Oh wow, I've not seen Shelfari before. I may never close that window ... I still have a big list of the books I read of 2008, that's a good start.
I was going to start a new reading challenge that was a challenge but I still haven't thought of one that was good enough. I was *going* to try to read sixty romances for 2009, since Harlequin was having an anniversary, and I admire the genre for it's bluntness, but I think it would drive me crazy. Plus, sixty would be a terrible waste of time. Six, maybe but not sixty.
Till then, I guess I'll just hang out.
Maybe biographies or something, but I just read too much to make regular reading a challenge. I've looked into different reading lists, nothing grabs me as a gimmick.

Yikes, that's creepy!
I was reading the host, and I stopped reading at a somewhat disturbing part. I leave to turn off the light, and then come back, and the cover is totally staring at me. If you've seen the cover, you'll understand what I mean. Big eye staring right back at me, with the glowing silver ring. I actually had to turn it over XD

My dad fixed my lamp thankfully, mainly due to the fact that I always read in bed and would have bitched ALL day long for him to fix it so he went ahead and got it done quickly. I refused to be all freaked out when it happened because they did talk about flickering lightning and bulbs dying as well and it was kind of..expected, not openly but I did have the thought 'well would be freaky if that happened now' and it did. (Honestly though I use my cat to make sure everything's safe since pet's see the unseeable and she was all relaxed as she went to sleep on my pillow after it happened.
And I just ordered The Host^^ Can't wait to begin reading that book, heard so much good about it and I did read the summary, very interesting plot! And talking about creepy books and my cat. I have one of those "Horrible Histories" books which I love to read. My cat was sitting in front of it, watching as I turned the pages and there were to star charts, two big huge black 'holes' with tiny stars on them. When my cat saw them she was so startled she scampered backwards and fell of the bed o.O I have no clue what she thought it was other than 2 black circles in a book o.o;

Eww creepy. xD
I prefer to read in complete silence - because I like to stop and let my imagination run a muck in the authors world for a few minutes and if there was music I just wouldn't come back - so creepy things are bound to happen.
Last night while I was starting The Laughing Corpse, of course it was a part where there a zombie things crawling out of cemented doors, there was scratching noises coming from inside my wall. ::shivers:: I know its probably mice but I freaked and woke the entire house up. Of course by then the noise stopped and I'm labeled insane. U_U
By the way I finished The Laughing Corpse. How i did it with a job interview, cleaning the house, and all before 3 is beyond me. xD
Edit: Ehnvy you mentioned using your cat as test, so I just went looking for mine. She's standing by the wall where I herd the noise, sniffing and trying to climb up the wall. Point for me there really is something in the wall. xD
Is that good or bad? >>;

Pet's are very sensitive, they can forsee earthquakes, something even we with our advanced technology cannot. I do believe they can feel some sort of entity if it's around. When my uncle died my aunts cat would always sit facing a corner of the bedroom until my uncle was burried and looking up, as if she was gazing at a tall person's face.
I personally believe if you heard something or had something freaky happen you cannot seem to logically explain and your pet is also nervous/anxious then it's time to panic (or try not to) because you definitely weren't imagening things then, your pet heard/saw/smelled/felt it, too.
One can discuss about this, I'm sure many believe the opposite of what I do but pet's have proven time and time again that there's more to them than the eye see's.

It was almost three in the morning, which has to be the quietest time of the night, and all of a sudden there's scurrying and scratching noises. I think one of them fell too, I heard a flop. The noises went on and off all night so I started talking to the wall, telling what ever was in it that it wasn't being stealthy... Maybe I'm a little insane anyway. xD
@Ehnvy: I'm right there with you, my animals start acting weird I bogey on out. My dog's excellent at sensing stuff, storms are her specialty, at least two days before a bad storm we know. (Call me crazy but she did stop me from getting him by a car, and attacked by a bear, and walking out on thin ice.)

I've always, always wanted a cat, but mom doesn't like animals.

Tireth: Thanks for the shelfari add! I can only remember the books that I own and ones I've gotten from the library recently. And then I can't remember them too well. I need to take a picture of myself for my profile too. Gah.
+ Your copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is purdy. Puts my oldest book (a 1920's book of Edgar Allen Poe short stories) to shame.
Paranormal discussion: My cat is rubbish at predicting stuff. She probably knows and just lets it happen anyway. I'll find her jumping up at the wall and when I look closer she's juts trying to eat a spider. XD
Edit: Shelfari has taught me some translations of books have amazing names. The Spanish edition of 'Popular Music (from Vittula)' is called 'Un Rock'n'roll En El Artico'. Woop.

