I was bored yesterday and wanted to try drawing something more cartoon-ey than my usual realism. So I ended up drawing one of my OCs in both styles, and I want to know which one looks better.
Original Style:

New Style:

Constructive criticism is welcomed and encouraged on both pieces.

I like the new style better.
Of course, that might just be because I love rounded cartoonish type drawings...
hehe
They both look cool though!

I really like both of them. But I'd have to say I like the newer one best.

So the general consensus is that Disney-esque is better than realism? Well, I guess that works for me. The realism piece took four times as long. >>

Aww.
I wouldn't stop doing realism if you prefer that.
The top on the original drawing is really detailed.
Anyone can see that you put a lot of work into it.

I love both of them, but I actually prefer the second one. Only because the hair on the first one seems a bit out of place compared to everything else.

I like them both, but I'm leaning more towards the second one. I think it's just the hair on the first seems out of place a bit, like anna pointed out.

They are both Really awesome..
but I prefer the orginal one better...
It's more in depth and colored well and I just seem to like the realism better.. The cartoon one is good too but it has NOTHING over the orginal hehe
one thing I do want to say is the hair seems a little off you should probably smooth it out a little more it doesn't seem to flow right and I really dont know why. I think it's because it seems VERY stiff.. like no movement.. remember theres many strands in hair and NOT everyone goes the same way... expecially with more realistic pieces.. make some strands here and there... some in the face cause realism the hair isn't perfect like in the cartoon ones.. ::nods:: other than that awesome job!

They are both beautiful drawings. =3 I personally prefer the second piece, but that's because I'm an anime freak. >w<
I have a question about your character: Is she a member of Organization XIII? 'Cause that's what her coat reminds me of. >w<

I personally like the new style best. It looks a lot smoother then the older style (and its very cute!).

I like the old better. That picture is gorgeous! I love your technique. The new style's cleaner... but so much less expressive. And there's so much less to it.
The old is showing something. The new is telling us something strait out.
I REALLY love them together. I like to look at how you deal with lines in both. And how you're style carries through both of them.

Both are good for different reasons, The lineing is better in the 2nd pic and the texture is better in the first pic, So I cant really choose D= very well done though :D

The second one has more motion.
You can feel her attitude easier.
The other is pretty and has nice texture [ the hair],
But the second has more attitude.

I like the new one for the expression, but I would still like the old one as more of a profile picture because it shows detail. So I would say keep both, but the newer is nicer for most pic, but I do also like the detail of the other with it's realism.

The New Style has more in common as a piece then the older style. The hair in the older style looks out of place. I also prefer cartoon style over the more realistic look. Very nicely drawn by the way. :)

- I like the old one better. I think you need to smooth your shading out, though. Maybe take a simplified realism route- but not quite as simplified as in that anime-ish 2nd drawing. It looks somewhat cleaner than the blurred attempt at 3D. I think apart from the clothing and the same coloring, they look nothing like the same person, though.
One advice on the anime like hair- don't make the lines between strands so long. It makes the hair look like it's greasy, or maybe in dreadlocks.
I'm very critical, but only because you asked for critiques. Otherwise, I absolutely love the 'realism' piece, and the anime one is so cute I want to gnaw on that nose ;_;

I think for more serious pieces, or pieces that you want to look more traditionally beautiful, the first style is great.
For more clean pieces, art shop pieces, and pieces where you want to convey a more lighthearted emotion, the second style is great.
Really, you're just a very talented artist. <3

They both are pretty good, but I think that the new style fits here better. I mean, that this character looks much cooler when you draw it in a second style.
Keep up the good work ^^

They both are very nice ^^
Except, I think most people would like the new style because it's happy and cheerful, while your old style picture shows the character serious.
