So, who else has read the original Sherlock Holmes stories by Doyle?

Not I. But I do remember reading some Sherlock Holmes short stories when I was in sixth grade. There was a mentioning that Holmes had an older, smarter brother, but I never got to read any story wherein Holmes' brother appears. Have you? The idea is most intriguing if you are a fan of this whole English mystery series.

I also have never heard any mention of Holmes' brother in any of the movies that have came out recently.
Oh, maybe one day my dreams will come true...

Me, me! I've read the Doyle stories. Plus the knock off ones. Sherlock stories are my favorite.

Mr w, Sherlock has older, smarter bro named mycroft. He is physically the opposite. Sherlock, thin and always outside on the move. Mycroft is huge man who hates going outside. The 2 work in tandem, sometimes.

It was hinted by Watson but never confirmed that Sherlock was connected to the royal family.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Morton Downey Jr Sherlock movies. My only complaint was in their treatment of Irene Adderley. But, poetic license.... Maaaaaaybe

Holy Baskerville batman! I'm so pleased to see this thread revived.
I saw the abdominal bride. It's a clever production.

The back and forth between 2 time frames. ,oh! And having everyone from Watson's parlor maid to Mrs Hudson mad cause they weren't more important in the stories

Ahh, both good.

At first, I was slightly confused with the time changing back & forth, but of course you gotta watch it to find out more.

I thought it was cool how they tied it all into the feminist movement in the end

No, no one allowed women to vote.
Women took that right by dogged determination& rightly so

Yes, you're right.

If you don't mind my asking, what is your opinion on the word feminist / feminism?

I never thought about it.
It's just a name for a women's Civil rights Movement.
Like trying to make equal pay for women law... I'm for it BTW.

I am glad to hear that! I think a lot of people think feminism means anti-man-ism or something...when it actually means equality...and then they don't remember that feminists are the ones who fought for equal rights, including but definitely not limited to the right to vote.
