Over the last couple days I've watched Loveless and Gravitation, and I'm wondering if anyone here knows of any good short animes they could suggest to me to watch? I've watched a good deal of twenty episodes or more animes, and now I'm looking for shorter animes.

So please don't suggest things like Death Note and say that it's only thirty-six episodes. I'm already planning on watching it, I just don't feel like watching it right now.

Things under twenty episodes, not slightly over twenty.

Things like Sukisyo, Loveless, Gravitation, FLCL, etc. I'm already planning on watching Paranoia Agent, but I'm waiting to watch it so I can watch it with my boyfriend.

I like shonen-ai and yaoi, but only yaoi if it's light and there aren't any super detailed sex scenes. I feel they really don't contribute much, and I'm in it more for the warm and fuzziness, and for the storyline.

So, does anyone know any animes that are under twenty episodes that they'd like to recommend to me to watch? They don't have to be shonen-ai. I also like shojou-ai. But shonen-ai and het are my preferences. ^^;

If you suggest something to me, please give me your reasons for suggesting it, other than, "It's cool," or something like that. I'd like to know a little about the anime, please.

My current 'to watch' list:
Paranoia Agent
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei
Gokusen
Kodomo no Jikan
Tenchi Muyo!
He is my Master
Kannazuki no Miko
Shattered Angels
Magical Nyan Nyan Taruto
Ai Yori Aoshi

I know about a lot of anime, but I don't know if they're Americanized. I don't know what you prefer really...

But! Here's some that I've watched:
Kage Kare Mamoru. It's not Shonen-ai, but it's really cute. (I'm not 100% sure you'll like it, but I listed it anyway.)
Princess, Princess. I don't recall how long it is, but I don't remember it being too long.
Descendants of Darkness. It's a really good one. <3 It's one of my personal favorites. The characters are really strong in my opinion. I think you'll like this one.

I'm not much of an anime person anymore. I'm more into manga now, so...I don't know how much help I can be. n_n

Are those twenty episodes or less? I honestly would prefer to find the dub of Paranoia Agent but I've been having trouble tracking it down. I watched a couple episodes of the dub on Adult Swim ages ago, but never saw the whole thing, I don't think.

I can only find episode seven in English online so far.

Dubs are okay, I like them for the fact that I can pay more attention to what's on screen then having to read something and miss details and have to go back and pause in order to read it. But I also know that dubs leave a lot out, and in the cases of some of the best animes, they even delete content.

I love both anime and manga. But my anime collection is much bigger than my manga collection. I only have one complete manga series and that's Death Note. And I don't have the special edition 13th volume.

For the most part I think they're short. I know for a fact that Dependants of Darkness is short, cause I just watched again for like the thousandth time. I can double check all the others though.

I don't know how I would be able to find Paranoia Agent in English though. I'll try if you'd like some help.

No, that's okay. I'll dig it up on my own or I'll just watch the subbed.

OK, well I have a fairly long list of shorter series that I've watched and enjoyed. So I'll try to give you a little info about each. :)

Genshiken - 12 eps
The first season is actually 12 eps, there's a 3 ep ova and 12 ep second season. But the first is a good start. It follows a college anime/otaku club in sort a slice-of-life series. Definitely a little perverted, but really funny, especially if you've been an anime fan for a while.

Pretear - 13 eps
A almost-retelling of Snow White and Cinderella, with a magical girl spin. There's 2 stepsisters, 7 knights to protect the main character while she tries to purify the world around here that is rapidly being corrupted by some dark force. It sounds really cheesy, but it's actually quite good.

Read or Die OVA - 3 eps
Yomiko Readman is Agent Paper from a branch of the British Library. She can control paper telekinetically and she's on a mission to retreive a book that some evil person wants to use as the key to unlocking a death chant. Short and sweet and some awesome action with her paper powers.

Elfen Lied - 13 eps
A human evolution/mutation known as the diclonious has been created, but fear of their powers has led the scientists to try and quarantine them. Too bad one of them has escaped by killing just about everyone. Luckily she has amnesia and can't remember doing it, so she ends up living with a pair of cousins. This series starts a little violent, but it goes into some awesome backstory and interactions between characters.

