âAll life starts with birth, everything new needs an instant in which it comes to be, an instant similar to birth that could possible be called birth. This moment is for everything, for insects, humans, the universe, and even the much talked about, studied and very real creatures of the night, vampires. The birth of these is a mystery, if they are given birth to or if a person has to be changed, or something that we humans cannot comprehend, as through they were 4D.â
Sebi stopped reading her essay aloud, and put her head in her hands. She had to talk about something for a whole five minutes, so she had chosen a complicated subject that she could spend ages explaining, but now she thought maybe it was too complicated, talking about something that no one truly knew about was tiring and meant that she had to think of all the possible ideaâs. Even a highly qualified scientist had no idea of how vampires truly came to be, some believed they were simply born like all other creatures, others that they had to be blooded or as Sebi had already mentioned, come to be in a way that no one can understand. She looked at her work with a frown, thinking about what to write, when a voice echoed up to her room.
âSEBI! You have to have your breakfast and get ready for schoolâ
âKay Dadâ Sebi called back with a slightly annoyed expression in her voice.
She yawned and grabbed her bag, leaving her essay on her desk to continue when she came home.
Her house was huge, with ten bedrooms, each with an on suit bathroom, three other bathrooms, two living rooms, a large library, a gym, a swimming pool and many other rooms. Her father owned a chain of five star Hotels and her mother was a big time model. Sebi had an older brother, Caspian, who always dressed in leather and spent half of his time on, fixing or admiring his motorbike and the other half with his latest girlfriend, usually in his bedroom. Then there was Sebiâs little sister, Rosie, who was almost always happy and had no idea that there was anything bad in the world, and apart from being spoiled by her parents was one of the sweetest girls a person could come across. Sebi was a popular girl of fourteen; she was beautiful, with blond hair, blue eyes and a perfect body, intelligent, excellent at sports and could play the flute, violin and piano expertly. She was the kind of girl that all the other girls wanted to be and the boys all wanted to date. Despite her overwhelming popularity, she was lonely; she hated all the people that followed her because she knew they were not real friends. There was something missing in her life, but even she had no idea what that something was.
The kitchen was a modest room, with a small breakfast table, a few sideboards, the fridge and a couple of cookers. Sebi sat at the table and dumped her bad on the floor next to her, just as her dad came over with her bowl of cereal and glass of orange juice. She smiled at him and started to eat.
âSo, any plans for today?â he said as he washed his own bowl in the sink.
âNo, just the usual, although we are starting the self defence classes at lunch, and some people are gonna be away on a drama trip so we probably wont do much in class,â she took another spoonful and chewed thoughtfully, when ever more than ten people were missing in a class, the teachers decided not to do important work so that they didnât have to do a catch up session, no one could figure out if the teachers were being nice or were just plain lazy.
There was the sound of feet coming down the stairs, a girl crying and some ones laughter. Caspian came running into the room with Rosieâs favourite doll held up high, closely followed by Rosie herself, who had tears streaming down her face.
âCommon pipsqueak, jump for it, common, you gotta work for it,â Caspian laughed as he lowered the doll and lifted it again just out of her reach.
âCas, please, Lulu doesnât like heightsâ Rosie cried, another tear sneaking down her cheek as she stretched up to try and grab her apparently terrified doll.
Sebi sighed, stood up and grabbed the doll âCas, there is something wrong with youâ she handed the doll back to Rosie, who took her gratefully and snuffled into her âIâm going to school, bye dad, bye bye Rosieâ kissing her sister on the head she finished her cereal, picked up her bag and walked to school.
School was just around the corner from their house and it only took a few minutes to get there, where the usual group of clingers was waiting for Sebi to arrive.
âHEY SEBI!â the group yelled all at the same time, the same as any morning since she came to this school, three years ago.
One of the group, Sebiâs âbest friendâ Hannah, came running over âOh my god did you watch Celeb challenge last night, Tanya was voted off, I so canât believe itâ
The usual talk, the usual groupies, the usual boring school, her usual boring life, she hated it but even so she had to smile for the group, showing off her pearly whites âYea, I know, can you believe it? She was, like, the best girl, they should have voted Nichole of she is a right cowâ
This became the morningâs conversation, if it wasnât the latest T.V shows it was celebrities, fashion, gossip or boys. No one understood that Sebi hated all of this stuff, but because she was the most popular girl in school, she was expected to be vain and shallow and talk about uninteresting things like when her next facial will be, yawn!
