My sleeping pattern is pretty much nocturnal to be very honest. I have the bad habit of staying up until around 10am and then sleeping until dinner on my days off. Then on my first day back to uni I'll stay up all night/day and then crash at like 7pm and sleep through until about 5am, which continues until my next day off.
For many many years, I was nocturnal... but then somewhere my brain screwed up and stayed awake for both night AND day so I didn't get any sleep at all! D:
One of my New Years Resolutions was to sleep at night and stay awake during the day. I know that sounds so basic and simple, but I really struggled for years.
I can proudly say, minus maybe 2 or 3 days, that I've been successful!
Ever since I started working, I've been having a pretty regular sleep schedule...
I "go to bed" around the same time each night, but I usually don't fall asleep until around 11pm-12am.
I try to do the same thing each night as well, put pajamas on, get into bed, play some music, read a book, then just keep reading until I fall asleep.
i have a screwed up schedule of sleep during holidays... i get up at 7am but i sleep pretty late like 1 or 2 am... which makes my day stink!
when the kids have school only then do i manage to sleep at 11 pm and an sane for the next day when i wake at 6am
My sleep schedule has been messed up since... god, forever? The past few days I had to get up and go to bed pretty early (for me, anyway. Still a little late for normal people!), so I'm going to try to keep that rolling and not fall back into my old patterns. There's just no reason for me to be up at 3 am. The rest of the internet is fast asleep, and it just... doesn't feel good. It feels boring and sleepy and desperate. But it's one thing to say I need to go to bed early, and an entirely different thing to actually do it.
My sleep habits have been messed up for more than a decade, at this point. I can't seem to get up or go to sleep at the same times two days running, let alone maintain a longer sleep habit. I spent a year tracking my sleep, just to see how weirdo my sleeping actually was, and this is what it looked like:
SPOILERX
In short, chaos.
(I mean, not total chaos, obviously, but yeah.)
I've noticed since I've gotten older I have been getting up a lot earlier than I used to. I can still stay up late, but my body would prefer going to bed at nine pm.
My sleep schedule is everywhere all the time, I don't know how I manage to get up on time to go to school. I've also found myself that I can get up earlier and earlier as I get older, but have never been able to sleep in without feeling icky (unless I'm dead tired, then I can sleep like a log)
My basic sleeping schedule is heavily nocturnal. I rarely fall asleep before 6-7am (and not uncommonly, 9-10am) and as a result I am not often up before 2-4pm, 5pm at latest since I do have newspaper delivery rounds.
On top of that, I frequently deal with insomnia.
And when something heavily interferes with my sleeping pattern (real life; illness; occasionally the aforementioned insomnia), my pattern starts dancing around for a while before finally settling back to my usual schedule. (A few weeks back, my schedule got skewed so much that most of my sleep was gained between 6pm and midnight. Then a day without sleep, noon-to-four PM + 7am to 9am. Day after that, no sleep again, then back to 6pm-to-midnight. Then it split up in 9pm-midnight and 7am-11am; a few days later the pre-midnight stuff dropped from my schedule again and I was back at 7am-3pm)
For the last 9 years I have been battling a wake up at 0530-0700. Then go to sleep at 0200-0400. I get anywhere from 2 to almost 4 hours of sleep a night normally. It is what it is at this point. Anything more than that and I feel completely exhausted throughout the day. Sunday normally is my lazy, take naps throughout the day, day. lol
My insomnia acts up something fierce when I'm super stressed - which is the entire school year. :( I miss sleeping at regular times. I used to have a better sleep schedule when I was in HS. :/

I'm that way too but for me 5-6 hours of sleep does me good. Any more then that, and I wake up tired, cranky, and don't want to do anything for the rest of the day. On the rare occasion I DO get 8+ hours of sleep, I'm fine but I feel my best when I get 6 hours of sleep.
I prefer to stay up all night, then sleep when the sun starts to come up.
It's a habit I've not been able to break for probably more than 10 yrs.
I think it's because I feel safer when the sun is up, and other people are awake.
I'm in bed no later than midnight and up around 9 or 10 AM. Once work starts full swing again I'll be 10pm - 7am. with the occasional 12 hour day throwing it off to a 10pm - 4am.
i have a tendency to go on my phone for a really long time before i go to sleep, and then i lose track of time so even if i do get to bed rather early i end up sleeping late.
i've been trying to go to sleep around 10, but it always ends up being more around 11-12, and i wake up at the same time every day, so if i go to sleep even a few minutes later i wake up super cranky. :<
Recently I haven't been able to stay up too late. Like I crash at midnight but even more recently, I haven't been able to sleep until like 1-2am. ITs so weird, Im not tired at all.
Too much sugar and weird work hours? I have no idea. I dont mind it, because that means I dont fall asleep on people. >.>
I don't know that I'd consider them 'weird'. I'm in school, so they're going to be kind of mucked up for a while; particularly when I have assignments and extensive reading to do.
Just got to give those professors love who think assigning fifty pages in two days is "part of the industry".
i can sleep all day and stay up all night. I'm naturally nocturnal. working night jobs have always been a breeze or staying out all night partying literally until the sun comes up. When I was in college I did my best studying or completion of assignments in the late night hrs.

I wish I could understand my sleep patterns. I have a mixture of three. Some days I'll go to bed before 1am, some days I'm out by 2am, other days I'm not out until after 6am. And usually I sleep for a good 12 hours.
