I don't know why my doctor hasn't told me to get it.

O.o I don't think I've had one. but then again I had the chicken pox when I was little and then after that they gave me a shot I think.

Generally it's the older folk (like us) who get shingles.
But I think that anybody could get it who had chicken pox.

Anyone can get shingles, but it's less likely (and/or less severe) if you've already had chicken pox.

The only issue that I have with the Chicken Pox and Shingles vaccines is that they are getting rid of the weaker strains and creating deadlier strains of the virus. Everything wants to live and continue living, hence why they adapt and morph into airborne, or blood contact.

Actually anyone can get shingles, it's matter of being exposed to the virus. It is possible for people to get shingles after they've had chicken pox, it's just a milder form. And generally it's people with compromised or weakened immune systems. Fflur's Grandma got shingles as she was going through Chemo therapy. Wiped her out for a good month.

I thought it was the other way around.

That only people who have HAD chicken pox can get shingles.

hmm, I'm not sure which way it goes, I always thought it was worse for someone who had it one already. I'll have to lok it up at some point tomorrow.

Jean, I got a little mixed up. You can only contract shingles if you've had chicken pox, however, you can contract chicken pox from someone that has the shingle outbreak in the blister stage. That's where I was a little grey on the information. But there it is in a nut shell.

OK. That's what I thought.

But what I didn't know was that somebody with shingles could give somebody else chicken pox!
