@Gabe ~ I love both Silent Hill 2 & 3, but I do like SH3 that much more. Honestly, I do think SH2 is the deeper of the two, in terms of story and characters. But, like you, I feel bigger connection to Heather. Harry is probably my favorite protagonist of the games, but she's a close second. I also kind feel like i'm with her, if you know what I mean, when her big tragedy happens. It's like I want to take that ride with her. ... Damn you SH3, for making me sad. ;-;

@Howdy- yeah, i agree, i think each of the characters has a well-rounded backstory and motivations and they all develop over the course of the story in SH2, and i think that's p lacking in SH3. and the monsters are more catered to James' guilt; their appearance doesn't really seem to represent much in SH3, although they're still perfectly creepy, especially those fuckin giant flipping spider ones omggg. and i think Heather's personality makes up for the one-dimensional side characters and i'm so scared of that cult, I'm glad that they gave it a big role in the plot like in SH1. and when you learn about Alessa's life omg.... that shit cut deep!!! it just feels so weird that it never really comes up in SH2. and yeah i agree, it genuinely hurts when the tragedy happens. no matter how many times i play, even though i know it's coming, it still deeply rattles me.

ooh i'll definitely have to check her out! first tho i gotta watch the walkthroughs of all the games bc i've only played SH2, SH3, Shattered Memories, and this weird gameboy advance choose-your-own-adventure version of SH1 ahaha. i tried playing SH4 but it was terrible???? i mean i did watch and enjoy the cutscenes and the story overall was p good but the monsters were ugly (and not in a good way.... why the farting ones?? why ) and i struggled with the first person POV parts. but maybe i'll like it more now that like 5 years have passed since i last tried. and since i'll just be watching and not playing. xD
