Ooh, I'm actually seeing grid patterns like that in a lot of places. You might be able to find something similar! Let's see what I can dig up real quick.

ASOS
Ebay (looks like there are a lot of listings with this exact image - which means wholesale - which means you'll find it at a wide array of prices, and maybe cheaper than this)
Daily Look
MissGuided
Modcloth
Amazon

---------- Post added 02-25-2015 at 12:08 AM ----------

Some more.

Sammy Dress
Cardi
Long Sleeve
Gray/Purple
Dress (!!!)
Aliexpress (!!)
Color choices
More yet
Thematically different, but you could rock it?
Good match (is this the same one as before? who knows with wholesalers)
Inverted
Largely unrelated, but I feel you'd like it
My eyes are starting to glaze over
At this point in the search it's kind of just the same 10 tops over and over. But if you'd like to pick up where I'm leaving off, here's a link to the page I was on

Moral of the story, search for "plaid" and just deal with all the real plaids while you look for grids. They don't know that word.

Cherry, you are an angel. I can't even take all that in right now, you managed to find so many!

I have found success on other websites searching "windowpane" But I haven't bought anything yet. I might go into Tacoma this week and see if there is anything at forever 21/

From what I could find, F21 used to have a couple good grid shirts, but they're all sold out now. So I'm not sure what sort of luck you'll have. But they do get new stuff in constantly so who knows what will be in by the time you make the trip.

I went to f21 and bought things... none of which were the things I intended to buy

Ugh, I really love this bra from topshop, but it's essentially sold out:

How's their spring collection looking? I need to buy some new clothes...

Honestly, you could probably find a similar bra of much better quality somewhere else. I've never been to Top Shop in particular, but I would never trust a bra from a shop like that. Aerie 4 life.

I have a lot of Topshop clothes and am a big fan of them and their quanity. I really like the balance of lines, materials and dimensions on that particular bra. I've looked at aerie before - I liked a few of the panties I saw, but was blasé about the designs of everything else.

Unfortunately, quality of clothing in a retailer rarely translates to quality of bras. But I mean, I guess it's up to your expectations? Some people expect bras to last less than six months, so you probably wouldn't be disappointed if those are your expectations. Aerie bras last years, though. The designs aren't always super exciting, but they're damn well made and I'm very passionate about them.

I've got a fashion grumble of my own!

I went to the mall yesterday and tried on four versions of the same basic top, but each of them had some huge fatal flaw. What I want, essentially, is this. Plain, solid black sleeveless button-up in a flowy material. But every single one at the mall was completely sheer. I've been looking online and... same thing. All completely sheer. Or else adorned with stupid lace, beading, rivets, or the buttons are covered by a weird little flap of fabric, or the shirt is ridiculously long in that high-low style.

The shops I tried it on at were H&M and Forever 21 (none of the styles are online, though). I've checked the websites of Walmart, Target, JCPenney, Kohls, Sears, Macy's, Romwe, SammyDress, Forever21 (again), AliExpress, and Amazon. The closest I've come is at Amazon, where there have been some completely plain, opaque, short versions... for like $70+.

At this point I'm just about to scream and knock things over. Sleeveless, airy button-ups seem to be a trend for this spring, and I keep finding so many things that are close (wrong color, completely sheer, ugly embellishments, etc.) and I think that makes it even worse than if I couldn't find anything at all.

I think I might just have to give it a couple months then try looking in stores again. I've noticed that a lot of stores don't post their entire selection online (or don't tag their online selection well, so that their "narrow by feature" sidebar doesn't really show everything it should), so maybe I'll find it in a store. Someday. Maybe.

Hm. I think I saw that at our f2, and it wasn't sheer. Have you looked at zara? It would be less than the amazon one at least. I think. What about urban outfitters? Again, we're upping the price range, but it's all comparative. If I go to f21 again, you want me to look into it, and maybe even ship you one? Maybe we could trade... mine had this brown tassel um, it was somewhere between a loafer and a pump, iirc... Unfortunately I can't find it on their website. In any case, the didn't have anything bigger than a 7.5 in the store. I'm a 10.