Half way through the conversation she tuned out and began to watch the clouds with the far away look in her eyes, she was thinking about the essay she had left on her desk and wondering if she could just talk about what she thought the birth of vampires was, but that would be too short, maybe she could do all different opinions, but that could turn out to be a ramble.
âHey, whatâs up?â one of the troop asked, being the first to notice that Sebi wasnât quite all there âsomething bad happen at home?â
âNo, Iâm ok, seriously, just thinking about the essay for Englishâ
âOh my god! I had forgot, I havenât even started itâ the group erupted into a flurry of âoh my godâ and âwhen is it in for?â
Sebi had enough and turned away from them âI gotta go do something guys, Iâll see you laterâ before they could answer, she ran into the school and to the âbogsâ. Leaning against the wall she closed her eyes and sighed, this is why she felt so lonely, they never truly liked her, they didnât worry about her or care for her, they were just popular if they were able to be around her. She opened her eyes again and looked around the âbogsâ as though hoping a magical toilet fairy would appear and take her away from all this. But she wasnât hoping, she was listening. There was a strange noise coming from outside, like the sound of a radio that couldnât get a proper signal. She peered out of the densely frosted bathroom windows but could make out nothing more than an odd black shape were there shouldnât be one. It could have been a technician fixing up some wires on the roof, or someone retrieving a ball that had been kicked too high, but that would require movement. This object was scarily still, even the wind didnât make its hair or clothes move.
Sebi suddenly felt cold, as though ice fingers her prodding her insides and turning them too, into ice. The world around her darkened and the black figure was the only thing she could see. It edged towards her as the walls around her disintegrated and melted away into nothingness. She saw him, dressed in dark red clothes, pale skin, black hair and green eyes, he opened his mouth into a smile and showed two small fangs. Sebi screamed, or tried to, her vocal cords were cut short by his clawed hand gripping her delicate throat. He hissed. He bent forward. He opened his mouth. He reeled away, looking at something behind her and then, he was gone. The room was back to normal. There was a teacher fussing over her, talking to her, but her ears were ringing and she couldnât hear anything and then she blacked out.
Sebi woke a few minutes later in the nurseâs office of the school. Two of the schools nurses were in the room and they started babbling when they saw her wake up, there was a cheer from outside where she saw through the glass her many groups standing outside, where they had waited for her to wake up.
One of the nurses pulled down a blind over the window and said, âYou had a slight fainting spell dear, Iâm going to need to know if youâre anaemic, diabetic, epileptic, or have any other conditions that involve faintingâ
Sebi blinked at her in confusion âum, I know that my mum is slightly anaemic, but I donât think I have any thing like thatâ she looked around and sat up, immediately getting a head rush. She winced and breathed deeply for a few seconds until her head stopped throbbing.
âHave you been feeling ill lately, or were you maybe overheated, it is the middle of summer, you could have over exerted yourself. Did you get scared by something? That could be a fainting causeâ
She thought back âI was feeling stressed, and it is hotâ she thought back to the dream she had, maybe all three had mixed together to cause her to faint but she didnât want to worry the nurses so she just said âcome to think of it, this jacket does make me feel really hotâ she took it off and fanned herself with her hand to make it look more convincing.
âAh, that could have been it, I suggest you donât put it back on and try to keep cool for the rest of the day. We have called home, your father is on his way, go and wait for him outside but take this with youâ the nurse gave her a small ice pack and waved her out of the door while the other nurse made sure that none of the pupils could get to Sebi while she was walking outside.
Her father was already outside waiting for her and leapt out of his car to run and make sure that she was ok. âThe school called and I was so worried, you didnât hurt your head did you?â he hugged her affectionately and stroked her hair ânow when we get home your getting a drink and some ice cream, and you can lie in your bed until you feel better, you donât need to go to school tomorrow and then itâs the week end but you can stay off for a few more days if you want âŚâ
Typical dad, Sebi thought, a small faint, not even for half an hour, and he is worried sick, but I suppose its better that the guys at school, they were just worried that if I was too sick they wouldnât be able to hang around with me and wouldnât be popular anymore. She followed her dad into the car and held the ice pack in her still shaking hands.
