Hey everyone ^_^ i didn't see a thread for this- i hope its in the right area.

I just wanted to see what fanfictions people recommeneded- others can talk about it.

I wanted to recommend a death note fan fic- called Unbreakable. it just started but it seems to go in a promising direction. kinda long but really good so far.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4160227/1/Unbreakable

you don't necessarily have to talk about death note fan fics, any are fine this is just mine ^_^

Eh, I've never actually liked fanfics myself ^^; *generally avoids reading them* But if it has enough depth and meaning and character accuracy and such then I probably could be persuaded >.>

It is very difficult to find good fanfiction, and in general I find it is not worth wading through all the horrible stories to find a semi-decent one. I personally do write fanfics occasionally.

I only read stuff by some certain writers occasionally, but they've stopped updating, the latest would be 2006 but one of the writers has stopped around 2004. Other than those few writers' stories, I generally avoid reading fanfics because they're kind of...uh...well, not so good. Some have creative ideas though, they just don't write them out too good. Actually, there was this one time I read this fanfic that is SUPER bad, as in the person just CANNOT spell the word "you" and such things like that to the point where it was in fact, hilarious.

@anna_the_idiot and @ Nate: you guys said you liked Yoai fan fics. DeathNote aside i don't know of any good pairings i would pick so i've never read a fanfic. Any good ones you know of and say what anime- because even though i'm not opposed to yaoi-ness in any way there are some characters that i don't support being yaoi. Oh! but i thought of one just now lol- i like the idea of Kuro/Fai from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles so if you've seen any good ones.

oh and nate- totally post it! put the link in this thread even- get a little feedback. or just pm me the link ^_^

I don't know about anything else, but if you're a fan of Cardcaptor Sakura, this is required reading:

And yes. Those are over 50 chapters of pure awesome.

  • I dislike fanfiction, actually. Authors tend to bend characters until they're completely OOC, which is something I can't stand.

Basically, if it has romance (ESPECIALLY if that romance involves a slash pairing (fan-made)), a major OC, a completely AU plot, OOC canon characters, and bad grammar, I won't touch it.

@fiarra: OMG i started the CCS fic you recommended- I've only read a the first two chapters but I already know I love it ^_^ All my big fandoms fanfics are long anyway so length doesn't bother me in the slightest- more to love

@iAlkemy: Yeah i understand not liking fanfiction for that reason. But if your like me and my friends then sometimes its worth it to hunt through all the crap to find on fan fic that supports secondary characters that you love. Bad grammer though, I know my typing/grammer skills are poor, but I can't stand when people post things and even I catch mistakes- because then it's bad ^_^ lol

I'm glad that you're liking the fic!! I've been reading it for years and it's hands-down my favorite fic over all my fandoms. It spans so much time and has so much natural growth, all while keeping everyone in character.

I write fanfic's myself and it is not easy to get someone to enjoy it. It takes time and a whole lot of research to make the story interesting right out of the bat. Trust me I had people who liked my story and people who hated it.

It seems that usually people love or hate fan fics not really a gray area.

What's funny is that people have different tastes of story devices and views on character's personalities, so not every fan fiction is going to be good for you.

@cheya: Yeah that's true. You have to shift to find things that you agree with.

I think sometimes the best fanfics are with characters who are minor so you don't have too many restrictions to make the story entertaining. I absolutely love
A look to the Left

because its characters you kind of know in a universe you love (Katie Bell and Oliver Wood from Harry Potter) it makes it pretty great (admittedly it is a but Au because the author wrote it before book 7 so obviosuly some discrepincies)

I am a fanfiction writer myself, and I HATE bad stories and grammer and to much drama going on every three sentences. I REALLY HATE the smut fics were they go something like this ok, I don't write like this I swear but I see this all the time and it drives me bananas!!!

They looked into each others eyes, lust blazing. "I want you."
"So do I " and then the lamest Lemon scene ever! No point,no build up, no plot. No nothing! I am ok with PWP as long as they are well written.

Now if you like Kingdom hearts akuroku then I am the guy to talk to. And Harry Potter or Gundam wing yaoi.

Most fanfiction that I stumble across now is pretty bad or unfinished or just plain stupid. I hate that I have to search high and low for a somewhat original plot and good writing skills. The really good ones are worth it though, few and far between but worth it.
PWP urks the hell out of me. I mean really, like really? wow I'm embarassed for you that you couldn't throw in the slightest twist or anything. -_-

Tales from the House of the Moon! That is SUCH a good fic! It's well written and deep~~ and long. Verrrrry long :P I haven't even finished myself :P
Anyways, it's a SessxKag (inuyasha) story, so you really have to like the pairing xd

*personally a fanfic addict*
Anyways, I could recommend a lot BUT they'd all be kingdom hearts.
And yaoi.
Sadly D: There's no good KH yuri fics out there that I know of. =x