I could certainly look for you!

Oh, there was one in F21 that was near-perfect. I loved it when I tried it on. It was jersey knit, so it was so soft and opaque.... then when I turned around to go back into the changing room, Preston noticed that it had a completely sheer back panel. Heart break. The others in the store either had a dumb waist tie, or were sheerish and had the buttons covered. I might just go to a different F21. They're so good (or bad, depending on your perspective) at having 15 versions of the same exact piece of clothing.

Hm, I wonder if the buttons were covered in the one I saw. I know it had a cotton, vaguely linenish texture.

Look at this dress. I'm not sure the cut would look good on me but the print is what I'm all about: Myrtle — Samantha Pleet Passion dress

Apologies for not responding. I went down some rabbit holes looking for illuminated manuscript clothing for you, couldn't find any, got frustrated, and walked away from the computer. For the weekend.

*clutches side* this isn't how I wanted to go out.

This thread is here to mark missed opportunities, and it's about to fill it's quota. That Zara shirt I wanted, yeah I went to buy it online and it was gone. It had been fully in stock just a few days before, I had checked!

But it's zara which means I'll probably find it on a reseller like ebay, eventually. This, which I was also intending to buy? Not so much:

I saw it accidentally in a Google image search, and it took me to a wanelo page. It was posted in the late fall of last year. "Ah, I thought to myself, very little chance of it being available" buy I clicked through and it still was. That was about two weeks ago? Last night I went back last night, and it had been swiped out from under me. I'm thinking I'll contact the etsy seller and asking if she remembers what the brand is.

Other lamentable jackets:

Available but too small

Sold and too small

Out of stock and perhaps to short for my frame

Le sigh

I definitely see the apeal of those Nasty Gal jeans! Dark wash, tight fit. Doesn't look mom jean-ish. Though, hell, kids these days are pulling off mom jeans and making them look great. I don't even know what to think anymore. Anyway, those are on sale right now, if you didn't know. So like... seize the day. Or the jeans. Seize the day jeans. Jean days.

As for the turquoise cardi, I'd say hit up Goodwill. I see gigantic, strangely shaped, brightly colored sweaters and cardis there all the time. Granted, most places have packed away their knitwear for the moment. But some smaller boutiques keep it out year round. Alternatively, wait a few months.

You should check out The Hunt. Like what you're doing here you can post pictures of clothes and people will find the item for you. There's more than just clothes, too. I've seen people post on there for phone cases, school supplies, wall art etc., but it is mostly clothes. They even have different categories so if you find a dress or something you really like but it's too expensive you put it under "this but cheaper" and they'll find somewhere you can buy it cheaper. If you find a jacket you like but want something just a bit different you can put it under "similar to this". I've found a lot of stuff on there.

Just a suggestion. I have the same problem when I find clothes and like and when I go to buy them they aren't there anymore or went out of style or something. I feel your fashion pain!

I routinely use it for "this but cheaper". Haha, I just can't justify spending $40 on a t-shirt! Some of those clothes you posted are giving me all kinds of ideas... My wife and my bank account may disapprove of your influence. I never do much shopping but I can't help it right now! I want all the clothes!

Oh no, I'm sorry!
Well in better news (for me). I just bought this russian scarf for 14 dollars. Or the scarf that this is a detail of:

I'm going to wear it in winter with my forest green duffle coat addendum: uh okay, weird. So I went back a page to get an image of the zara shirt and this time the link worked? So I bought it? Uh. I guess I own that now.

I love scarves! Real talk, my boobs are HUGE and most of my shirts are low cut. (Well, they're not supposed to be, but that's just kind of what happens.) Scarves are my winter biffles. They keep my boobs warm and don't look stupid like trying to zip my coat up all the way...

Also, impulse shopping is why I have to disable internet on my wife's phone so often. I can't tell you how many times the mail-lady has brought us a package that I wasn't expecting. "But it was on sale!" "You told me you wanted it!" "It was the last one in stock!" "I got free shipping!" Ugh, Amazon, you home-wrecker.
