Center, but this isn't what caused this reaction. It was the simple design of a big red "R" printed on the front of their shirts.
"I thought they were staying in the Kalos Region.." He muttered, his eyes narrowed as he stood frozen.
Team Rocket was the name of this group. A large group infamous for stealing Pokemon and not just centered around one region, but every region. It was unfortunate that Shane's past was centered around this terrible group. He had been an active member of Team Rocket since he was six and up until his eighteenth birthday which was reaching very close to a year ago. His mother had joined Team Rocket when his father had died, desperate for money. Growing up from such a young age under Team Rocket's group, he had been given very opposite lessons from what normal children were to learn. Fourteen years had caused Shane to turn rather cold and quite an ass, although this hadn't flushed out his desire to take on the Pokemon League. It had been a goal of his since the day he had gotten the opportunity to observe Giovani's gym. This being said, he had been pressured by Giovani and even his mother to stay a member, but something made him quit that had nothing to do with his desires. A day before his birthday, Shane had woken up to his beloved Seviper missing. Rushing to the labs that they had been working on doing some sort of experiment on Pokemon, he walked in just in time to see his Seviper getting taken out of some strange looking machine. After this, the Seviper was never the same. Colder, no memory of Shane and quite violent. To this day Shane still wasn't quite sure what to do with the snake Pokemon but all he knew was that he'd never forgive Team Rocket...or his mother who had actually stayed behind.
"Jolteon..go and give them a good Thunderbolt." He said, a small smirk on his face as Jolteon began to get staticy. Without moving an inch, the Pokemon released a powerful bolt of lightning that quickly made them drop the Roselia to the ground. "Bastards.." Shane muttered, passing by them. "Let's try out the game corner..I don't even want to deal with this right now."
With a small grunt from Jolteon, he continued walking towards the entrance of the Game Corner.

Something untoward was happening at the Game Corner. It was a rare occurance for a punter to hit the jackpot on one of the machines and yet, all of a sudden, every machine in use landed a perfect line of sevens. The sound of streams of coins hitting the metal tray was endless, the punters were overjoyed and the staff were stood watching in disbolief. What on Earth was going on?
Xander knew exactly what was going on and as it happens, he was the cause of the sudden burst of luck within the building. Well he knew that he would be unable to fight his way out of the basement, the place was crawling with Rocket grunts that seemed to have crawled out of the wood work the moment he'd started working. So where brawn failed, brain prevailed.
Hacking into Rockets computer system hadn't been particularly difficult, Bishop had worked out the password for the security in under sixty seconds and all that Xander had to do was locate the folder conveniently named 'Slots' and up the win percentage from a measly five percent to an award winning one hundred. Step one was complete within five minutes.
Step two amused both Xander and Bishop. Knowing the password for the security to both game corner and the hidden base beneath, changing a single letter of the password ought to suffice in both distracting and frustrating long enough for the teal eyed trainer to make his escape. Though he didn't leave it at just that, oh no.
Seconds after all the slot machines finished paying the 'lucky' punters, every screen within the game corner and the basement switched off as the system restarted itself, putting the slightly altered password into use. The moment someone tried to log back into the system, a picture of a Porygon wearing a rather fetching white paper hat fashioned to look like a bishops mitre appeared on each and every screen.
While everyone was rushing around trying to figure out just what the hell was going on, Xander made his escape and casually walked out of the basement behind two 'staff' members sent to investigate what was going on with the machines. After spending a few minutes celebrating and mingling with the winners, the sandy haired teenager slipped out the front door and started walking towards the Pokemon center as if nothing had happened.

Before Shane had even got to the front of the building, he heard a door slam open. Shane watched as a man ran around the corner where he was, stopping for a brief second.
"I'm rich!" A man exclaimed in utter excitement, holding two large bags filled with what Shane could only assume to be coins. The man quickly ran off. The excitement didn't die from here, oh no. The slammed door seemed to have broken by the hinge, leaving a full on image of the inside of the building which seemed to be swarming with excited people.
Shane blinked, raising an eyebrow at the craziness centered within the game corner hearing words such as "free coins" and "broken machines."
The Jolteon standing by his side had his fur standing on end, making its usual spiky fur even more so. Well well...looks like this could be our lucky day, huh? " Shane spoke, shrugging shortly afterwards. "Eh..then again, people are greedy and those machines look ready to go belly up and empty." He sighed, scratching the back of his head. He turned around, loosing interest in the place rather quickly.
His eyes shifted towards the Pokemon Center where he had fumbled across the Team Rocket grunts. "Hang on a second...this is all too familiar. The slot machines getting tampered with? This happened in Kanto.." Shane muttered, stopping in front of the Center and cursing to himself.

