Now lets start that petition, and get our beloved NPCs back!

I just want to say that to use an npc ypu have to be trained (when i say trained i mean like...read the character bio fully, learn the catch phrases, learn the nuances, practice being in character while interacting with other staff and npcs, get critiqued, try it again, etc)...and log a lot of practice time in the staff forums where you get critiqued for staying in character and how to do it better. And a lot of the npc users have stepped down or are on hiatus. They got a group of new modlets and I'm sure they will be training to take over. But you have to give a bit of time for them to practice.

I know you guys don't like hearing they need time...but this is definitely a case where they do since they are brand new. You don't want npcs to come out with a complete change in personality lol that would be like we stepped into the twilight Zone haha

I don't see why you can't make a banner with NPC images.

I saw Rebellion and I was hooked. What can I do to aid this cause?

I guess we understand that issue, you are right if admin/modlets leave and it take time to train the newbies.. but this is for showing support and bringing our NPC back one by one... tbh this probably the first or even the only site where NPCs are genuinely nice and interact with users in friendly convo or banter apart from some *cough*Mr.Mayor*cough*

That's fine Ace. I understand users want the NPCs back out. They have been gone recently (for example...the NPC played by Seito and myself is no longer in use at the moment because we both stepped down from staff). The modlets have to complete mod training which takes a couple months. Once they have that down, they will be able to pick up new projects like NPC duties. A petition, while it sounds great to show staff you really want the NPCs to come out, won't necessarily hurry that process. I think banners and supportive words and reminders will be great in showing support to our staff and new mods so they can work hard to do things the users will love.

I think ways to show support beyond a petition could start a fanclub for different NPCs...like the Yumeh Fanclub! Or users could all plan an NPC cosplay day where everyone dresses as either the same NPC to show support or users pick their favorite to dress as. You could get some NPC fanart and put it in your signatures as support. You could drop a message on the staff and new modlet pages thanking them for working hard and encouraging them to continue to do so. You could come up with a favorite NPC memory thread...post your favorite interaction with an NPC (which will then give the new NPC controller something to say "Oh hey! They really liked when my character did x, y, and z!).

I am not knocking your ideas. I just wanted to give some input. :)

Just curious, Maria, even if we did plan a massive cosplay of the NPCs, how would that assist in making our point that the NPCs have disappeared and we would like them to come around again? It shows we support the character, but doesn't quite convey that they are missed. Not trying to knock the suggestion, just trying to understand the logic behind it.

Queen, that was just one of many suggestions that I just thought up off the top of my head. I think a massive cosplay event will show the staff that you support the NPCs and that you would like to see more of them. Make it a big deal. Create a thread. Create banners. Create a movement. In your thread say we are planning this massive event to show our support of the NPCs and our desire to have them back. If you STILL want to go the petition route...use that thread...have members sign up to cosplay as different characters...that can be a way for them to "sign" their support as well as pick their favorite NPC. It's a more...FUN way to do it I support.

I understand it isn't just a petition. But I am just not sure a petition is going to give you immediate gratification (for reasons I stated earlier). So instead of stating "We demand more NPC involvement...if you agree sign here" doing small things like creating support threads, fan clubs, fan art, cosplay events, favorite memory threads, etc is going to be an on-going effort that will encourage those that are learning to use an NPC account to continue to learn.

That's just my opinion. As always, everyone is free to ignore me. I just thought I'd give my 2 cents. I just like to look at things from a positive approach and a fun approach.

Hopefully no one yells at me...as my intention is not to insult or offend. You can take my comments at face value or you can leave them and ignore them. Should they be ignored, I'll know to just move on to another thread XD

Maria, don't think that I am just being a pain to be a pain, but there have been requests before this I am sure to bring back the NPCs during events and such requests have fallen upon what appear to be deaf ears (my opinion, not actual fact).

We'd probably be more understanding of the situation IF we were provided more information and things weren't left so up in the air and mysterious regarding the handling of the NPCs. (Not like we are asking for state secrets or anything.) Had it been known before now that there is extensive training required for those posting as NPCs our actions and reactions would be vastly different than they are. That being said, encouraging the new Modlets in their endeavors to learn the characters they will be play is something that I can definitely get behind.

As for immediate gratification, that's not something that happens here. We don't expect that at all. Just knowing that our voice is being heard would be a step in the right direction though.

As I can no longer see behind the scenes, I can't say anything for sure, but I will say that when I was staff, these things were greatly discussed and worked on. They werent falling on deaf ears. But for me, i used to play an NPC occassionally. My problem was that even during events i was still pixeling EIs...so i had no time to take that NPC out. Thats why Seito and i shared it...but poor Seitos real life got the best of her. Neph has trained with NPCS but she's the only active event pixelist at the moment so there goes her time. I It's been hard to keep active staff. I know BSW, Eli, Sha, and Carn have been on mene for years though so I think there is hope to keeping them. Ziggy has also been around forever so moving her up to AA is a really good idea. I think once these new modlets complete their training, they will be very good at being active and taking on projects. It just, once again, comes down to time unfortunately

I think the threads you guys have made is really a step in the right direction. Staff knows you care, Sha has been in the threads a ton. I've seen Zig post. I know they are aware of these threads and what you want.

I think doing some fun threads doubles with getting your voice out there but also gives mene something upbeat and fun. Have everyone signing up, participating in a little coaplay, it gets people coming on and posting. It gets newbies going wow, how cool! Could turn it into a contest even? Prize for the best avatar cosplay...you guys be judges.

@Queen: I agree that we have been kept in the dark, least to my knowledge we didnt have a clue what was going on with the NPC or the struggle all the staffs are going through to run this place.. If we knew the struggle am sure more and more of normal Menewshans would of been supportive.

I give, we are not against the Admins and Mods. In-fact I love the, i believe out of few site like Mene I been on this is far the best site there is.. Not sure if there new ones out there I dont use but for me this is like one of the best place to come to when I need to be away from the real world.


@Maria: I love your idea... User run event for to show the support and cosplay of the NPCs is the great idea =3 I am sure someone would love to take this up and do it as I am hardly on now days and not sure if I have any experience in making a user run event.. I think once I am free a little this weekend I will make a thread asking for support. *hugs* thank you for the advice and thanks for the hard work and explanation on whats really happening behind the scene.

Tbh I started this thread cause I was bored and wanted some drama =3 of course like everyone else I missed the NPC.. Specially Granny C and my vengeance against Mr Mayor for stealing Vicky away from me. I think it would be great to start an event getting more people joining in and get it noticed.

Telling the people what actually goes on to run a site like this. We gotta appreciate the staff and their work. The Event shall be for thanking the staff and with the twist fight for NPC just to spice things up a bit..

Us modlets have to get through our training perios so that we can begin training as NPCs and I believe that is why there are four of us recruited at once because the staff definetly hears the cry for the NPCs and we are going to do our darndest to appease that cry. (i myself being one who wants to see the NPCs more often) Things are definitely not falling on deaf ears and we are working on ways to pick up communication as well so that you have a bit of a better idea of what's going on behind the scenes without giving anything away ^.~ spoilers are a no-no hehe