He fussed about her all the way home, saying, âyou can watch your T.V or listen to your radio, anything you need to keep happy and to relax youâ and âIâll make sure no one disturbs you, Iâll kick Cas out for the weekend if I have to, because my little baby needs her restâ.
Sebi hardly listened, he did this whenever she got sick, whether it was a stomach bug or even the slightest of colds. She was almost sick because of him once when he gave her too much medicine and no fresh air because he didnât want her get worse. This time she wasnât actually sick in any way, she had just fainted, supposedly because she was feeling hot and stressed. He never let her walk the five minutes home if she was ill, he always came around with the car, despite the short, easily walk-able distance home.
A minute after she had got in she was home, she shakily stepped out of the car, helped by her father, and into the house. He almost carried her upstairs and into her room then kissed her on the forehead and told her to call if she needed anything. The house was silent because Cas was round his girlfriendâs house and Rosie was still at school, but Sebi had a pounding headache. She took a headache tablet with some water, that her dad had left next to her bed, and looked over at her desk. The essay had moved. Frowning, she walked over, it was left under her pencil, now it was right at the edge of her desk and her pencil lay on the floor.
Sebi called downstairs âDid you move my essay, dad?â
His voice called back up âNo darling, I havenât been in your room at all today, apart from when I brought you home, and Cas and Rosie didnât go back upstairs after you leftâ
âOhâ she thought for a moment then shouted back âItâs ok, I must have forgot that I had moved itâ she lied, she always left her pencil on top of her work when she hadnât finished it.
Sebi looked around her room, the window was open a crack and there was a bit of mud on her floor, but that could have come from anyoneâs shoes, even hers. Closing the window and the curtains, she changed into her pyjamas and sat in her bed for a minute, thinking. Was the man just a dream when she had fainted? If he was, then who moved her essay? It was about vampires and the man had fangs, but the vampire descriptions were completely different to what he looked like. She became fidgety, jumped out of bed and put her dressing gown and slippers on. She snuck downstairs and past the living room that her dad was talking on the phone in, and into the immense library. The library was the biggest room in the house, full of old and new books, the far end had a large comfy sofa, where some of Sebiâs best memories were set. There was a large section on occult, magic and more importantly vampires. Sebi ran a finger along the spines of the vampire books, occasionally pulling out a few that she liked the sound of, most were large so they contained lots of information and she ended up only taking four.
After sneaking back upstairs, Sebi placed the pile of books on the end of her bed and grabbed the first. Scrolling through its contents page, she found what she was looking for and flicked to the correct page, How to recognise a vampire.
She read, âVampires have many distinct traits which make them easily recognisable to the trained eye. They can have any colour hair and eyes, but the eyes are usually slightly brighter than normal humans. The main feature of a vampire, however, is its fangs, four on the top row of teeth, and two on the bottom, although the only ones that are to any significance are the canines, the others are simply pointed teeth, they are not elongated. Their other weapons are their claws, long black nails that make lizard like claws, these are extremely difficult to break. Their skin is very pale due to the lack of son, and they have very hand like feet, although these can be hidden by shoes. Ears range from, slightly pointed to long and slender elf like ears. The lips of a vampire will usually be a slightly grey colour and, in some extreme cases, almost black. Vampires may flinch at any sudden noise, even if the noise is extremely quiet, this is a good way to test if someone is a vampire with out being able to see any of the other traits.â
That was it then. The man canât have been a vampire, he didnât have claws, grey lips, pointed ears, bright eyes, and he only had two small fangs. So that meant it had to be a dream, the essay could be explained easily now that she thought about it. She could have left the window open, why it was open now, and the wind blew through and blew the pencil off onto the floor and the paper to the other side of the desk. Simple. She sighed, how stupid she had been, thinking that she had been attacked by a vampire, she laughed out loud to herself and hid the books underneath her bed. With a final smile, she lay down and closed her eyes, a few minutes later, and she had fallen asleep, cuddled into her soft pillow, surrounded by a soft safe duvet and her small collection of cushions.
