Well, I overuse my right hand so much it hurts a lot sometimes. >_<; It's why I'd rather not draw as much as I used to. ^^; Lately my hand's been aching from using chopsticks.

*feels so old* T_T

  • Anyone else feel discriminated against here, or just ignored/forgotten?

Disciminated against for being left-handed? I wouldn't say it's purposeful - there are just more naturally right-handed people in the universe, so things tend to be made for the ease of use of those people.

I'm right-handed, but I use my left hand for some artistic endeavours - I paint with both hands and would say I have equal skill with both (which is quite likely nothing at all, depending on one's views on art).

I don't think lefties should feel ignored or discriminated against.
If anything, you're lucky.
They have college scholarships for left-handed people!

  • And for the awkwardness of anyone who isn't them.
Seriously though, either companies should start making left-handed products, more available, or left-handedness should become considered a physical handicap.

@Crinkled: Well everytime I realize I'm having a hard time using something because it was made for someone else, I'd say I feel pretty ignored and discriminated against :/.
There are college scholarships for everything.
I do feel special, but apparently in order to feel special I've got to suffer using things that aren't made for me to use :?.

I'm a southpaw too! I just had an amusing conversation with my coworkers about it, they were teasing me about my "handicap". I made a joke about "we're the only ones in our right minds" but messed it up, which created more hilarity about the "handicap."

I remember my friend tried to teach me to fence, but it didn't work very well as he was right handed. Standing point to point doesn't work well in learning the proper positions, as it would if we'd been offset.

Hm. I can see your point, but I don't know that I'd feel the need to fight for handicap status, if you know what I mean. He was a dork who couldn't have taught me much no matter which hand anyone was using, and I do well enough in a right-handed world.

My brother has a more severe handicap, so...I guess I don't see it as much of one, in comparison. ^_^

I had a subscription to a magazine written for and about left handed people. There were fascinating ads in there for all sorts of left handed items. It might be tough to find them, but they're out there!

My biggest gripe is trying to use "normal" scissors. When holding them in the left hand, the pressure generated presses the blades apart, not together. It's irritating to try to cut something with dull scissors.

  • Just about everything not made for me is inconveniencing.
    And well...
Me being a mighty stubborn person, I take issue with this.
Because the reason it isn't made for me is because I'm in the minority.
And not a tiny minority, either. Roughly ten percent of the population. With about .01% (that's a guess) of the products, and the prices of the products are higher...

I used to be ambidextrous(sp) but my teachers forced me to use my right hand. D: It would've been awesome to write with both if it were still possible for me.

  • That's so gross and disgusting.
If people would make products that were easily accessible and usable for lefties it woudl be nice.
If I ever have a lot of money I'm getting as many things custom made for lefties as I can and I'm going to see how righties like my house D<.

Definitely a right hander, but I really adore people who are lefties. ^^

Its just so cool that you're a leftie. o_o Just something neat about it that I can't really describe haha.

My brother tried to train himself to be ambidextrous but he couldn't quite do it. It was amusing to see him try though! He got pretty good at it.

I'm right handed. A girl I know said it was possible to teach yourself to use both hands, so I'm trying to do that right now. :)

  • :x .

I'm better at righting backwards than I am at writing with my right hand. Writing backwards is just like a right-handed person writing with their right hand, I don't think it should be such a weird thing, haha.

I'm right handed.~ How boring.~

When I was little I had this toy.

Mr. Bubble. xD
Anyway, I wanted him to be special so I made him left-handed, a vegitarian, and lactose intoerant.
The End.
Excuse any spelling errors please. ;-;

  • Cool, lol.
To me, being left-handed isn't just a novelty, it's something I feel should be more accepted and provided for than it is in today's world. The catch is that people think they're accepting of it, but they aren't, so it's even harder to get things to change.

I was supposed to be left handed. But, my mom forced me to be right handed when I was little. I believe that's why I have such bad hand writing now.
