(I realised a little while ago the only way for Kuratu to be eighteen and still in school is if this is happening sometime in late March or later, seeing as his birthday is in March ^^ So should we say the last few days have been the last breath of winter?)

Kuratu came up to the door and took one hand out of his pocket long enough to knock. He was comforted slightly by the knowledge it would be warming up soon, but in the meantime, he was cold.

Amelia jumped and quickly ran to answer the door.
"Hello Kuratu, come in and have some hot chocolate."said Amelia's father.
Amelia stepped back and let him enter and once he did, she hugged him to try and keep him warm.

Kuratu hugged Amelia back gratefully. She felt warm, making him smile softly at the sensation. He was feeling sick and a little tired from the hunger, but did his best not to show it as he drew back. 'How are you?'

'I'm fine, you?' she said in sign and handed him some hot chocolate.
Snow was falling lightly outside which added to the freezing temperature.

Kuratu took it gratefully, wrapping his hands around it as he looked outside and sighed. 'I'm fine,' he said, taking a sip.

'You sound very tired...a bit sad. What's wrong?' she asked in sign. She sipped at her hot chocolate and looked out the same window at the snow that covered the town.

'Just the snow...' Kuratu said. 'I'm cold, that's all.' He gave Amelia a soft smile as he took another long sip of hot chocolate. The quick sugar was already beginning to make him feel better, but it would take a more permanent meal, he knew.

Amelia smiled back at him and hugged him trying to keep him warm.
Then she let go and went to her room. Amelia grabbed a blanket and brought it downstairs to the living room.
'Here you go, I hope it helps.' she said in sign. and then hugged him again before sipping her hot chocolate again and smiled at him

Kuratu smiled gently at her as he sat down. 'Thank you,' he said, putting the blanket around his shoulders and cupping the hot chocolate in his hands.

'You're very welcome!' she replied in sign.
Amelia looked at her parents which were discussing thins about his work and she turned back to Kuratu then looked at her hot chocolate and sipped most of it.

Kuratu finished his hot chocolate quickly and set it down, looking at Amelia. 'How many words do you still have to write down?' he asked, wondering how complete her sign language vocabulary was.

'About 35 to 40 I think...maybe 25..I'm not quiet sure. But it's not a lot trust me.' she replied in sign. Amelia really didn't think it was a very large amount.

Kuratu smiled gently at her. 'Write them down for me. I'll show you how to say them.'

Amelia nodded and did as she was told, among these words were: School, Party, Nightmare, Dream, Dandelion, Swimming pool, Animals, and Orphanage.
Oh, I don't know any animals except....cat, dog, pig, and cow. she wrote.

Kuratu nodded. He went through the list in the order Amelia had written them down, showing her the sign for each word.

Amelia struggled with a few and passed quickjly with others. Her parents smiled and watched them both study.

When they were done, Kuratu went over again the ones Amelia had struggled with, repeating one sign until she knew it before going on to the others.

Amelia smiled and did as he told her, and soon she was learning the harder words.
'You are a very good teacher.' she said in sign once they were done.

'You're a good student,' Kuratu responded, smiling at her.

Amelia smiled and blushed a bit of pink.
'Thank-you!' she replied in sign.

Kuratu smiled back a little more, then looked out the window. It was beginning to get dark.

'You have to leave now? aww."she said sighing.

'I probably should,' Kuratu said, standing. 'I'll see if I can come by tomorrow.'

"Have a good night Kuratu! we'll see you tommorow!"said jewel smiling. Her husband nodded and Amelia hugged.
'I'm going to miss you...but I'll be here waiting for my favorite teacher tomorrow!' She said in sign.

Kuratu smiled gently at her. He ruffled her hair slightly before thanking them for the hot chocolate and stepping out into the chilly air. Usually in winter Kuratu built snow around himself for insulation, but considering the snow might melt tomorrow for all he knew, it wouldn't be a good idea to do that tonight. Instead, he just curled up on his bench, shivering.
