For some reason I hated Beauty and the Beast, the animated version, but absolutely adored the live action one.
I didn't hate the animated one. I just really liked the live action one.

I feel like most people feel that way.
Most people didn't hate the animated, (I think I'm the only one...)

But they still liked the live action one. :D

I feel the same way, Shadami.

I think maybe because the animated one was just... well... I don't know.
In the animated one, Lefou was basically Gaston's punching bag, Maurice was literally crazy (inventing shit that looked dangerous) and The Beast wasn't really mature at all, he was just kind of... I don't know... Goofy?

But then, I am being really harsh. All in all, it was meant to be a kid's movie, so I shouldn't look at it from an adult perspective...

But even as a kid, I didn't like it.

and they changed that in the live action i take it?

and i think the beast is suppossed to be a child still because that's when he got turned into the beast. and since so many years have passed he's still the age mentally that he was than.

Yeah, well, in the live action one they made Lefou gay which got a load of people up in arms. But I liked it, I felt like it fit in really well with the movie. Lefou was more of a silly little sidekick than a punching bag in the live action one and he was more of a good friend to Gaston than anything. Well, too loyal of a friend, but a friend nonetheless. :)

And Maurice wasn't some crazy whack-job in the live action version either. He was a painter/inventor who made little trinkets and such... Not actual death machines. :D

That makes sense for the Beast, Shadami.
I didn't think of it that way. I think I remember in the animated version the beast had to fall in love with someone before he turned 21, which would mean that he became a beast when he was much younger, maybe a teenager or so. And I don't remember, but did the last petal of the rose fall in the animated version?

I like the live action Beauty and the Beast because it gave more background to the characters. Which was amazing.

That song is so beautiful!
I bought the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack on vinyl and every day I listen to it and sing my heart out to Evermore.

Lefou was one of my favorite characters in the live action version. :D
He's adorable.

I definitely liked Beast a lot more in the live action version better than I did in the animated. But overall, I liked the whole live action movie much more than the animated. Now if we could only get a live action version of Princess and the Frog!

I liked the live action better because it gave so much more background for the characters. Though I still loved the animated one.

Yeah but there are so many ways they could screw that up.

I trust Disney will do an... at least, an "okay" job of depicting the characters from Princess and the Frog into a live action film. Or if we could get a live action Mulan! Or a live action Little Mermaid!! I want to see Queen Latifah play Ursula!

I used to want a live action Lion King, but I realized... that would all be animated, so there's no point in it.

If they do Mulan they sure as hell better have a Chinese cast. They are doing the Little Mermaid but it's nothing like the movie. Have you seen the live action Jungle Book? It was amazing.

Oooh, I haven't seen the live action Jungle Book yet! But I heard really, really good things about it! I think I might try to watch it soon.

Yes! They'd better have a Chinese cast for Mulan!

I have yet to see the live action Beauty and the Beast. Or Jungle Book.
And if they do a live-action Mulan, I will be insanely happy, but they should at least have the main leads played by Asian actors.

All the characters should be Chinese actors. Every last single one. It's set in China for Pete's sake.

Beauty and the Beast Live Action was amazing.

I've heard.

Another movie they shouldn't whitewash if they do a live-action of; Pocahontas. It's another one of my favorites and if they decide to whitewash the cast I'd be pissed.

haha beauty and the beast live action wasn't right tho. It was the most British Beauty and the Beast I ever seen. Why even fake a French accent. its all bad.

They better leave Pocahontas alone!! the Disney version isn't the real story about her anyways. Its already kinda white washed with john smith being the good guy and all.

Coming from someone whos French...I find the live action beauty and the beast highly offensive.

I think they went with it being mostly British because it was a remake of the original, which is mostly British too, I believe. It may have been American, though, I can't remember.

But you've got to realize, it wasn't meant to be the actual Hans Christen Anderson (or whoever wrote Beauty and the Beast) version of the tale, it was all supposed to be a remake of the original Disney animated one, which had fake French accents in it as well.

They did a load of research on France and even took inspiration from real French locations to make the movie, they usually don't just throw things together willy-nilly in Disney movies, it's all highly calculated and carefully researched before they even begin.

So while the movie is set in France, you have to realize, it's not a French movie. :s

I don't know if I would want a live action version of Pocahontas. But I would definitely love a live action of Princess and the Frog. Or AT LEAST a live action story about a black princess for a change. Princess and the Frog was nice, but Disney constantly keeps pushing out the same kinds of princesses, I want there to be an African princess or something that black children can look up to.

Iava the vampire, there are just scenes in the live action I find stupid. Like why sing in French and then talk British. Also, in real life there are British people who don't really like French people anyways so why do the movie at all. Even though Disney does their research they are still racist. I read the other comments about making sure Mulan should be an all Asian Cast. So why couldn't they use actual French people. There are French actors you know. all that research they could've found some. If they decide to use Filipinos for the Mulan Cast but its set in China ARE YOU GOING TO SAY its not a Chinese film BUT ITS SET IN CHINA. Everyone who cause an uproar and say how dare they!
Princess and the Frog is another disappointment. they should've made her a princess from the get go and instead made her a cook who fought for wat she wanted and marries some broke ass prince. racist to a T.
Don't get me wrong I grew up with Disney movies and I like most of them, but I know they need to get their act together because I agree, Im sick of the same, not very diverse, Princesses.

P.S. The Movie is meant to be a French film and they classified It as such. The only reason I could see the animation being American is cuz its for children and for them to learn English and understand the movie.
