This is the prologue. I'll post more if I get comments.
"Please, Miss Pearson, pay attention!" A clipped voice, an annoyed voice. It snaps into the air like a whip, as strict as the teacher that is speaking it. It is prompting a short girl with green hair to look up. She seems confused.
"I...I was listening. Honest." She says, trying to look like she means it. Her brown eyes, though, betray her, sparkling with imagination. The teacher shakes her head, but continues speaking.
"Remember, we are visiting the island for learning purposes only. If I see any of you playing games, I will have you sent home!"
The class nods obediently. At what seems to be the same time, they all scatter like so many marbles. The green-haired girl runs off by herself, grinning. She has some kind of attraction to this place. The teacher calls it Destiny Island.
"What is that noise?" She says aloud, her quiet voice echoing loudly across the stone walls of the cave she seems to have entered. Seeing a bright light, she walks toward it, stepping out into a pool of water. A waterfall thunders down, the noise made louder tenfold by the echos. Ahead is another cave. It seems to call her name, 'Amix, Amix....' with each blow of the wind. Slowly, instinctively, she takes a step into the other cave. Another step. Another. Before she realizes it, she is deep into the cave. It is so small, smaller than it should've been. There is writing on the walls....pictures. It is a boy and a girl, and she recognizes them. But why? The island had remained undiscovered for 50 years, the teacher told them. Way before she was born. And suddenly, the feeling that someone is watching her. Amix turns, and there is a door.
'Amix....Amix....' The wind seems to coax her.
And she steps forward.
And she steps forward.
And she opens the door.
