Familiars are decided with many ways. One being summoned at an early stage by the caster while learning magic... The second would be coming across a creature, and form a contract with it. Obviously, it would be the second~ xD So Crimson, you may choose a race for Zalia and I'll create him or her *does all floaty with her hands*
By the way, the idea of brining a mythical creature so Zalia could have her very own familiar could be Jatan's idea and gift after coming back, but that's up to you.