âSebiâŚwake up babe,â her fatherâs voice said softly, and she opened her eyes to see him sitting on her bed smiling down at her âHave a good sleep?â
âYeaâ she sat up slowly and smiled sleepily back at him âwhat time is it?â
âSix, tea time, your mum came back early today when she heard what happened at school and is making your favouriteâ
Sebi blinked confused âSheâs making take out pizza?â
He laughed, âIn a way, she called ten minutes ago with the order, thatâs as close to cooking as she getsâ he winked and kissed her cheek, âhurry up and get dressed, we bought a film to watch while we eat and if you donât come quick, Cas while get home and eat yoursâ with that he grinned, ruffled her hair and walked out, closing the door quietly behind him.
Sebiâs mother never cooked, she was too famous to cook or clean, as she often said, and she hardly ever saw her kids, so she must have been worried to come back from a big photo shoot.
Just as she was getting dressed, the doorbell rang, so she changed quickly into her white, strapped top and tight, blue jeans, and ran down the stairs, a huge smile on her face as the smell of pepperoni and onion pizza wafted up her noise. Her run to the living room that they watched films in was cut short by her mother, stepping around the corner and hugging her tightly.
âOh, my poor baby, how are you feeling? You didnât hurt yourself did you babes? I was so worriedâ this was typical mum, Sebi could have coughed and got the same treatment, but she was used to it and just smiled and said that she was fine, that the smell of pizza and the sight of her mother made her feel so much better.
The sat and watched, ironically, a vampire film, where the vampires were completely different to the real ones, the only thing that made them stand out from humans was their fangs. Now that she thought of it, these vampires looked like the man in her dream, but she quickly shook the thought out of her head and kept watching the film. It was about a young girl who lived a normal life until she met a vampire, she was turned and tried to beat the curse. The vampire that had turned her kept trying to make her kill, until the girl almost killed her mother when she got cut with the kitchen knife. Her mother stabbed the girl out of terror but the girl just pulled the blade out and ran away. Later on in the film the girl was found lying dead in a gutter, skin burnt through by the sun.
âThat film gave me the creeps,â her mother said as they were clearing up, âthe part where the girl pulled the blade out was disgusting, it showed everything, ughâ she shuddered.
âItâs a good thing we sent Rosie to bed after she had her dinner, otherwise she would be having nightmares for months.â Her father said, washing up the plates as Sebi dried them.
She said nothing, she was thinking again, she hated when she did that, think, it was nothing but trouble, thinking made people scared, it made people hesitate, and now it made Sebi worried. That vampire had small fangs, like the man. As she was thinking about him, she saw something moving outside the window. Her eyes flicked quickly and saw a shape moving across their lawn, pause at a couple of points and then, jump over the fence into their next-door neighbourâs garden. She blinked a few times to make sure her eyes were properly in focus, but they didnât change. Her father looked at her and smiled.
âYour not scared are you babe? Did you see a nasty vampire in our garden?â he laughed and dabbed some soap water on her chin, playfully.
She smiled back âCourse not, Iâm not a little babyâ she scooped a handful of soap bubbled up and covered his chin so it looked like he had a white, holey beard, growing at a strange angle.
* * *
That night Sebi found it hard to sleep, every time she turned over she could swear that she saw shadows moving across her walls, she felt just as afraid as when she looked out the window in the âbogsâ at school. At one point, she thought she saw two green eyes moving very fast towards her, she hid under the covers and squeezed her eyes shut until she felt safe enough to peer out again. There was nothing when she looked around, not even the shadows. She sat awake until twenty three past four in the morning, when the sun shone its first rays of light over the horizon.
It was twelve when she awoke again, with a start, because there was loud motorbike noise coming from outside as her brother headed out to his girlfriends house again, as usual. She crawled out of bed and dressed slowly then trudged down the stairs into the kitchen where a sandwich covered by cling film was waiting for her. There was a small note next to it reading âMum has gone back to the photo shoot and I had to go do some work at one of the hotels, I left you the sandwich, if you need anything call me on my mobile and I will come back as quickly as I can, Love you babe. X X Xâ
She ate the sandwich hungrily and washed her plate. Deciding on an impulse she changed into her swimming gear and went for a calm float in the pool, she had learnt to swim when she was four or five and she was expert at it now, having won many swimming trophies, which were displayed proudly in the upstairs hall along with her brothers boxing trophies, and the small ribbon that Rosie had won in a Little cuteness contest. After a while, she dived under and swam a couple of lengths, waking her muscles up and only occasionally coming up for air. She hated doing normal strokes; swimming underneath the water was her favourite way to swim, kicking legs, arms kept by her sides but occasionally wiggling her hands to push her the right way when she began to veer off her course.