@Plat: I couldn't live without animals. thankfully it runs in my family. My grandpa was in that paper when he was five because he found and raised some baby squirrels. He hasn't stopped bringing animals home since. xD Who else had a baby black bear for a pet? (How am I not dead?)
@Kat: Normally the only thing my cat is good for is keeping my books warm. Aka sleeping on them, but for once she pulled through me. xD

@Dream_and_Die: That sounds like you got rat's in your walls, my friend had that problem and it sounds exactly how you described it. I'd definitely have that one checked out, rats are far far scary than a ghost in the wall (and much more disgusting!) And I'd never call you crazy. I have both a dog and a cat and when one acts weird the other picks up on it quickly and it gets me antsy each time.
@Platinum: Awh, I've wanted a cat since I was seven and finally got one when I was 19 xD I used to get all kinds of cat related gifts BUT a real cat (We had a dog back then that didn't like cats).

Haha! I only like very small dogs. Big ones scare me because I'm relatively short for my age, and when I was younger, a dog chased me and tried to bite me, but got caught up in my clothes instead.
I've always like cats more either way, but now it's like.. even more of a reason lo not like large dogs DX;

My old cat was like that too. We used to joke that she did "drive-by clawings" to our half lab half rott mix by hiding under the table, pouncing on the dog and then running away. I loved my cat. She was so crazy.

@Ehnvy: Eww Rats. Gross I don't want rats in my house. I never know if my cats in sensing stuff or not because she'll be sitting on the floor and randomly flip out do a somersault in the air and bolt to the other side of the house. Then she looks at me like 'What?' She attacks my dog sometimes too. Then my dog just picks her up and she has a fit.
@Feyona: This was back when I was living in the mountains. He just came home with it one day. He named it Cinders and it was cute and fun and we let it go once it got big. Though I did see Cinders a little over a year ago... She got big and I don't know if she remembered me and was playing or decided I looked like lunch but I high-tailed it into a house. X_X I have a German Shepherd!
@Platinum: I need big dogs. Anything smaller then I'd say a large Shiba isn't a dog to me. Well I would settle for a large Shar-pei, but I like being smaller then my dog or at least only a little bigger. I should be afraid of them because I've been attacked by a lot of strays as a kid, yet I play with my dog like a dog. I have a photographic proof of my dog dragging me around by my neck when I was a kid. xD

German Shepherds are amazing I don't think I could own another breed anymore, meaning next dogs have to be at least half gs. Though they are almost too smart. xD You just have to keep training them otherwise they get bored. At 12 mine's still learning new stuff, recently I've taught her voice pitch recognition. Like two actions for the word 'attack,' if I say it high she runs around the other person playing, if I say it low she knows hackles go up and wait till I say get him. xD My boyfriend doesn't try to tickle me anymore. :angel:

@guivre - i shudder to think of reading sixty romance novels. x3
you should totally go for the discworld novels. XD
there's like 36 or something.
@platy - the host cover is creepy, no mater what lighting you have.
awww, you just need to find a friendly big dog. my aunt used to have a giant english sheep dog and we used to ride him like a horse. (this was over a decade ago, of course)
and dani has a german shepherd who follows everyone everywhere. :3
@ehnvy - i hardly ever use my lamps, mostly day light (i have two windows in the corner of my room) or the overhead light at night, though that's pretty crap. one of the two bulbs has been burned out for a while and the globe is filthy D:
... KITTY. meow. :3
@dani - you are a freak. i think you read faster than sara. READING CONTEST GO!
sandykitty~~~
omg. A BEAR? i guess it's a good thing you have pets because you are a disaster waiting to happen. XD
... remind me not to hugsquish you. D:
@entire pet conversation - our cats are all pretty useless. the oldest (he is my age, actually) just sleeps all the time. my cat, the girl tuxedo, is a fluffy butt and completely insane. she freaks out for no reason at all. and the last one is actually pretty normal. i hope i can rely on him for stuff. @[email protected]
@kat - shelfari friends~ yay!
i have the same problem. i can only remember things that are in front of me. so if i disappear for a while, i've accidentally closed all my tabs of mene. XD
i know, i don't even know where i got it (probably in the packs of books grandparents have shuffled onto me) shelfari was a bitch because a lot of my books are so old they don't have isbns (70s and older, mostly)
@feyona - haven't played it, what platform is it on?
ps.
i got 4 discworld books today!!
i had gotten the trade paper of color of magic and another book online (the other had the wrong version for the image, and i wanted that particular one) so i went to work and got the color of magic, the light fantastic, equal rites, and the fifth element. (#s 1, 2, 3, and 24. XDDD) i just had to get the fifth elephant because one of the themes is the fifth element, one of my favourite movies. i do intend to get all of the discworld novels, though. :] (and, of course, they'll manage to take a whole shelf on my bookcases. D: )

@Platinum: Yup neck, next picture would show me tackling her. xD She still grabs me by the neck sometimes when we're playing in the snow. It's like wrestleing with a sibling who has you in a headlock. At least Harley lets go when I tap out. (Literally two palms flat down, two taps on the ground and she's off.)
@Leenie: Yes please I want the books from the UK.
Harley just likes people, thus she follows. xD She was chilling in the front yard today. (She got the gate open, again.) The mail man was freaked because for 6 years he's heard her barks, which sound deadly, and there she is sitting in the yard not doing anything. She gave a small woof saying there was someone there then she went back to the backyard. xD