Pet Shop of Horrors - 4 eps
Count D is mysterious man who owns a pet shop where people can come to obtain unique and strange pets. But they all come with a catch or requirement that the new owner must stick to, with dire consequences otherwise. This one is based on a 10 volume manga so it's not exactly fleshed out in comparison, but it's another sort of "look at human nature" sort of series.

Iria - 6 eps
Sci-fi bounty hunter series. Iria's brother was killed by Zeiram and now the government wants to use this life-form as a weapon. So now she's out to try and avenge her brother. Very action filled, but it doesn't drag it out too long which is nice.

Shinigami no Ballad - 6 eps
Not very action-filled and non-linear plot. Momo is the white god of death. Basically just follows six stories where Momo is called upon to do what she does. In case you didn't notice, I'm a fan of slice-of-life, looks at human nature, sorts of shows.

Rozen Maiden - 12 eps
Jun is a middle-school dropout who is obssessed with ordering "supernatural items" from the internet. One day he receives a doll, but she's not fake. She is one of the Rose Maidens and much compete with other dolls in the Rose Game. If you're familiar with the "desu" meme, then you know one of the dolls already. Very magic based and surprisingly not that girly for a show about dolls that fight with magic. xD

Haibane Renmei - 13 eps
This is quite possibly the quietest and most heartwarming story ever. There is a small group of winged people who live near a village in a walled city. Rakka is born there with no memories of her past life. So the story follows her as she learns about her new life and surroundings. Not for the people who want action.

I, My, Me! Strawberry Eggs - 13 eps
The main character is a guy who wants to be a teacher, but the only school hiring is one that only hires female teachers. So with the help of his landlady (who has a grudge against the headmistress), he disguises himself as a female and gets a job. He manages to turn the school upside-down while becoming totally smitten with one female student (who is very confused by her responding feelings seeing as he looks female). A really wacky series but seriously cute at the same time.

Jubei-chan - 13 eps
An ordinary school-girl is found by the disciple of the legendary Jubei (the swordsman) and granted his powers. By putting on the Lovely Eyepatch, she transforms into a version of him and is charged with fighting the opponents of the Jubei school. All while dealing with moving and going to a new high school. This series is seriously amusing and I highly recommend it!

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
This is NOT a feel-good series, so if you watch it, be ready. Follows a group of friends and their grand deception. It's based on an h-game too. There is a love triangle, and massive tragedy and a lot of people coping with the results of that tragedy. Seriously depressing, but so good...

Hope that helped. <3

I few I suggest trying are Fullmetal Alchemist, Chrono Crusade, Jing King of Bandits, and Inuyasha. :3 They were all very well put together (from what I've seen; I haven't seen all of Inuyasha yet) and the story lines were enjoyable.

Ahh Loveless <3 Annywhoo~

I suggest Kure-nai it's a very endearing anime, and I loved it to bits.

It's twelve episodes long, although it's only available with english subtitles as it finished airing in Japan in June~

And also Saint Beast: Kouin Jojishi Tenshi Tan, it's more of a fantasy/angel genre, but has light shounen-ai in it also, and pretty men. x) (Thirteen episodes)

There is also a first series (6 eps) Saint Beast ~Seijuu Kourin Hen~, though with poor animation so I never watched it ^^; and 2 OVA's.

Spice and Wolf is also very good, and has 13 episodes I think.

under 20 episodes.... thasts quite challenging.
alot of series are actually 26 episodes.there are however quite alot of anime movies which are also worth wasting your time

the smallest series that is a must see: FLCL
other series; Lain, Hellsing
for me to explain it, i cannot.
you have to watch it yourself to have an opion on it.

You gotta love Oh!Great's creations (Air Gear, Tenjo Tenge) - the animation kicks arses but the story sux. I only watch them for the action sequences so if you want mindless entertainment, I suggest those 2.

As for serious watching, try OVA's. There isn't much good series lately. IMHO.

Soul Hunter/Hoshin Engi is a good one. I really like Fullmetal Alchemist the movie. If you understand the basic outline of the plot, you don't need to watch the anime to get it. =3 Just know your history of the World Wars! ;D

Sounds like you'd like Honey and Clover, then. It's a beautiful, heartfelt anime about life in an art college. Not a shoujo - just a very well done slice of life. There are two seasons, and each one is 13 episodes or less, I think.