After an hour or so she climbed out and dried herself off, dressed into her normal clothes again, and went back up to her room, to continue writing her English essay, this time using the books she got from the library the previous night to research her facts.
ââŚas though they were 4D. It could even be all three or any mixture, but no human truly knows the answer. I believe that humans get transformed by a vampire, but they could be changed many ways. Being bitten, blood transfusion, drinking a vampireâs blood, or maybe there is a poison in a vampireâs bite that swarms into the body and causes it to change.â She stopped writing, and thought, âwhy am I writing this when it terrifies me?â she put down her pencil and rested her chin on her hands. Now she really had no idea what she was going to do.
The rest of the day, she spent on the computer, in chat rooms, or listening to music on her radio. Bored out of her skull she read the vampire books for most of the day, becoming engrossed in them, she found a picture of one of the real vampires. It was just as the book had described. This one was chained up and wore only skimpy clothes to hide her personal parts but showed the rest of her body. The feet were like hands, without thumbs, five long finger like toes, stuck out from the foot, with claws much like the ones on her hand. She stood on them so that the bottom of her feet didnât touch the ground, like a human just standing on their toes. Sebi looked at her face, it was mostly covered by her light brown hair but she could see that she had strangely bright blue eyes and very small pupils, that was something the book hadnât mentioned, or it could have just been because of the camera flash. Sebi blinked and thought that, when her eyes were closed, she could see the man from before and when she re-opened them, she slammed the book shut and threw it, along with the others back under her bed.
There was a noise from outside, her brotherâs motorbike, going slower than usual, meaning that he had brought Rosie back with him. He didnât seem to care very much about his two little sisters but in truth he cared almost as much as his parents, he just had to act tough so he teased them every now and then, but when he brought one of them home, he would go carefully on his bike.
She ran down the stairs to greet them just as they came through the door, Rosie had a huge smile on her face âI won! I get to look after Tibby for the weekendâ she held up a small cage to Sebi showing a small white mouse nibbling at its chew stick, happily, as though it was glad to have been brought home by motorbike!
âCongrats Rosieâ Sebi smiled and wriggled a finger next to the cage at the mouse, who came over and sniffed curiously.
âJust keep that rat out of my room, pipsqueakâ Caspian said, throwing his helmet aside into the shoe cupboard, and running up to his room.
Yes it is long XD, so what do you think?

I made another chapter
Chapter two
Saturday, Sebiâs dad was back and she had slept the previous night peacefully, without any strange, vampiric disturbances. It was after tea, Rosie was in bed and Cas was at an all night party. It was just Sebi and her father, but she was tired, so she kissed him goodnight and went upstairs to bed. Getting into her bed she switched the light off and turned over for a good nights sleep, but that was far from what she was about to experience. She slept for an hour or so, then, there was a loud noise. She sat bolt upright and looked around her seemingly empty room. She was about to turn over and go back to sleep when the noise, like nails down a black board, came loud and clear, causing her to cover her ears and wince. When she re-opened her eyes, she saw him, sitting on the end of her bed, green eyes glinting, wide, fanged smile, and a strange aura that she hadnât noticed on Thursday. He stood and edged towards her grinning, again she tried to scream but he covered her mouth.
âI can smell your blood a mile offâ he sniffed fondly at her neck âType A, such a lovely, exquisite blood type. I couldnât resist, and you seem so interested in vampires,â he pointed at the essay and under the bed where the vampire books lay âI thought I could do you a favour, while my sister is away, anywayâ he licked her neck, then bit down hard, through her skin, and began to suck her precious blood. He didnât take much, only a couple of sips, but he reeled back, smiling. He suddenly opened up his own veins on his wrist, and grabbed Sebiâs cup from her bedside table. He let his wrist bleed until the cup was an eighth full, then took his other hand away from her mouth and poured it down her throat. When she realised what was happening, Sebi screamed, loud, high pitched, and long, it carried all through the house and outside, waking even her neighbours. The man swore and quickly bandaged his wrist then leapt out of the window, into the panicked street below.
