Welcome to the Classic Lounge
Before chatting know these two rules
Rule 1: there is a three sentence minimum for replies.
Rule 2: you must always end your post with a question to another user.

we have a lounge and Now we have a bar too![Classic Bar Charity]

I decided to make this to encourage more in depth conversations. Not as long as the ones found in the critical thinking forum, but enough to feel like a discussion. As you see there is a bar along the top of each post, I thank you for reading. Before you post please keep in mind that the minimum is three sentences. The other rule that you should be aware of should you decide not to read the next few posts is that your post must always end in a question. It can be to a single user in the thread or to the community as a whole. The menewsha rules are to be followed always. There will be various contests within the thread. The analysis section will review the benefits and etiquettes of posting in this thread.

Discussion in this thread should be worth while. Each post is required to end with a question for one or more users to answer. Answering another user can be hectic so don't hesitate to quote the original poster. The general requirements for posting is a three sentence minimum.
For example:
Hello there I am 2600. I hope that you feel welcomed in my new chat thread. Do you think that this thread is well put together?
[answering the question gets you classy points]
Although it may not look like much, it encourages other users to respond and interact. This thread will be a place to meet new faces and learn more about old friends. There will be different topic suggestions within the current and classic posts. Should you go above and beyond you may be added to the whitelist. This means having active conversations which include intelligent conclusions or an addition of your own opinion.
For Example:
I find that there are benefits and detriments to not going to school. Although the American school system is a valid institution, children can be taught at home. Within a home setting the child is less likely to be influenced by capitalism, unless the parents allow. One can also raise the child as genderless. These can be benefits, but once the child grows up and goes into the real world they will be disoriented and confused. Someone could then force a gender identity onto that child. Do you think that it is necessary for children to go to school or is it better to be homeschooled?

Hiya 2600! Yes i think your thread is very well put together! It looks awesome!

I think that children are better off homeschooled, because school tends to lower self esteem and confidence. However,i think its Also important for a child to be social if they are homeschooled.

Does anyone feel like their self esteem was lowered by expectations of classmates or others in school?

Thank you for the compliment. Now I shall attempt to answer your question. Honestly I still am in love with your wonderland avatar.

I have definitely felt a detriment to my self esteem. People have called me by many names for various reasons over the years. Middle school was probably the worst time, not just for me. I had friends with issues who had more friends with issues. It was only until we got older that we realized we weren't dumb and society had just handed us bad cards. Now I try to live my life the way I want to and to those who try and lower myself esteem, I just try and raise theirs in return. Now I have a question to follow this:
Is it better to end a poisonous friendship or to make amends with the person and tell them why they are poisonous? (In theoretical terms, poisonous meaning bad for you)

A new thread, how lovely!
I'll be hanging out in here a bit
Yes, I felt like my self-esteem was lowered so much in primary and middle school. Being unique was wrong. You had to fit in or endure ridicule. I tried to fit in and ended up losing myself. In highschool, however, it was the other way round. Unique was best and people wanted to know about you. So I found myself again and my self esteem was boosted a lot!
Do you think that music is changing and evolving for the worse? Or best?

you're very welcome and thank you! this has been my favorite theme so far!

hmmm, I think its better to end things with the person. the reason why being that the person must have some pull on you in the first place for you to have been friends with them and more than likely they will only create drama about you being honest with then or worse, try to convince you that they can change.

what's your favorite song this week?

---------- Post added 11-30-2014 at 02:08 AM ----------

hiya superzombiep! :) hugz!

I'm very sorry that you both had problems like that in school :(
my mother was wonderful and she gave me all the tools to have mayb too high self esteem, but my family didnt have as much money as others did so of course I felt the sting of not being as 'cool' as some of the others :/

I think music is evolving for the better because I feel like music is circular in a manner of speaking. some of NY most favorite songs that are new remind me of some older song or another, and I feel like music is constantly building onto itself and getting better

Welcome to the thread SuperZombiePotatoe! Your avatar is looking stunning. I feel like I haven't chatted with you in a while.

I believe that there are many influences to be considered. In the case of popular music the current themes of self improvement tend to make me feel better. However if Nikki Minaj's anaconda is included, then american culture is going either in reverse or some new direction that involves a lot of twerking. There are still songs about the party lifestyle coming out. Although I may not condone extreme partying I cannot deny the catchy beats. I would love to see a popular artist rise to the billboard charts using just their voice. Now that would be an accomplishment. Speaking of accomplishments it is time for another question.
Have you accomplished something that you are proud of and why or what things would you like to accomplish in life?

I recently made a new playlist on spotify. It is titled [x] and it includes a lot of songs that I listend to I'm high school that center around a relationship type theme. I think I may go with ke$ha's deconstructed version of blow. Her voice just sounds incredible and I am always amazed at how the song changed from a dance anthem to a ballad. Excellent production skills are required for such endeavors. How much do you know about the production of music?

my best friend clairey is in Scotland!!! she's awesome!

i like certain songs by people, not so much all their stuff. right now I love let it go by James bay, Melanie Martinez carousel(? it could be carnival I'm not sure) simple man by shinedown, bottom of the river by delta rae, paris by grace potter and the nocturnals

my parents were hippies and I like songs that remind me of my favs from what they listened to. most of those songs are kinda bluesy and remind me of older artists or songs. i like the Melanie martinez song because its creepy lol

I am not too much of a cook, but I enjoy cooking with others. Crafts such as artsy stuff like drawing and writing are fun to me, but only when they are not forced upon me. I always love reading. I really enjoy listening to audio books because I can listen to them while doing other activities. I am currently listening to Nelson Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom. Have you heard of this book if not will you google the title?

Audio books are awesome, though I can't get a hold of a lot of them. I always go back to ink and paper
I've heard of that book! being South African it's considered strange if you haven't heard of it. I have not read it, though, and I think that it's something that I should do at some point. I have such a long list of books to read!

Omg Zombie you're South African? You may have told me before, if so then I apologize. I volunteered in South Africa over the past year in a human rights office.
Quote:

My favorite genre is probably psychological thrillers. Basically movies that are too creepy to be normal and not scary enough to be considered horror. :) Movies such as Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, and Wristcutters A Love Story also interest me.
Have you ever traveled outside of your hometown or home country, where did you go to and what for?