Xander was surprised at how quickly word spread about the slot machines. All it took was a single man wielding two large bags of coins to boom at the top of his voice and everyone within the vicinity that heard, naturally went to see what was going on. Brilliant, this meant eveyone would be far too interested in fixing the problem to look for him, right?
Walking as casually as he could manage without looking too suspicious (which was difficult when ones legs were often described as spider like) the male made his way into the Pokemon center without too much trouble. Once inside however, something dawned upon him - he'd spent so much time thinking of how to get out of the base that he realised he hadn't thought about what he was going to do once he'd gotten to the Pokemon center. It was times like these he wished his mother was.. aha!
Making a beeline for one of the unused phones at the far side of the room, Xander sat down and dialled his mothers number. Within a minute, a middle aged woman with soft smile appeared on the small screen before them. The conversation that followed was a rather one sided affair, the male greeted his mother and once the pleasantries were over, he explained his current predicament and instead of receiving a helpful answer, well..
"I knew letting you cross continents on your own was a bad idea! Look at the mess you've gotten yourself into!" Xanders shoulders sank and his gaze fell upon the keyboard. The one soft smile had now turned into an angry frown and it was something he hadn't seen all that often.
"I should have never won you that Porygon, it's been a bad influence on you." And she continued to blame his beloved Pokemon for a moment longer, before releasing a heavy sigh and shaking her head.
"Mom, please, people can hear you and any one of them could be part of... that 'group'." It was at this point that Porygon poked his head from the corner of his satchel and with dark, emotionless eyes, watched the woman on the screen.
"I'm sorry, Alexander, but I've been so worried about you and now to hear this? Please go and find Officer Jenny and tell her what's happened, she'll know what to do."
"Okay, mom. I'll call you once everythings sorted." The two said goodbye to one another and Xander hung up. Now it was his turn to sigh. "Bishop.. we have to go and find Officer Jenny.."

The petite male entered the Pokemon center, a look of utter annoyance plastered to his face as he looked around for any potential Team Rocket members. Nothing out of the ordinary. People were scattered across the roomy building, sitting on the chairs and relaxing, a young boy anxiously waiting to retrieve their Pokemon from Nurse Joy. But hold on..
"Wait a second..it couldn't be." Shane almost snapped, although there was a touch of uncertainty in his facial expression as he walked up to the male standing at one of the phones.
"Jollllt, jollt!" Jolteon growled, sniffing Xander's pant leg.
"Well, well..if it isn't Xander." Shane spoke, ignoring this 'Bishop' he was talking to. "I thought you were working for those losers in Kanto? What brings you to Hoenn? Did they decide to move on to another region?" Shane pounded the male with question after question, his voice rather snide and snappy and Jolteon growling up at the Porygon. Perhaps the male hadn't done anything in particularly rude or offensive to Shane, but he couldn't help but scowl at anything and anyone who had to do with Team Rocket.
Perhaps it was his raised voice or Jolteon's body sending out some rather dangerous sparks all over its body that set Nurse Joy on edge.
"Uh..excuse me sir, please take your argument outside the Pokemon Center. This is a place for Pokemon to rest! Shane, who had been about to open his mouth to say something more before this closed his mouth and sighed before nodding.

Was going to Officer Jenny the best thing to do? Back in Kanto, Rocket had managed to corrupt many high ranking officers which was perhaps why the group were allowed to get away with what they were doing. Surely they hadn't got that strong a grasp on the people of Hoenn yet? There was only one way of finding out and Xander wasn't feeling very good about the idea.
Though his thoughts of strolling into the local police station were cut short as he noticed a spikey yellow Pokemon sniffing at his trouser leg. Why was he growling at him? Were his faded jeans not to the Pokemons fashion taste?
"Hm?" Xander looked from the Pokemon to it's trainer, head cocking to the left as the stranger started to interrogate him. This guy seemed familiar, but where had he seen him before? It didn't take long to work out, the mention of Kanto had unpleasant memories flooding back.
"I don't see what my business in Hoenn has to do with you." In the future though, he would certainly be more careful about who he chose to work for. So much for living a carefree self employed lifestyle.
Nurse Joy arrived on the scene quickly to put an end to it before it escalated any further and Xander took this opportunity to leave. Though after taking only a few steps towards the main doors, he stopped to look back at the male and his Pokemon. "I'm surprised you didn't know those 'losers' are in Hoenn already, did they cut you out of the loop?" The male shook his head. "Bishop and I have somewhere to be, nice seeing you again though." Lifting his hand to tip his invisible hat in goodbye, the male turned and walked from the building. Now all he had to do was find the local Officer Jenny.