Sebi wiped her mouth and spat onto the floor to try to get rid of all the blood, she cleaned her cut, quickly, not wanting her father to know she had been attacked by a vampire. He barged in a few seconds after she had cleaned all the blood away, flicked the light on and raised the baseball bat in his hands. When he saw Sebi on her own he lowered it and ran over to her, Cas and Rosie appearing in the doorway, with equally terrified looks on their faces.
âSebi? Are you ok? What happened? Did someone come through your window?â he looked up, saw the window open, and looked back at her for clarification.
For a few seconds she stayed silent then in a croaky voice she said, âthis guy came in when I was sleeping. He was threatening me with a knife, he said he wanted me to help him steal some stuff because he wasnât betting on me being awake,â she lied convincingly, as the shock of what truly happened seeped through her eyes in the form of tears.
Her father drew her in and hugged her tightly, Cas and Rosie edged over and joined the hug, their father said, âits ok baby, heâs gone now, youâll be ok, he didnât hurt you and he wonât ever come back. I should have been paying more attention, I didnât even hear anyone come in,â his fingers found the cut on her neck and he stopped talking, he drew back and looked at his fingers, they were covered in blood. Her blood. Quickly he turned her head side ways, but not harshly, so he didnât hurt her, and saw the cut, but didnât think for a second that it was a vampire that had made the rough incision. âMy baby!â he grabbed a tissue and began to dab at the cut, âweâll get the police, and they will find that mad man, when they do Iâm going to get him, nobody hurts any of my babyâs, not even the tiniest of cuts or bruises, weâll find him and he will pay!â he said with un-characteristic hate in his voice.
Sebi stared at him uncertainly until he brought her closer again and hugged her tightly. She was stiff and tears made his shirt damp so she pulled away, wiped her eyes and smiled at her father, âI know, lets just get the police for now, dad, and you can deal with him later,â she coughed, and rubbed her cut.
Meanwhile, Cas ran down the stairs and dialled for the police, only a couple of minutes later they arrived, they were very close to a police station, one of the many reasons that they decided to move to this particular house. They banged on the door and Cas and Rosie answered and took the police officers up to Sebiâs room.
A few more minutes later they were questioning her, what did he look like? What did he attack you with? What did he want? And other questions similar to these. Sebi answered that he was pale with black hair and green eyes, didnât mention the fangs, he attacked her with a kitchen knife, and he said that he wanted to steal some things without her going to tell anybody, but to help him. They didnât leave straight away; in fact, they stayed a couple more hours, sitting at the breakfast table with cups of tea and coffee, with the family crowding around them. They talked mostly to her father and Cas, but they occasionally talked to her and the oldest was very fond of Rosie, saying that she was the sweetest thing he had ever seen. Eventually they left, when it was about three in the morning, and the commotion outside died down as the street went back to bed.
Sebi slept in her fatherâs bed that night, although he respected her space, simply because he wanted to be able to look after her. Rosie didnât want to sleep on her own, so she was cuddled up to their father on one side of the bed, Sebi on the other, wide-awake staring at the ceiling. She had been attacked by a vampire, what she believed was a vampire. She had been bitten and made to drink his blood. She shook her head and turned over to lie on her side, closing her eyes; she tried to sleep, but only managed it just before the sun came over the horizon.
Eight, twenty-four. Sebi woke up to the smell of freshly cooked pancakes, and smiled, the previous night forgotten by the promise of her fatherâs expert cooking. She made her way down in her pyjamas and slippers, not bothering to get dressed and sat at the table piled high in the delicious food.
âGood morning my little pumpkinâ her father sang, tossing a pancake from the frying pan into the other, showing off like any other morning, although this time it seemed a little clumsy. He wasnât thinking straight, he almost missed the pan, the second toss, a sign that there was something wrong with him. Sebi could see his worry lines, his tired eyes, showing that he had been awake probably all night. He was shaky and yawned a lot, he also smelt, but Sebi wasnât about to mention it considering the circumstances. He saw her staring at her and smiled his all-knowing smile, then turned back to his cooking with out saying a word.
