It's very true. And I myself worked with the afterschool program, so I saw kids that were left there without there parents for hours after school. These poor kids just endured a day of school, and then would be left with us for up to 4 more hours. :( It was very sad. But oddly enough, the kids that stayed the latest were usually very kind. There was one boy that had a very bad living situation but he was so smart and so sweet. He wanted to stay with us, too. His parents would just forget about him and we'd have to call sometimes. But with us he got food and some company.

But the kids that would get picked up pretty early were often the very bratty ones. But I don't think those parents were spending that time with them. They probably just picked them up and let them do whatever they wanted.

I get what you're saying. Yeah, some people don't realize how much it can affect a child to not be in their lives.
