Today the BF and a friend were approached by a woman at McDonald's who was looking for a ride to Leadville...96 miles...so she could go to her court date tomorrow.
She told them that she had money on a debit card and could pay...
So, BF came home and we got Sarah ready for a car ride because Sarah loves to go for car rides...and I love to drive.
We went and picked the woman up just as a torrential downpour began!
Driving on I-70, as I passed a semi truck, the water splashing from the semi's tires covered our windshield for nearly 5 full seconds!
I just drove through it like it was nothing while my passengers got a little nervous.
We finally drove out of the storm and arrived in Leadville just before 5pm...
The woman needed to get her property from the sheriff's department...saying that she expected her debit card to be in that property.
When she returned to the van, she told us that the debit card was in someone else's property.
She asked us to drop her off at a hotel, so that is what we did.
The BF's friend was upset because he was sure that the woman knew that she couldn't pay us for the ride before we even picked her up...
The BF just shrugged it off...saying that more people should just help out our fellow human whenever we can...Plus, the scenery on the ride was well worth the trip.
I took a different route home...which thrilled our friend because he had never been that way and he just couldn't stop saying how beautiful the scenery was!
So...the lady got a free ride to be able to appear at her court date...Sarah got to go on a long car ride...our friend got to see some beautiful scenery...and BF got the satisfaction of doing a good deed for a stranger..a random act of kindness.
I thought it would be appropriate to post about it in this thread.

Seems like menes slowed down more again.

I'd post more but I've been busy. Work has been short handed a lot lately and I'm still house hunting, although I've got my eye on a nice house in my price range not to far away from where I'm at currently. It's a nice house too. Over a hundred years old thiugh.

Old houses usually have lots of charm.
Make sure to have the foundation and the wiring and the water pipes inspected...and have it checked for asbestos and lead paint.

Parts of the house have been renovated in the last two years and more work done on it in August apparently. Looked at it the other month, basement needed some work but otherwise it looked to be in fairly good shape. The upstairs of the house was renovated, new wiring, plumbing, new bathroom, all new sheetrock and all freshly painted. And the living room in the house was just redone as well apparently

Sounds like a good buy if you can get it!

Yeah, considering most of the listed houses in town are well out of my price range, at the moment it's about my only choice. There were/are some cheaper houses listed but they need too much work done.

You can find some weird stuff left in old houses.
