"We need a med team sooner than that," Alexis ground out, picking off a few more AIM grunts before turning to tie a bandage tight around Jameson's leg. "Like now." She used another word from page 14.

Autumn swore a bit and moved closer to Alexis's position.

"I'll cover you," she said, "just try to keep him stable. There's a first-aid kit in the van, but it's not going to be too much help."

"That's a bit hard to do," Alexis growled. But she moved a bit to try and get Jameson stable, swearing. "Come on, kid, five more minutes," she muttered.

Autumn held her position, covering Alexis, until she heard the voice in her ear that told her SHIELD backup had arrived. It was accompanied by more gunfire, and then a few other agents appeared.

"Sabatello's in there," she told them, gesturing. "She's got injured."

By the time the backup arrived, they were a minute too late, and Alexis was shooting every AIM grunt she could see and keeping Traxler down.

Autumn could see Alexis looking around even after all of the AIM grunts in the area were down and SHIELD started recovery operations. She crept closer to the other agent.

"Alexis...?" she said cautiously.

Alexis wasn't letting anyone else near Jameson and Traxler just yet. She turned her gaze to Autumn, her eyes fierce and cold.

"It's over," Autumn said calmly, holding up her hands. "You need to let the med team check everyone out."

Alexis was quiet for a moment before she put her sidearm away.

"Jameson died a minute and a half ago," she said, her voice very quiet.

"I'm so sorry," Autumn said softly. "They got here as fast as they could, and we weren't expecting any more than a routine training excersise." She touched Alexis's shoulder. "We have to go round up the others and tell the higher-ups what happened."

"Yeah. I know." Alexis ushered Traxler over to the med team and watched them zip up the body. Then she pulled out her phone to call Coulson, already thinking of what forms she'd need to fill out.

Autumn nodded and went over to corral her junior agents, assessing injuries and taking the opportunity to quiz them on the paperwork necessary for the situation.

Once Alexis had gotten everything started, she didn't have time to stop for a while. She had her other junior agents to take care of, phone calls to make, and paperwork to fill out. Which she started out on the field because she had a few of the forms with her.

And she planned to keep going and get everything done except Coulson got there first.

"Agent Sabatello," Coulson said as he approached her. "Tell me what happened here." He knew already, of course, he was Coulson, but he wanted her version.

Alexis looked at him for a moment before she looked away. "This was supposed to be a normal milk run, sir, for our new junior agents. The other liaisons had brought their junior agents here a week ago. We set them to a normal patrol and surveillance. Jameson..." She had to pause there for a moment, blinking. "Jameson called in something abnormal, so we recalled everyone else. I went to find Jameson and Traxler. By the time I found them, Jameson had been shot in the leg, and the two had taken cover from AIM. Agent Lennox provided enough cover for me to join the two junior agents." She paused there and took a quiet breath. "One of Agent Lennox's junior agents called for backup and the two of us held off the AIM grunts until other agents arrived." But she still refused to meet his eyes.

"I see," Couslon said. "You did well, Agent Sabatello. Exactly what protocol dictated. It could have ended much, much worse." He noticed she wouldn't meet his eyes, and he knew why. It was always rough losing an agent.

"I know that, sir," Alexis said quietly. She glanced at him briefly. "Is there anything else, sir? I'd like to get a start on the paperwork if I may now."

"Actually, Agent, I was here to tell you to take the night off for yourself," Coulson said. "Get your head back on right. I think I can look the other way if paperwork is a day or so late."

Alexis opened her mouth to protest, paused, and then closed it again. Okay, so he was probably right. He probably knew exactly what was going on.

"Yes, sir," she agreed quietly.

"And if I may, Agent," Coulson said, "I believe Stark just bought another liquor store. It might be a good idea to confiscate some of his new stock." He looked at her, and then tilted his head slightly towards the vans, indicating that she should get going.

Alexis closed her eyes for a moment before she managed a faint snort. "Yes, sir. I'm sure we wouldn't want him attempting to get Thor drunk again. I do believe Miss Potts might have my head." She dipped her head to him in thanks.

Coulson nodded in return and turned back to the rest of the damage control efforts, leaving Alexis to get herself together in pseudo-peace.

Alexis took his advice and headed back to the Tower, although she did text Autumn.

Everything okay with you? Coulson told me to take the night off.

Everything's fine. Go ahead and take your night off, I can run herd on your minions until you get back. Because Autumn knew Alexis needed at least the night, if not the next day as well.

Alexis put her phone away, parked in the underground parking, and took the elevator up to the Avengers' living quarters to go see about stealing alcohol so she could get smashed.