Shane snorted, "Your business in Hoenn might not mean anything to me, but you seem to have dragged some beloved Team Rocket members with you." In truth, the male didn't care one way or another what this guy did. Most of this rant was more of a vent, but this vent wouldn't solve his problems.
"Cut me out of the loop? I cut myself out of the so called loop, something I should have done a long time ago." Who the real culprit was within Team Rocket for experimenting on his precious Pokemon was beyond him, but he would never seize trying to get to the bottom of it. Running from the Kanto region like he had done was just a way to avoid the problem, to start over new. But starting over new wasn't going to happen when Team Rocket was starting to make constant appearances.
He did a rather sarcastic wave to the male, seeming to have been slightly lost in thought before an imaginative light bulb popped on above his head. He zoomed out of the Center right after Xander grabbing the male's arm rather harshly and yanking him to the side of the center, ignoring Bishop entirely. "I have one more thing I have to ask you. And you better think twice before getting cocky with me." Shane's voice was low so as to not draw too much attention.
"I don't know if you're still working for those assholes or not, but the fact of the matter is you either are or have in the past. Shane paused, his eyes narrowing. "Those bastards took one of my Pokemon and did something to it. I have no idea what they did to it, but I need more information. The more information you give me the more likely I won't stalk you and find out for myself." He loosened his grip slightly, realizing it might have been a bit too harsh of a grip. This was the sort of thing he was used to. While he might have lightened up quite a bit since he had left Team Rocket, he still carried some rather bad habits..although he simply couldn't help it at this point. He wouldn't have any problem signaling his beloved Eeveelution to conjure a good Thunder on the Team Rocket member(s) who helped out with whatever experiment was done to Seviper.

Over the years Xander had found himself working for Team Rocket more frequently, it wasn't intentional and it wasn't until he'd hacked into their computer while doing whatever had been asked of him that he learnt the truth about them. It was amazing the number of unassuming or well known people that had joined the shady groups ranks over the years.
The male could use the virtual world to his advantage, but in the real world, being yanked out of sight of adults meant nothing but trouble - he'd learnt that from experience. Though there was no beating, the hand still holding his arm was causing a considerable amount of discomfort.
"I've never knowingly worked for them." No matter which way he looked at the situation, Xander was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He had no physical thread or strength to chase off this male, his Pokemon were brilliant (if he did say so himself) but he didn't like to battle and if he were to shout out for help there was a good chance he'd catch the attention of any Rockets in the area. Screwed.
"But since I found myself working for them more and more.. I started using Bishop to.. copy files and folders on the computers I worked on." There was a considerable amount of data stored on his beloved man made Pokemon. "I figured it might come in handy one day, I haven't looked through it yet though so I don't really know what I have." He said, looking down the Pokemon staring lifelessly at Shane.
Considering his situation for a moment, Xander finally lifted his gaze back to the male still holding onto his arm. "I just kinda.. landed myself on Rockets naughty list and probably lost them a lot of money in the process.. I need to find somewhere to hide for a while, if you can help us, then we'll help you." Going to the police would only make him more of a target afterall, if he could lay low for a bit and slip away when things had died down then everything would be okay, right?

Shane let out a long sigh, momentarily feeling the uncontrollable desire to pick a rock up and throw it hard at something breakable. How was it possible for someone to not have the slightest knowledge of whom they were working for at the time? Was this guy a dumb ass? Instead of voicing his thoughts out loud, he merely listened to the male talk about his Pokemon storing data. He had honestly never seen a Porygon up close before and had to hide his genuine curiosity about it that was threatening to show on his face.
In the end, he let out a sour laugh. "Naughty list, huh? Well for that I have to owe you some respect. These days my day is made by those guys going through hell." A grin momentarily stretched across his face before he sighed and scratched the back of his head, releasing the guy's arm. "I guess I could help you a bit in exchange for helping me find out what they're up to and what they did to my Pokemon.." He added hesitantly. All in all, Shane wasn't quite sure he could trust this guy. How did he know he wasn't lying? That perhaps he was working for Team Rocket? But what could he do?
"Alright.." Shane spoke once more, peaking his head out from behind the center, "Looks like they're all huddled up by the Game Corner, so we'll have to go a different route to get away from them..if they try anything I'll just have Sparky electrocute them." He added as he started walking. "Or we could always fly to a different town.." He scratched his chin for a moment, before turning to the guy with a raised eyebrow. He could simply call out his Flygon if the guy didn't have a Pokemon capable of flying him out of the mess.

Xander wasn't one to go back on his word, even though he didn't know what Bishop had saved while visiting the Rocket cyberspace, he was sure there was bound to be something of use to the male. In fact, perhaps it was time he had a proper look? For all he knew he was on top of Rockets hit list for what he'd done to the game corner, having some dirt on them would be beneficial, right?
"They may be going through hell now, but I don't want to stick around here so they can make the rest of my life hell." With his arm finally free, Xander let out a faint sigh of relief as he let it drop back to his side. For the moment at least, he knew he could put some trust into this male and part of him had been hoping leaving town would be a simple feat. Nothing was really going his way today, was it? If he had the means to fly out of town, he'd have surely done so the moment he'd set foot outside the game corner.
"My little Hoothoot knows fly, but he's very unsociable and tends to sleep during the day." Yes, because being nocturnal was the problem, the poor owls size had absolutely nothing to do with it. Nothing at all. Nope. Xander wasn't really much of a trainer, he'd spent far too much of his life sat at a computer and not enough training his Pokemon. After recent events, he was going to make more of an effort with traning, he had to be able to defend himself and his Pokemon.
