*sigh* It kills me that we separate any problem that originates from the nerves as different somehow than a problem that originates anywhere else in the body and we treat it differently.
I have major depression and it's frustrating how people who have some other, more physical illness get treated with all this respect and care, but someone with a nervous system illness get treated like we should just get over it.

It's horrible and disgusting, but one must keep in mind that asylums are STILL a thing that exists and people are still forced into them.. We're pretty bad off..

True, true. Luckily, I think the public is very, very slowly coming to realize that at least some of these things are legitimate illnesses that should be treated with respect.

They're all legitimate. Just because someone is CONVINCED they're the emperor of Spain doesn't mean we should torture them or treat them with anything less than dignity. It's sad, true, but they're still people.

Oh, I know they're all legitimate, but the public is only slowly coming to accept some of them. It hasn't quite gotten to the "all of them" stage.
