I'm alright, and thank you Long, I only check that forum a few times a week due to the speed so I hadn't noticed it was already there

It is a slower forum, but I think that's because people don't know what to post there, so they put it in General Discussion, where everything can go. :3

Iku, said bird was being a monster. I had to clean his cage and found out that his flight feathers grew back already, so he was flying like a retard around my room crashing into things. He only has one eye so he can't see things that great. He fell behind one of my fish tanks and I had to get him but he wanted none of it and attacked my hands then crawled up my arm to bury himself into my hair... Tomorrow I'm trimming his wings. Little fart. >:I

I don't want him flying. He only has one eye and he crashes into things when he can fly, so for his own safety I trim his feathers.

Iku, He's a blue Parakeet (Budgie) named Bluebeard the Piratekeet! He was a rescue bird because of his eye, but he's pretty spoiled.

Xuv, it doesn't hurt the bird at all to trim his feathers. It's like cutting hair, feathers are constantly falling out and re-growing so it's something I have to do every other month it seems!

I must agree, that having poor eyesight can cause birds to get themselves killed.

xDDDD I think birds are too delicate to be tied up. They'd probably end up hurting themselves.
Trimming flight feathers is no big deal. Their blood feathers are usually easy to spot so you don't trim them.

@Long: Aww, cute! I had a blue budgie when I was younger. From them I learned that I am not a bird person. > x>;;
But I enjoy them as other people's pets and playing with them at pet stores and such.

Poet, Yes! It can be very dangerous. Today alone he flew into the dresser, the ceiling, the fishtank, and then the wall resulting in a crash behind the fish tank. He seemed shaken up but now he's being puffy and watching me do laundry.

Iku, He's fun but a ornery angry little guy, he doesn't like being held or scratched. He likes talking to us though. He's even mimicking some of the whistles we do for him!!

Xuv, That would be incredible if a bird could trim their own feathers!! But no, they cant, they will preen and fix and clean their own feathers. But I just take scissors to the first 5 flight feathers and match them down to his secondaries. They fall out and grow back in no time.

*UBER SHOCK!!!*
The point of clipping the feathers is to... prevent them from flying?