Rosie appeared from around the corner, holding a plate with the remnants of her breakfast. She smiled sweetly at Sebi, put down her plate and gave her a great big, sticky hug. âGood morning Sebi!â her smile widened, as she looked up at her âdaddy makes the best pancakes in the worldâ she skipped off and put her plate on the side board, gave one last smile then skipped back off, upstairs.

The day passed slowly after breakfast, Sebi spent most of it trying to relax in the pool, but whenever she stopped swimming and floated her mind wandered to certain, unwanted thoughts. At about five her mother arrived, having been in New York it took her a long time to get back, and almost squeezed Sebi to death, saying, âfirst fainting in the school toilets , now being attacked in the middle of the night, life is rough on you, my little, precious baby.â Sebi had to tell her that she was ok every few minutes, that she had only gotten a minor scratch, but that didnât calm her down one bit, she was almost as protective as her father was.
When it was finally bedtime, she was allowed to sleep on her own but her father insisted in putting a baby monitor in the room so that if she was attacked again they could find out faster. After being fussed over for half an hour, Sebi was able to go to bed and finally get some, well deserved sleep. But she didnât get much of that. Her dreams were invaded by nightmares, her turning into a horrible monster, attacking her family while they slept, standing with the man, looking down at her half dead family and laughing along with him at their pain. She awoke many times that night, each time covered in sweat and shaking as though there was a force ten earthquake happening just below her bed. The fourth time she woke, at half five in the morning, she decided that there was no way she could get to sleep again that night. Turning on the light she blinked a few times and stretched, she grabbed her Ipod and lay on her bed, listening to calming music, she had it turned up so loud, however, that she didnât hear the noise out side.
âSister how nice to see you once more, I didnât know when you were coming back, I had hoped not at allâ the man murmured, just outside Sebiâs window, he was standing, back against the wall talking to a girl, a few years older than him, with black hair and green eyes that matched his.
The girl lifted him by his throat and slammed him against the wall, she had black claws âYou will not speak to me like that, dirty piece of scum. I know what happened last night, I knew you were a madman, but I never thought that you were quite this insane. To blood a child is unthinkable.â
âIâm not the only one, plenty of other vampires have blooded children, and they were not treated, as you so put it, âdirty pieces of scumâ. I have a right to blood who I wish.â
âMales should not blood anyway. You couldnât possibly help her to become a true vampire, that needs a real vampire, you do not hold the correct genes, no males do, and it is punishable to blood a child if you are incapable of looking after them properly!â she pushed him harder into the wall, causing it to dent slightly.
He smiled âUsing your strength and ferocity to get your own way as usual I see Lia, I should not have expected betterâ he winced as she shoved him further into the wall âthatâs what makes us different, I actually use my brains, you see I could have looked after her. She already knows a lot about vampires, for a human, all I had to do was give her a little push then leave.â
âFool. The law clearly states that you have to be with them at least ten years, you will be punishedâ she drew a claw out and made a deep gouge into his left arm. âThe sign of a traitor, I believe that it is appropriateâ she threw him aside ânow go! If I ever find you here again, you will pay with your life, by all the vampires I promise!â she spat at the ground where he lay.
He smirked âfine, that means that she is your business to deal with from now onâ he got up and ran from the house, jumping over the nearest fence and then, was gone.
The girl cursed and looked up and the lit window. With great ease and stealth, she dug her claws into the solid brick and climbed up to peer over the window ledge into the room, where Sebi was listening to her music and reading a book, unaware that two vampires had just had a fight outside her window. The girl coughed slightly, then annoyed, rapped on the window lightly. Sebi still hadnât noticed. Pausing, the girl placed her claws beneath the window and lifted it slowly, and stepped in.
Sebi looked up briefly and had to do a double take to see if she had actually seen someone, she let out a short scream and fell of the other side of the bed; her headphones flew out of her ears and across to the door. Scrambling to her feet she stared, confused, at the randomly appearing girl. She was about to scream when suddenly the girls claws, were clamped over her mouth.
âI do not want you to scream, but I will not force you to do anything against your will.â She said calmly âI am going to let you go now, but please, I need you to stay and listen carefullyâ slowly she let go and backed away so that she was behind the bed, with her hands in the air to show that she wouldnât do anything.
It took a while for Sebi to get her voice back, but eventually she croaked out âwho are you?â
