its pretty easy actually bellybutton. all you have to do is cut out a shape out of some fabric, arrange it and then sew it, frame it, back it and stitch it down. sounds pretty simple right? i started with baby quilts, but you can easily start with wall hangings.

I've done some quilting ages and ages ago, I'm just wary of committing to it right now for some reason. :) But I should dig out my fabric scraps and make some quilted mug rugs. I actually need one, so that has a good chance of getting done.

Not so much spending the entire time on it. I've been working crazy hours, so sometimes, I came home and went straight to sleep. So it was kind of sporadic, was really hoping to get it finished much earlier than this. But I will admit, I had to restart several pieces a few times (and modify some) because I couldn't get it right.

lol, I'll have no problem this year. I just got requests to make some dishcloths for some people (my mother's red hat group and dad's coworkers). 17 people, so that means 34 dishcloths. I'm on number 5 right now, should finish it tonight, and start on number 6.

wow, thats awesome. are you knitting them or crocheting them?

i tend to just make larger things... which tend to take more time i guess. i am thinking about a bustle and a headband... which are relatively small compared to a full size quilt and a dress.

edit: so i made a bustle this morning after thinking about it all night. took me a little over an hour, but here it is!

and that makes 9 items of my 25. slowly but surely. I think as long as i dont stop, ill make it in time. also, im not sure i have ever been this productive crafting before ever. so thank you so much for the motivation. sounds silly, but its things like this that really push me to make all the things i have had in my head for years.

I'm knitting them. Funny thing is... I can knit with four needles, watching tv, and taking care of trick or treaters without batting an eye, but i can't figure out crochet. lol. I've been trying to find someone who can show me, or take a class, but things just haven't worked out yet.

I'm glad that you liked this idea, and that it gives you motivation to create. :) Sometimes, we all need that push.

yeah, that is for sure how i feel. so i really appreciate you creating this thread. its awesome. i also love the feedback, it also helps motivate me. aside from that, its also great to see other people crafting. sometimes i feel like no one i know crafts and im alone and there isnt a point, i should just buy things like a regular person. this really combats that dramatically and effectively. so yeah... i appreciate this thread :D

i find knitting impossible and crochet super easy. so its funny that we are completely opposite from each other. i think we talked about this earlier in the thread. I learned crochet from my boyfriends mom, im not very good at it though... i really just thought i should learn it because she has so much yarn i have to figure out something to do with it. like so much yarn.... so much yarn....

My mom taught me to knit when I was a kid and I learned crochet from a friend much later, so I've always found knitting easier. These days, when I need to learn new stitches, I find youtube videos the most helpful way to learn. I'll watch 3-4 different people explain a stitch, because sometimes the visuals will be good the explanation won't be, or visa versa. I taught myself how to knit continental style that way in just an evening. :D
