It's a very good series! I believe it goes: Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras. It's targeted toward teenagers, and I read them when I was one. From what I recall, its a dystopian future where children are "ugly", all the time, and don't live with their parents or siblings. Once they reach a certain age they undergo surgery to make them "pretty" and then are allowed to live with other pretty people. If you refuse or fail to follow all the rules, you'd be kicked out of the community and banished for life. It follows the life of a girl who goes through the surgery, and eventually goes beyond that by becoming a Special - someone who makes sure people follow the rules. In time she realizes things aren't as they seem, that this world isn't right for people to live in.
At least I think that is the basic premise. It's been over a decade since I read them.
Anyway...Z is for The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks.

Good one, Cora! I'm always surprised by how many people think Frankenstein is the monster, and not the doctor. The monster never has a name!
This one isn't quite as old, but I do believe a classic nonetheless.
G is for The Giver, by Lois Lowry.

R is for Rage, by Richard Bachman/Stephen King. I read it for the first time last year: I can understand why he doesn't publish it anymore, though I don't think any books should be banned of course. I'm lucky to have several copies of it. Well, collections of his short stories that contain it. Rage, on it's own, goes for thousands of dollars and I'm not that desperate to have a copy of that
