The second one is nice, but throws me off a little because it looks like the trunk of the tree extends into the mountain, and makes the mountain look like it's transparent. It sits a little oddly with me. But the tree itself is pretty.

Next time try a simple gradient for the background before painting the design over it. see how that works.

Isn't it strange who that happens. Apparently that is what just happened to the F key on my keyboard because now it's working just fine.
