it is a chemical that is used to flavor food in the US and some other country's. I know that there are some country's that have outlawed it. it is knowing to be additive and causes problems with some people.

MSG can cause headaches and heart palpitations and so on in some people.
Some believe that in extreme amounts that it can lead to cancer. Whether that's true or not is beyond me.
