Someone should start trying to force righties to right left-handed and see how they like it .

Thats horrible! D<
I agree if righties force lefties to write right-handed than those righties should be forced to write left-handed!
I hope that isnt too confusing... ;-;

Yeah, I lost a lot of respect for my mom after that. She grew up thinking that righting with your left hand was "bad!" So, when I started eating and drawing with my left hand she would take whatever it was out of my left, put it in my right, hit my left hand, and tell me "No!"

It's interesting, I eat with my left hand but do everything else with my right.

  • Yeah, it's really frustrating to see people who do that, and for me, it's frustrating that people have no sympathy, I know that it sounds petty but I complain frequently about the injustices of a right-handed world, and they just scoff it off and say "it's not that hard" but I'm like, but everything's just enough more difficult to complain, but not more difficult enough to actually give people a reason to change it, I mean, it's like I guess people would have to die more frequently because of right-handed products for people to care. People do die trying to use right-handed appliances that aren't made for them, but the number is low, so I guess that's not enough for people :?. Or else they think that because you're not using that product everything is easy. Or else they'll point out something that "favors" left-handed people, but it's something completely pointless and doesn't even begin to outweigh all of the right-handed products. D< so frustrating T_T.

  • But this computer only has a USB port on the right side. The button can be switched, but the cursor is still a disadvantage because it points the wrong way. There's a scroll bar on the side of the mouse pad, and it's on the right side. The buttons are unevenly sided, the left one is bigger for use by right-handers, it's twice the size of the other one. To put the mouse on the left side, I'd have to squeeze it in next to the keyboard, on the slideout for the keyboard, there's a whole pad on the right side for the mouse, and it can't be moved. It's always in the way and it doesn't get any use because it's on the wrong fucking side. There's a fan on the left side of the computer which, if you use a mouse on the left side, is very very hot against your hand, and it blows frequently, so it's difficult to use. The number keypad on regular keyboards is on the right side. If you get those gel pads for the arm when you're typing, it favors the right hand for the mouse.

my car is lefty friendly- the conveniant cup holder for the driver is on the left. but i'm an uber right dominant individual- so its not all that handy for me.
i tend to think of driving as something that doesnt matter which dominance you are- unless its a manual.

is there a lefty who drives a stick out there? do you just get used to it b/c theres not really an option?

*envisions using my left hand to shift* - ew wierd! XP its like when i try to use a mouse with my left

I have a weird sort of circumstance - I was born left-handed, but my father forced me to use my right hand when I was very young, so I'm not really able to use it for writing or drawing. I suspect I'd be a much better artist if I could.

At any rate, when I have tasks that require strength, or dexterity unrelated to writing, my left hand dominates, but for everyday tasks (picking up my room, writing, drawing, changing channels, etc), my right hand comes out on top.

  • That's not that weird, unfortunately, so many people have said that that happened to them, it's so depressing that it still happens, and contributes to the reason lefties still don't get more acceptance.

You could be right! :3
But then, my father is old-school Jamaican, and there are still superstitions there about being left-handed, according to him. It was because of that actually. I was angry when I found out; didn't even know it until I was in my teens! D: But I got over it. Sometimes I try to write or draw left-handed. It's still a mess! lol

  • I see.
I don't tend to get over such things, lol.
I'm ridiculously stubborn. If I perceive that something isn't right I just don't let it go. I suppose it gets me into trouble. But I just can't find any reason not to do it because what's right is important and someone has to promote it.

I see what you mean. I'm the same way about a lot of things, to be truthful.

At that time, though, I already hadn't been speaking to him for a number of other reasons. Right now, I'm just glad to have my Dad back. <33
Maybe I'll yell at him for it next year xD

  • I don't know. I'm just upset that there's a culture that sanctifies that at all. I probably wouldn't be mad at him because I mean, it's a cultural thing, he himself wouldn't really have known, if you believe it's cursed, that's what you believe, but at the same time, I just am so very frustrated that there are people who believe that in the first place, that it's still supported and still occurs in this world just pretty much makes me sick.

I'm right handed and always will be. It's very uncomfortable for me to type or write with my left hand.

I'm right handed. I've tried writing with my left and the words come out completely illegible. ><

Is there such a thing as borderline Ambidextrous? I am, with out a doubt, right handed, however I have trained my left hand to do a number of things my right hand does.

If anything, my usual handwriting is so bad, that when I write with my left it actually looks neater. XD
Yet since I'm not actually ambidextrious, I dunno. It's not natural, I just trained it that way. ^o^

I'm right handed, and I'm extremely unco-ordinated with my left hand. xD

I'm actually quite glad that I'm not left handed. Back in primary school, left handed people had to sit on the left end so that they wouldn't bump arms/hand with right handers. :o

It's also easier to buy things, like can openers. Don't need to find a special left handed one. xD

I know a few people who were originally left handed, but were forced to use their right hand by their parents when they were a child. It's a little sad. xP

Back in kindergarten I used to switch hands whenever one got tired, much to the annoyance of my teachers and parents. Ended up becoming strictly right-handed after that, though I've thought about trying to train my left hand and becoming ambidextrous again. Just a matter of having the patience, really. hehehe...

i always use my right hand!

my best friend is a lefty but her hand writing is way neater than my chicken scrawlies  and in my book she's way cool to do everything perfectly with left hand including always shoting three points accurately on basketball!
