I don't mean I have insomnia and am unable to fall asleep. I mean I have to be awake and am struggling in doing so.
In my case a possibly 1 day old kitten was found in our front yard. Little kitten doesn't seem to be doing well so I'm up for the long haul until morning when the vet opens so I can get the kitten some real help. My own cat wants to help it seems but definitely can't since she has some odd form of virus that I don't want kitten to catch. it's bad enough that I can pass it to the little one.
So mene people, what do you do to keep yourself awake when you CAN'T sleep. Coffee does not work on me. neither do energy drinks. I burnt those out in college.

Loud music and having other people around to stay up with me. If you can't blast loud music on speakers, still works for me to play it through headphones.

Oh, and drinking lots of water to keep you hydrated. I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

I had made it through that night. Kitten now has some meds. Likely 4 days old. It's still going to be a long night but tonight it's not all on me. My husband and I can both trade off.
I did notice water would help. Food not so much. I thought maybe popcorn and a movie. NOPE. Full belly means wanting to sleep. It doesn't help that it's could. I just want to be all curled up and cozy and asleep like.

Just staying on the Internet seems to do the trick, I often have to force myself to get some sleep! Also doing puzzles helps a lot, keeps me focused on something.

Hmmm I can't really run the treadmill while the husband sleeps. But that normally does give me energy and clarity.

find someone talkative and strike up a conversation. barring that, go for a walk or work on something creative. that's what works best for me, anyway. watching movies or reading, on the other hand, will instantly put me to sleep.
