The vampire smiled at the still form, before gently transporting him into the bedroom. Vanyel slid Cassius under the covers, letting the blanket fall to the floor. He followed suit, though Vanyel paused to remove his shirt. Under the covers, his hand sought of the human's, intertwining their fingers.

"I love you," Cassius whispered to Vanyel. He tightened his hand around his lover's, but soon his strength failed. His gripped loosened on Vanyel's hand and his eyes closed. He fell into a deep sleep.

While the human slept, Vanyel moved closer, allowing his body to curl around the other. He stroked the male's hair and chest, sighing contently. The vampire nuzzled Cassius as he slept, "Love you too..." He whispered after a few moments, before settling his head on his arm, to watch the human sleeping.

Cassius woke up. Well at least he thought that he was awake. [I]I opened my eyes? Didn't I?[/I He could feel is eyeslids flutter as he moved them up and down, blinking. He was blind! "Vanyel?," he managed to get out in a strained cry. The tears began to fill his eyes as he frantically felt around for his lover.

The male was confused at Cassius's panicked tone, and his fingers began running through the male's hair once more, attempting to calm him. "What's wrong, ai?"

"I-I can't see!,"Cassius stuttered, tears running from his unseeing eyes. He reached frantically for his lover's body. Everything felt empty like he was falling into dark nothingness, he couldn't stop himself.

Can't see..? Vanyel felt the touches of panic at his lover's admission. He moved into the human whose arms were searching for him and experimentally waved a hand in front of Cassius's face. A lump found it's way into Vanyel's throat. "Oh, ai...Come, come, shhh. I'm going to bring you to your doctor, alright...He may know why.."

Cassius nodded, unable to speak. He wrapped his arms around Vanyel and buried his face in his lover's chest. His tears running down Vanyel's chest. "I'm scared," he whispered, his words muffled.

Vanyel was at a loss for words, instead rubbing Cassius's back gently. "We'll find it out." He lifted the male's haed, wiping away the tears. "Shh...Don't cry, we'll find it out. I'm here, there is nothing to be afraid of.."

"Okay," Cassius whispered against Vanyel's chest. "I loved you." He was trying to keep himself calm, but inside he was freaking out. What was he suppose to do if for the rest of his life (however long that would be) he wouldn't be able to see?

"Loved? What's with the past tense?" Vanyel had stood, moving to Cassius's wardrobe and selecting clothes for the male. He moved back to the bed, gently manuvering the human into the clothes. "Here, ai..." He lifted the human, making his way to the doctor's room. "Doc?"

Cassius hadn't realized he had used past tense. I am accepting death too quickly? I mean this is just temporary. Maybe Vanyel wouldn't want him anymore, so many thoughts ran through his head. He clung to Vanyel like a lost child as he carried him to see the doctor.

The doctor opened the door when he heard Vanyel call him. The older man stood in the door in a black bathrobe, looking at the two men. "What is it Master Vanyel."

((I actually didn't mean to use past tense, but, hey, it worked!))

Vanyel lifted Cassius a bit higher. "There's trouble, with his vision..."

The doctor scratched his chin. "I see. Bring him in and lay him down on the bed. I will take a look at him." The doctor stepped aside to let Vanyel through.

Vanyel did as he was told, asking as he moved, "Do you know what could of caused this? Is it reversable?"

The doctor went over to examine Cassius. "I can assure you Master Vanyel. It is more and likely just temporary because of his head wound. The part of the brain that is responsible for vision must of been hit pretty hard." He was shining a pen light in Cassius's eyes.

Vanyel nodded, sighing in relief. Poor Cassius, he was going through so much right now. The vampire shifted his weight, making sure to hold his lover's hand as the doctor examined the human.

The doctor nodded and put his light on the nightstand beside the bed. "Well Master Cassius there is nothing wrong with your eyes. We will just give the brain time to mend itself, but if you start getting headaches let me know. You keep an eye on him Master Vanyel," he smiled at both of them.

Vanyel nodded his thanks to the doctor, bending next to the bed. "See, you'll be alright...Would you like me to read to you for now?"

Cassius smiled and reached out and felt for Vanyel's face. He gently rested his hand on his lover's cheek. "What would you read to me?," he continued to smile. "Can you take me back to our room please?" It was funny him saying 'our' room, he had never refered to his room as 'our' room. He must really be the one. This is what real love feels like. I've never felt like this before, with anyone.

The vampire nodded his answer, leaning into his blind lover's hand. "Yes..." He spoke softly, before gently picking Cassius up, carrying him into 'their' room now. While he walked, he occasionally nuzzled the other male's neck. "I'll read whatever you like...What are you most fond of?"

Cassius reached up to touch his lover's face, more to comfort himself. He was afraid of never being able to see Vanyel's face again. He longed to see the other man's eyes, staring at him in admiration. "There is a book under the nightstand called "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Witman. Could you read "I Sing the Body Electric...."? I want to hear how the words sound coming from your beautiful voice," he whispered.

The vampire smiled, dipping his head and nuzzling Cassius's face. "Hai, whatever you want, love. You flatter me much too much, though."

He shifted, reaching into the nightstand Cassius had reffered to. He lifted out the book, finding the page the human had requested. His hand that wasn't holding the book slid over to the other male, gribbing his hand tightly. Vanyel sat cross legged, the book in his lap as he read to his lover. He finished soon, glancing back to Cassius. "Would you like more? Or is there something else you wish?"

Cassius smiled as Vanyel read. A tear fell down his cheek, his lover's voice calmed him, it was so beautiful. "I just want you to lay here with me please. I want to be able to touch you, to run my fingers across your skin," Cassius almost whimpered, reaching out for Vanyel.
